1499.0. "Peugeot 205 aeriel prob !" by TRUCKS::BEATON_S () Thu Jul 11 1991 11:42

    Question.

I need to replace the roof mounted aeriel on my Peugeot 205. And I've
come up against a slight problem... I cannot see how to unbolt/unscrew
    the mounting from the inside.

I have removed enough interior fittings to actually get at the underside
of the aeriel mounting... I'm just not sure where to go from here...
Eg, does the cable to the aeriel simply unplug?

(My local bookshop is all out of Haynes manuals on 205s and I'd like to
sort this one out before I go on my hols.)

    Any ideas out there?

    Regards,

    Stephen

You'll probably find there's a cover on the *outside* where the aerial meets
the roof. This may prise off, revealing a nut/screw/etc.

As for the aerial lead unplugging, I've never seen an aerial where the lead
and aerial are separable; the only plug is at the radio end...

My Sierra Estate has this type of aerial, the distance from
the mount to radio is a long way. Mind you it is an after-market type,
one of those 15" flexible thingies, and the lead screews into the base
	of the aerial.

The one's I've seen fitting into the roof (my old R5 and visa) The
aerial bolts onto the roof, and the cable bolts onto the bolt. There's
an ingenious arrangement in order to carry the coax across.

Ther may be a cap hiding all this which is all hidden behind a large
    cap in the headlining.

You don't say why yo're doing this. Do you really need to change the
mounting? If its only the ariel that needs replacing, it just unscrews.

Haynes manual is not very useful I'm afraid.

P.S. How come Haynes manuals are always full of useful information,
except for the stuff you're really interested in.

.... and why are they stuffed full of such useful pictures of spanners
on nuts and captions like "removing a bolt"?

Do we have a rathole here?
