1411.0. "Glass's Guide?" by DOOZER::PENNEY (Richard Penney 830 4114 @RKA 1/19) Sat Apr 06 1991 21:56

Can't trace this having been asked here before Mr. Mod...

Can anyone tell me how to get hold of Glass's guide (by fair means or
foul)?

Is it significantly more reliable anyway than those openly on sale at
Smiths etc.?

not a chance by fair means, unless you're in a legit business buying
and selling cars. it's a trade only guide.
I suppose if you're chummy with a dealer you could get a copy.

When I was auction trotting I found the parkers guide quite accurate,
but as always common sense prevails, ie if its a rust bucket then knock
a bit off, or if its only been used by granny to get her pension on
thursdays, the rest of the time under wraps in the garage then pay a
    bit more.

The Glasses guid is not that accurate anyway.

I've just been given a quote to buy my comany heap for 5700, the
glasses guide says a the book price is 5900 (obtained from a friend in
the trade, briefly). Could I get a dealer to get anywhere near this
price, no chance, the best being 4900. Every excuse was given from the
colour being wrong (RED!!) to there being no call for cars that only run on
    unleaded!!

Has anyone ever noticed how when your buying a car its a seller market
and whenever your selling its a buyers market?

By the way the cars a 205 1.9 Gti in pretty good nick.

    Re -1

The 205 1.9 GTi takes Leaded and Super-unleaded only but the 1.6 can
be adjusted to take normal unleaded.. The '91 versions can have a
    optional CAT fitted.

.5 is correct. Mine is a late 88 model, I asked the dealer if it
was worth converting and he gave a definite NO. All the ones they have
converted end up with stalling problems and end up being set back to leaded
only.

Does anyone know is the '91 CAT model any less powerful ?

    Hi Graham,

I don't have the exact figures but its something like:
           Non-CAT CAT
    0-60 7.8secs 8.2secs
I don't know about the other figures but they are slightly slower.
(Isn't this true for all CAT equipped cars?)
