2176.0. "Vauxhall slow to supply" by FAILTE::THOMSONS () Thu Nov 11 1993 12:21

With my present lease car at end of lease and 60,000 miles on the clock.

The new car scheme in operation , the need to save money etc etc

I have decided to replace my Cavalier SRI with a Turbo diesel Astra with ABS.

Nothing wrong with that is there ?????

With a sudden need to make loads of Frontera Diamonds, they've converted
several lines to making them. This has pushed out the dates on everything.
(Wait until people who order Fronteras see their dates !).

However, As you get nearer the time, i.e. beginning of December, a phone call
or two seems to improve the delivery date immeasurably. Car fleet were
exceptionally helpful over mine, as were Hertz. Only don't tell them I said
so, because they'll blame me for the sudden influx of phonecalls !!

Actually, as a side point, Car Fleet and Hertz are a joy to deal with these
days. Congratulations to someone or other.

You are supposed to order your new car up to three months before the
renewal date to allow for delivery times!!

re My Astra TD.

Ordered mid-August Delivery Date NOV 15th
Actually Delivered NOV 1st

In the Inspection system booklet,
Predelivery inspection signed off 14-Oct-93. (!)

They have also got the Model wrong - I'll have to check..
Nope I haven't got the estate version :-).

No prompting/pushing/hassling of HERTZ/Carfleet on my part.

Sooo if you push - you could knock some time off.

    re .5

Who missed the smiley then ... :-)

Very back page of the Inspection system booklet it gives the model
as an ASTRA 1.7TD GLS ESTATE, then the chassis number.
    Handwritten I may add.
As I look down upon my car outside the window, it assuredly is not
     an estate.
I'll check the chassis number this weekend - just for heck of it.

So either you have the wrong inspection booklet, or the inspector
couldn't tell the difference between an Estate and a hatchback! If the
latter I'd be concerned about his abilitiies to spot defects.
