1000.0. "New model for Morgan" by BUNTY::CHATOGD (David Chatog, UK WUM (833 3333).) Sun Apr 01 1990 14:06

I read in the latest Autocar that Morgan are rumoured to be developing a
new model, but no details are available yet. Has anyone any further
    information?

    Dave.

Are you sure you not getting confused with MG? There is apparantly a
new MG model under discussion. There's a note in here on it somewhere.

I read this in one of the other magazines, (not Autocar) I can't remember
which but it may have been "Car". I didn't buy the mag, I just read it in
Smiths. There was one of those fuzzy pictures which could have been of
anything! rumours have been growing that Morgan are working on their first
new model since Victoria was on the throne :-) It is apparantly a saloon,
roughly of the style of the original Mercedes SL's. That's what the picture
looked like, though it may have *been* an Merc.

Let's hope it's better than their last attempt at a saloon (the plus
4 plus?). That sunk without trace in (I think) the '60's.

When you refer to the Merc sl, are you talking about the 'Gull Wing'?

The new Morgan has also been featured in "Car and Driver". It does look very
much like the Mercedes SL (NOT the Gull Wing, but the later ones with the
lift off hard top). It is being developed with assistance from 'a major European (believe that, you'll believe anything!)
manufacturer'. It is thought that the mechanicals will be BMW, and won't be
available for at least four years.

Four years - I suppose that's because they'll have to wait for the trees to
grow (for the chassis)

Mind you, sneaking into the net on a Sunday just to
nab note 1000 is a bit below the belt.

As I understand it the new Morgan will be automatic only
	too.
