1859.0. "Fuel Injection Specialist required - recommendatioons." by ALBURT::LEWIS () Mon Aug 10 1992 14:04

Can anyone out there please recommend a good fuel injection specialist.
My Orion 16i is in need of a tune, it idles very roughly.

I have found Double's Garage and R.A. Engineering in the yellow pages,
has anyone got any comments on these.

    regards

    Neil

    P.S. Its a K-jetronic system.

RA Engineering :-

Technically good, however I had a very large argument with them after
spending much money sorting out an injection system.

My fuel pump failed and they refused to even look at the car for 4 days
or so, not even 5 mins early in the morning! This level of customer
care (or lack of it) annoyed me, and I have not been back since :-(

I tried to get RA Engineering to diagnose a fault on the Bosch
injection of my rallying Open Kadett GT/E a couple of years ago.
They sat with it for a week, replaced the brain, charged a fortune,
and still had not fixed the problem.

I would not recommend them to anybody.

P.S., Fixed the Kadett by removing the injection and installing a
pair of 48s - transformed the car, but it would only do 10 mpg when
driven in anger.
1859.3I can't wait a week.ALBURT::LEWISTue Aug 11 1992 13:269
Well it looks like I will not be going to RA Engineering, I need a
place where I can take my car and wait for them to perform their black
art, preferably with me watching. I can't go with out my car for more
than a few hours, let alone a WHOLE week.
Does anyone have any experience with Double's Garage in Spencer Wood?

    Thanks so far,

I have no idea of their service, but I am sure I have seen the
Aldershot branch of Turbo Technics state that they are Bosch
Fuel Injection 'specialists'... That's probably not local enough for you.

Have you tried the Yellow Pages to see if there is a classification
specific enough for f.i. systems ?

Re: Bosch Specialists

Yellow Pages has a Bosch classification within the motor section, it is
one of those panels which show all the Bosch dealers and the relative
skill level.

There does seem to be some distinction between injection service and
diagnoses, some get awarded both and others just the one.

I have been tempted to try Doubles Garage, or there is another Bosch
place up Oxford way, any reports of quality would be appreciated.
