824.0. "Fiat Uno Turbo i.e." by CCIIS1::ROGGEBAND () Mon Oct 30 1989 19:11

    Hello,

    Well, my Peugeot 205 CT is due for replacement soon, and one of
    the candidates is the re-vamped Fiat Uno Turbo i.e. I looked in
    the Notesfile for information on the Uno, but all I could find was
    about the 45, 60 and 70.

    Does anyone have a Uno Turbo, who would like to 'share' his experience
    with me ?

    Thanks,

    Amicalement, Philippe.

    I've had one of these beasties for about 6 months now. The car is 3
    years old with about 33,000 on the clock. In general I've been very
    happy with it. It goes very (!) fast, is responsive and handles quite
    well. The driving position takes a while to get used to. You are sat up
    very upright which doesn't feel secure on corners. Cost after 3
    years was reasonable, due to Fiat's very steep depreciation curve.
    Insurance was remarkably cheap considering the car. It has the problem
    seen in .5 with the seat covers wearing.

    	A Uno Turbo is a relatively cheap way of going fast.
824.7I've driven the new modelCOMICS::SHELLEYRRoy Shelley UK TSCWed Jun 06 1990 17:3018
    Hi,

    I had a test drive of the new style uno turbo with the larger engine
    (1370 cc). I was very impressed . It didn't give you the punch when the
    turbo cut in like the R5 GT Turbo, but it certainly went well and I
    thought the finish was very good. The only problem I had being very
    tall was that the the speedo was almost totally obscurred by the
    steering wheel. It now appears to have all the electric goodies that
    the R5 has and it even runs on unleaded. I'm afraid I didn't think it
    is a very attractive car especially from the back (I dislike the flat
    hatchback)

    I have never driven the old style uno turbo. Has anyone else got anyone
    else got comments about this new model. I'm quite surprised its not
    very popular and that there hasn't been any quotes in vtx for it.
