I don't think someone got this one, but never know...
I am desesperately looking for the lyrics (and sheet music) of an old
song from Fats Waller, called "I want some sea-food", or "Hold tight".

I want my favorite dish, fish!
Hold tight, hold tight....
That's all I can understand.

OK - I found one Waller CD with "Hold Tight" (aka the seafood mama song).
"Music Maestro Please", a British compilation on the Jazz Collection
label, # ORO 107. It has "Hold Tight", 3 or 4 other well-known Waller
tunes, and 16 or so others that look like more average fare.
Too bad it isn't on RCA's main sampler, "The Joint is Jumpin'". - Jay
(My own Waller of choice is the 2-CD piano solos set -- if you think his
true greatness lies in his personality as expressed through his
pianism... Two dozen of his solos are top flight jazz improvisation,
part of what Art Tatum built on. Not that I don't queue up a few of his
vocal standards & novelties on occasion!)

| You can get fake books with hundreds of songs at somewhere between 2 to 5
cents a song. They aren't full arrangements, just the words, the melody
line and chords with some important harmonies noted. Most large music
stores have them. Briggs & Briggs in Cambridge is loaded, but I'm sure you
can get them many other places.
Antique stores and resale shops often have old sheet music because of the
covers.

I'm looking for the lyrics and potentially a source to purchase
a copy of a song done by one of the Moddy Blues members in a solo
attempt... It was either Justin Hayward or Mike Pinder, I believe,
and I'm not too sure of the title of the song....I remember some of the
lyric:
"The autumn leaves drift slowly past my window pane,
You always love this time of year,
The winter winds will be much colder now,
'cause you're not here.....
and some of the bridge;
"Like the sun through the trees you came to love me,
Like the leaves on the trees you blew away..."
anybody got any ideas?

Yep, Entwistle did the vocals, on both "Who's Next" and the live album

15.112 | TUFF STUFF | SUBSYS::GODIN | | Wed Feb 24 1993 12:28 | 49 |
| I've been on a quest for over a decade looking for the following
lyrics
etc.
1.
Words & artist's name (or a recording if you can find it)
of a song called "(That was my) Indian Summer", I think.
Airplay only for a short while in Summer of 1973.
2.
Artist's name or a recording of a tune called "I'll Follow You"
Airplay only for a short while in Summer of 1987 (WSHE FM 103
Ft.
Lauderdale ?). Sounds like it could be Bryan Adams or Richard
Marx
3.
The sheet music or the right chords to "Mr. Blue" by The
Fleetwoods.
I have this one on CD & vinyl, but I'm curious as to what he's
*really*
playing, espically for the extended intro.
4.
A recording of that old Boston local hit "It's Not For You" by
The Lost.
Circa 1967 (Dick Summer Subway); I don't even know anyone who
thinks heknows someone whose heard of this one.
5.
I'd also like to borrow recordings of:
"Once Upon A Time" by Teddy & the Pandas
"Lying & Trying" by The Shillings (or The Original Bostonians,
I forget)
(similar vintage etc. as above)
"When You're Young" by The Atlantics (mid '70's Boston local
hit)
(This puppy is available on a frighteningly expensive double
album
compilation, but there must be singles out there too.)
Whatever the only "hit" from Boston local band American Teen
was.
Albatross album (Worcester late '70's)
Wiggy Bitts album (late '70's, maybe local, maybe not [CT, or
NY])
Okay, so who ever said they'd be easy !???
Much thanks,
Paul

15.118 | 'Head East' anyone? | HPSRAD::RENE | no static at all.. | Mon Mar 08 1993 12:25 | 11 |
| Anyone remember a tune by the band 'Head East' that has the line in it
'Save my life I'm goin' down for the last time' (or some such)??
I believe it is from the late '70s judging from the synth sounds on
it. It's got some great minimoog-ish hooks in it as well as some B3.
A male vocal trades lines during some of the verses with a female
vocal. It's a good rocker, and I want to get a copy of it so that I
can bring it up for vote at rehearsal.
Any help greatly appreciated....!

| Hint for Absolute Beginners:
All those simple songs have no more than TWO (if you're lucky you'll
find one with THREE) chords.
Most commonly: C (c,e,g) and G (g,b,d) [and D (d,f#,a)]
A (a,c#,e) and D (d,f#,a) [and E (e,g#,b)]
Keep you're tones within these chords.

And a new day will begin.
I would like to have the lyrics starting from this point until the
end. It ends with

And a new day has begun.
This is my new piano assignment, I have to get it right until Saturday,
I have the sheet but the lyrics are not complete.
Thank you very much.

I'd like them too, also "Gimme Some Loving" if anybody knows it.
A while ago I found that old Spencer Davis cassette in some bargain bin and
thought "great, I can finally learn the words to these things!" No such luck,
even with headphones I can't understand what the **** he's singing :-)

| For "Gimme Some Loving" the Blues Bros. cover is easier to lift the
words from (hopefully Belushi had them right). Check the first Chicago
album (or the CBS hits package) for "I'm A Man".
The CD reissue of the S.D. hits has a much clearer vocal sound than my
LPs do. I almost understood 3/4 of the words 8^) 8^)

| Cross-Posted in Guitar Notes:
My band is occasionally is asked to do a country song (we are NOT!!,
in any way, a country band). Rather than try to do some current
Top40 country hit, I'd like to do my favorite YE-HA!! song,
which is "Life Sucks, Then You Die" by the Fools. I think this
must have been a regional hit in New England because no one out here
in the musical wastelands of Colorado Springs has ever heard of it.
Although the chords are not to difficult to remember (all three of
them), I don't remember all the words. So, if there is anyone out
there that knows all the words, could you please either post them here
or send me mail at CSC32::B_KNOX.
Thanks much,

| Hi.
Does anyone know anything about the expression in English "Rule
Brittania"?
I'm curious about the meaning or how it appeared and started to be
used.
I've seen it in several song lyrics,, from which I can remember
'Industrial Disease' (Dire Straits), saying "... give you Rule
Brittania, gassy beer, page 3..." and Pink Floyd's The Wall 'Waiting
for the Worms' "... would you like to see Britannia Rule again, my
friend? " .
I think there's also on some Led Zeppelin's song, I can't remember it
now.
So, I'd like to know if this is a kind of traditional saying, or story
or expression that people use a lot... or anything else, I really don't
know...
Could you pls help me clear up these 'language doubts' in anyway?
('cause English is not my mother language...)
Waiting on news,
dorival.

| Britannia is also used to refer to the figure on coins, so maybe it
is a symbol for money ??
Then, "Britannia rules" would be like "Money, it's a gas" ;-)
This occurred to me as a possibility because, here in Canada we have
the picture of a beautiful Canadian Loon on our one dollar coin and
the dollar coin is called the "Loonie" without exception, everywhere.
So "loonie" is a symbol for money, here.

Britannia Rules The Waves:
Is the title of a song written at the height of Queen Victoria's British

The song celebrates the fact that Britain's Empire was built on its
navy.
Britain had the strongest navy in the world and therefore was said to

A little background info:
On 19th Dec, my band is doing a gig at my local pub. To spice up the
proceedings, and because of the festive time, there's a theme to the
evening (a simple gig would just be too boring :^). The theme is a
Chicago speakeasy, so we're trying to get together some suitably
"period" songs. The landlord of the pub suggested this song, but
unfortunately, the only version he has is a video of someone doing it
at his daughter's school 10 years ago!!! If I could track down some
sheet music, we might have a fighting chance of performing the song...

15.232 | Anyone have *all* words to "People Get Ready?" | MSBCS::ASHFORTH | | Mon Dec 20 1993 13:58 | 15 |
| A long time ago I had the Chambers Brothers album with the cut "People Get
Ready." Apparently it got lost in one of those stormy events which tends to
leave you with fewer resources than you started with...
I'd love to do that song at an upcoming gig; if anyone has the complete lyrics,
please E-mail them to me at MSBCS::ASHFORTH.
I can't swear that the Rod Stewart version (which IMHO doesn't measure up to the
Chambers Bros. version!) has the exact same lyrics, but I imagine it's likely
that it does. Just the same, if you mail me lyrics, please indicate what version
they're from.

| I'm a Fool for the City,
I don't mind if I die-
Push me onto the railroad tracks,
I'll never ask you "Why?"
Off me with an Ouzi,
Stab me with your knife,
But do it in the city,
For the city is my life!
I'm a Fool for the City,
And smog is what I breathe.
Thirteen years on unemployment,
But still I couldn't leave.
Take away the neon light,
I swear that I'd be blind,
In the silence of the countryside
I know I'd lose my mind!

ooops, k=now that you mention it, I do know that it is "Money For

I was working in the lab
late one night
when my eyes beheld an eerie sight
my monster from his slab began to rise
and suddenly, to my surprise
he did the mash, he did the monster mash
the monster mash
it was a graveyard smash
the zombies were having fun,
the party had just begun,
the guests included wolfman, Dracula and his son
out from his coffin Drac's voice did ring
seemed he was troubled by just one thing,
opened the lid, and shook his fist
"whatever happened to the Transylvania Twist?"
and now the mash etc etc

Now everything's cool, Drac's a part of the band.
And my Monster Mash is the hit of the land.
For you, the living, this mash was meant, too.
When you get to the door tell them ???* sent you
* never could make out that word
And you can mash And you can Monster Mash.
The Monster Mash It was a graveyard smash.
You can mash It caught on in a flash.
The Monster Mash You'll do the Monster Mash.
The outro follows with lots of bubbling-flask-laboratory noises and
"Boris" making comments like, "Igor, you impetuous fool. . ."
*Sigh*. . .they just don't write 'em like that any more. . .

that is how songwriters obtained copyrights ... and I'm sure these

But actually *printing* it so someone could buy it... nope.

| Hi,
I'm looking for the Guitar solo TAB of "Still Got The Blues" by Gary MOORE.
And I've a problem with the chords (found in ftp.uwp.edu)...
How to play a "Bm7b5" ? I know the "x20231",or "x2323x" position,
but I want to play it at the 5th or + fret.
Same problem with the "Am/C"...
"Cadd2" and "Dadd2" are both hard to play, I've the Cadd2: "x75533x"
position, but I would like to find a way more easy.
I have a "x35453" for the Cmaj7, I think it sound better than the ftp
version (x32000).
Great song, nice chords and solo.(chouettes accords...)
-Fred-
PS: I Thanks the authors for the ftp version of "Still Got the blues"
chords...

Hmmm... I don't have big hands. It's just a Bm shape with a little
stretch for the pinky to the 9th fret. The more your thumb goes
under and down the neck, the easier it is... Ok, how about the
root with your thumb for a 7xx765 ??
Of course, I'd just play the top 3 and let the bass player play
the root. Plus, keyboard players don't like all those strings
at once anyway, right Mark?? ;^)

"Bm7b5 xx9765" is hard to play between the "Fmaj7 xx3210" and Esus4.
"Am/C xx10-9-10-8" is what I wanted, thanks.
I play finally "Cadd2 x755x" and "Dadd2 x9777x". What do you think
about it?

Too easy! ;-) but thanks, I keep it in mind for other songs.
I think there is too much BASS note in this chord. :-()

That's why I want to play those chords in "high frets" (5 or +).thanks.

It has been popular in U.S. in 1960's-70's, I heared.
Here I have a memo from an old songbook published in Japan, but
I'm not sure whether it's correct or not.
It says:
He is not just a soldier in the brown uniform;
He is not just a soldier, He is somebody's son;
His heart may be hardened of the things he has done;
He is not just a soldier, He is somebody's son;
He is not just a soldier, He is somebody's love;
He is not just a soldier, He is somebody's friend;
And many a friend on the shores back home.
For the soldier that marching in a brown uniform;
God help him only, that he is still marching on;
He is calling for soldier, Oh why don't you come,
And fight against evil; When the victory is won,
He is not just a soldier, but one of God's son.

Gosh, you must be really desperate!! REDNEX is a "fake" group of puppets
in the hands of some anonymous producer who lauhgs all the way to the

Emmy,
pardon me I didn't mean any offence or so but...
REDNEX are playing on the radio all the time here i Sweden and I cant help but
get upset at th fact that this kind of "music" gets all the air play when there
are thousands of good bands out there never beeing played. Just letting off some
steam...
BTW, If you want to play the violin to the REAL STUFF, that is THE ORIGINAL TUNE:
Check out THE DUBLINERS (sorry dont't know which record!) but the violin part in
DEADNEX "Cotton Eye Joe" comes from an old DUBLINERS tune. Stolen, like the rest
of the song!

"I hardly know what to say,
