2110.0. "How to Commute from Leominster to Lexington" by TNPUBS::WOODWARD (I'll put this moment...here) Thu May 01 1997 14:33

Hi:

I am trying to help a student from Leominster find the best way to get
to her summer internship in Lexington MA.

The company where she will be working is off Hartwell Ave in Lexington.

She doesn't have a car, so she is looking into public transportation, car
pooling, or a combination of both.

One option is to take the T to Cambridge and then take buses back toward
Lexington. However, there are many connections and it would take about
2 hours one way.

The T goes to the West Concord station, which is about the closest T stop
to her destination. Is there a bus service that can get her to Lexington?

She tried the carpool matching service, but didn't find any pools from
Leominster to Lexington.

Any idea of a way to get from Leominster or any T-stops in between to Lexington?

This is a very common problem with public transport: No connections from
the nearest transit stop to the workplace.
Just yesterday I was helping someone work a similar problem. There is an
MBTA bus running down Bedford St. (routes 4 & 225). It stops near the end
of Hartwell Ave. However, Hartwell Ave. is a mile long, so your friend may
need a ride from the bus stop to the workplace.
I think there is a bus link from one or more commuter rail stops on the
Fitchburg line to the bus that runs on Hartwell Ave. If I think of it, I
will go over my transit map at home and see if it's doable without going all
the way into Cambridge and backtracking.
