I'm a letter writer. Sometimes I am writing "letters" to you here.
(like now ;-)... I often wrote letters to GDTS.
When I did mailorder, I most times included -some- sort of greeting.
If I received some especially choice seats, I wrote after the show to
thank them and let them know how much I Enjoyed! being up close.
When I got moved from good to nosebleed during a series, but lots of
people I knew got to be down on the floor at least one night, I wrote
to let them know that I thought they were doing a cool thing by
   spreading that around.
(I told Deane-o this once although that was in regard to Lake Carmi -
I wrote them and told them I thought they did a great job with all us
   deadheads - and he told me "oh Debess, you're such a brown-nose" ;-) -
but, really, I just appreciate the humaness of this organization and
always felt I was sending my letters to fellow 'heads who might enjoy
   hearing some kind/complimentary words...

When I sent back my Boston Garden tickets for refund, I wrote a letter
then too. It was a while ago, so I don't remember exactly what I wrote.
I remember I sent my condolences, and then went on to say that I realized
from my reaction to Jerry's death, that I have lost a family member too.
I -think- I included my story about how I heard of Jerry's death,
with noone around who could understand, and how I just went outside,
popped in a tape and drove to a quiet spot to watch the ripples reflected
on the banks of a tiny brook as I cried by myself.
At the end of the letter, I said something like "if the boys decide
to continue, I'll be there. I still need to hear them."

Well! Along with my refund (that I received on Thursday), I received
a handwritten note back! It said:

       Here's hoping they will!
Not just because we need them to, but because they do too...
Hope you feel o.k. Your letter got to me... I did the same thing...
                                   love, Ruby

very cool Debess. It's so nice to think of the organization as
    one of actual intheflesh people.

we once had an interaction with Pearl from the GD ticket office.
we had to send our Albany tickets back that year (91? 92?) because
she said the seats had to be removed for equipment. we called when the
shows were drawing near because we hadn't received the replacement
tickets yet. Pearl offered to FedEx them to wherever we were staying
    on tour :-)

I think Steve Marcus is the head honcho at GDTS (I got the feeling
that GerryG knew him well) and my mind thinks that Cassidy Law
(there he goes, here she starts fame) might work there too.
We had to deal with Mr. Marcus when we had the wrong # of NY's tickets
back in '83/'84. They did us decent at the 'will call' window.

i don't know about "knew him well", but Ger is at least acquainted with
    Steve...

i don't think Cassidy works there but i know her Mom, Eileen does...
could be wrong about that though...

and i also agree tht GDTS pretty much wrote the book on how to treat
customers... very cool folks... i've always felt like they weren't
selling me something so much as they were helping me get something, you
    know?

I met Steve Marcus at a Nassau show a couple of years ago...this was
right after Dan Healy left the Dead.

Steve was sitting at the ticket verification table outside the show.
He was really cool and friendly, answering all of my questions and
confirming/denying all of the latest rumors I had heard.
While we were sitting there, a couple of girls came over with tickets
to confirm. They were true tickets, but free ones that were given
to some employees (the name of the org escapes me). The girls bought them
from a scalper for $50 each.

Steve picks up his walkie and says, "Cassidy? Cassidy, can you look
for the name of the vendors of these tickets? The seats are at (blah
blah blah)...they were scalped for $50 a piece."

Later he said that Cassidy Law was the person working for GDTS inside
    the arena.

GDTS and GDM both have excellent attitudes to their customers.
Whenevr I order something form GDM, I ususally get something extra...
stickers, patches....Once, when my order was backlogged a month, I got
    a t-shirt.....Pretty cool people.....

I think there is/was a Bam Bam at GDTS also.

I got my ticket refund for both BG runs in last night's mail.

I asked for a refund, and to have the tickets back. I wrote a note,
thanking them for all the good seats they gave me, and even for the not
    so good ones.

I also wrote in that I was planning on donating the refund to my
favorite charity, which is Easter Easls. I wrote that I have been
raising money for them, since my mother died, in 1982. I have played in
Volleyball Marathons, and have raised close to $30,000 for Easter
    Seals.

So, on the stub that came with my check:

    Dear Jim!
I read your letter with awe (underlined) and interest. What a right-on
thing to do! We salute you. Your mother is surely smiling from
    heaven....
    					Love, Ruby

I think Ruby's been busy. Wasn't it Debess or Carol who got a note
back from Ruby? I wrote a short note of condolences and hoping
to do business with them again in the future and how one of the
shows was going to be a birthday show, but that really didn't matter
    any more...
Amd I got a note back on the stub of the check, saying thanks, and
have to see whether they could survive, though sounding hopeful, and
a ps hoping my friends had treated me right on my bd, signed
    love Ruby!

I still haven't gotten my refund for 4 taper tix at Boston Garden.
I sent the tix back, oh, late Sept./early Oct..
I just called the tix problem hotline 415-457-8094 (at 11:30 EST) and got
the damn answering machine. Is there anyone there??? Wait a few hours
and call again? Is there another # to call? I'm getting quite annoyed.

I'd say try again later. They keep semi-normal business hours at

yep, I just call and talked to a friendly_human. They didn't find anything
on my return, which he said was actually good, cause that means its in the
process of being processed, and could even be in the mail. Ie. if they
_did_ have some record of it, I got the idea that that would mean they _had_
processed it, and it got lost in the mail. ?huh? did I intepret their
modus operandi correctly?
