192.0. "Gone but not forgotten" by VINO::KOMAR (Deeply Intertwingled) Tue Sep 10 1991 13:17

I just discovered a former DEChead is available through mail on the
Internet. I figured that a topic for pointers to such folk might
be useful. Here it is. I'll even start it off, in the next reply

The former Althea::rose is now rose@saber.com.

Bob Rose now works at Saber, in Cambridge MA. He says that he's
been there for 9 months, and likes it.

P.P.S Gosh, I hope this isn't old news.

P.P.P.S if it isn't old news, then he sure is going to be
surprised, if he gets deluged with mail. I didn't tell him I was

Ahh, I thought I remembered someone having the node name ALTHEA. I was
surprised when I put in for it and got it!

Chuck,

That was my node for a while, moving one of the two offices that I
have to MRO1, and not being willing to wait for the de-registering of that
area 9 address made me decide to give it up. Enjoy!

spent some time talking with John Heffernan at
Slip Into Summer on Saturday...guess what - he's graduated!
That was fast! So now, he's interviewing for an
elementary teacher job and he's pretty excited about
	starting his new career...

He spent most of the day juggling and entertaining ...
as it got darker, he LIT UP his "devil's sticks" and
was flipping these burning twirling things through
	the air! YOW!

Some old DECcies I saw at Shoreline were Seth (and Etsuko) Jackson, and
Kevin (and Jackie) Clarke. Andy Nourse also made it out in time for the
Cal Expo run. The incredulous look on his (and I'm sure on all of our)
face during Baba O'Riley said it all 8-). I also saw Ken Blakkan (who
did not do any bungee-jumping before the show last time I checked, but
he can verify this for himself 8-) and John Mirassou (old DECcies, but
not ex-DECcies ;-)

Debess called me this morning. She misses us all and hopes to meet up
with folks in Albany before the Sunday show. She did mailaway and
with her order, included a note that told about how 20 years ago on
3/28, she and Guntis (?) had their first date/first show...so
please_please_please_please could they get ticket order filled for
Albany this time, even though it wasn't an Albany show that they went
to 20 years ago. And LO and BEHOLD ! They got all three nites. she
got fourth row floor section 2 for sunday nite. tell me that GDTS
    doesn't read every order !!

So that calls for a celebration...let's see if we can figure a meeting
up spot on Sunday before the show - I'll take this subject to the
    proper note : "meeting-up places"

Anyway she is doing great things for herself (in addition to looking
for work) : x-c skiing, health club, bought a PC, joined a UU woman's
support group, and generally feeling peaceful.

There's some kind of irony, or at least a hidden straight
line in the fact that all this talk of age and birthdays
is in the "Gone but not forgotten" note.

I too think time speeds up as you get older. Really
old people don't actually die, but rather they just jump
into warp speed and vanish. Sometime in the next millinium,
there's a whole shitload of formerly old people, hangin'
out, waiting for the rest of us to catch up....?

    Thanks for the "Happy" wishes.

    Time speeding up. Consider this:

    When I'm 10 a year is 1/10th of my life. That's a big chunck.

When I'm 37 a year is a mere 1/37th of my life. Not such a high
percentage. I imagine that by the time I reach 50-60 a year will seem
like a month compared to when I was 16.
