22.0. "Meeting Places" by BIODTL::FERGUSON (Obscured by Clouds) Thu Jan 10 1991 17:33

This topic has been set aside to discuss good meeting places
	at various venues.

Occasionally, this topic will be purged of replies that are
digressive in nature. Replies that detail meeting places
	shall remain.

Please do not discuss where you're headed or where you're
seated here (use topic 21). Also, directions to various
venues should be placed in topic 19 (direx to meeting places
	may stay here).

I just happen to have direx online to the Commonwealth Brewery:

Once in the vicinity of the Boston Garden, look for the Pussycat Cinema
across the stree from the Garden, to the right, and it's a short walk

Though the Cambridge Brewery has *superior* brew IMHO, direx I happen
to have online for Commonwealth Brewery are attached. I also made a
stab at direx to Cambridge BC.

/Ken

Cambridge Brewery is sort of like this:

/ small "plaza", Cambridge BC is tucked in back
			    \ / in a corner

FORK (about 1/2 - 1 mile? from bridge staying at all

Commonwealth Brewery:

stout, porter, Boston's Best Burton Bitter Ale (my favorite), Amber
Ale, just plane light Ale, and specialty brews like Celtic Ale (very
strong,	served warm in a small glass), plus some others occasionally.

A quick map follows for either place... Look for a cinema
across from the Garden, to the right, and it's a short walk up Merrimac
	Street.

Hill Street Cafe is 180 Madison Ave. (FYI: Madison Ave. is Route 20.)
The arena is on Pearl St. (at least one side of it anyway).

    If my memory is okay..

From Hill St., you would walk 3 blocks down the hill (Madison Ave),
and then go left on Pearl St. for about 2 blocks and you should
    hit the arena.

So, to find Hill St... walk around the arena until you're on Pearl
St., and then do all that backwards. :^) In case my memory sucks
(always a possibility :^).. the phone number of the bar is
    518-462-3544.

I'll stop by on Sunday. Saturday, I'll try to hit the Seva booth
    during break.

    See you all there!

I'd like to meet up with folks tomorrow - who's going besides
	Cath and Chris? /bruce?

this is all tentative on my part, because Guntis went to CT
today to see his parents and I don't know when he'll return.
But, my plans are to leave home around 4:30 - and that means
arriving in Durham around 6:00. But then what? I have no
idea what the town is like or where to meet up there.
	Anyone have a suggestion?

there are 3 bars in the town....Mike Libby's, Benjamins and the Wildcat
which is actually a pizza shop.....

If i do get over there in my own car it will be about the same time....
maybe we can meet at the Licker Store (coffee and yogurt shop) on Main
Street....right dead smack in the middle....
(say hi to Sully if he is working! :^)

    yup

    the licker store
mike libby's is 3 doors up across the street (heading towards 108) and
benjamin's is on the first street on the right (one block down from the
    licker store)

bag the wildcat...no sense going there

I probably won't get to Durham much before 7ish...

I've only been there once, about 3 years ago, so I'll be lucky
just to find a place to park before the show...

So if you see me driving around in a daze (or other small car),
    please flag me down!
