1077.0. "no way to define transport=decnet??" by MUNICH::REIN (It's not Burgundy, it's Bordeaux!!) Tue Apr 23 1996 09:26

    hallo,

    I want to have one scheduler server on a vms machine and also
    anagent installed on another vms machine.

    When installing an agent, prerequisit for installing is , that I
    install UCX first.

    Is there no other transport allowed thant tcp/ip delivered by ucx??
    Even on two vaxes, connected via decnet?

1077.1TCP/IP for UCX is requiredMUZICK::MORIARTYTue Apr 23 1996 21:1515

    Sorry, but the OpenVMS Agent was developed using the same
    archectiture the UNIX and NT agent use. This is done exclusively
    with tcp/ip from the UCX connection services. In addition, when
    you installed the Scheduler Server the functionality for remote
    executor required UCX be installed, otherwise there is no
    IPC socket libraries linked in to the server. So the UCX
    product must exist in both the Server and Agent of OpenVMS
    and if the Server was installed without remote executor
    capablity because UCX was not on the system you will need
    to re-install.

    I know you don't like this answer but it is a helpful
    insight which will save on the frustration later.
