1054.0. "Support for OpenVMS V6.2 ?" by COL01::SPIEGELBERG (Elmar S. - D1-OSS Cologne) Tue Apr 02 1996 09:52

	Maybe asked 100 times and more: which version of Scheduler
	is supported under OpenVMS Alpha V6.2 (the first release for
	Turbolasers!) and when will Scheduler V3.0 become available
	for OpenVMS Alpha?

    Regarding your question about Scheduler support for OpenVMS V6.2,
    please see notes 809 and 850 and their replies.

    Regarding your question about Scheduler V3.0 and when it will
    be supported on OpenVMS Alpha, please send mail to GLRMAI::BHATIA
    or Raminder Bhatia @TAY, product manager for Scheduler.

1054.2SUPPORTED is the questionCOL01::SPIEGELBERGElmar S. - D1-OSS CologneWed Apr 03 1996 11:579
	The emphasis in my question in .0 lies on:

	Is DECscheduler *supported* under OpenVMS Alpha V6.2?

	My customer bought new Turbolaser systems as replacement for
	other DEC7000/10000 systems and now has to migrate the application
	onto OpenVMS Alpha V6.2. What we need is SUPPORT if there will
	be problems with DECscheduler? The SPD officially tells us, that
	DECscheduler is supported under OpenVMS Alpha V6.1!
1054.3SCHEDULER V2.1B ON OVMS V6.2GLRMAI::BHATIATue Apr 16 1996 17:077
The current version of Scheduler V2.1b on OVMS does not support OVMS V6.2. The SPD # 32.19.05 only mentions V6.1
of OVMS as the latest release supported. The plan is to support OVMS V6.2 in the next rlease of Scheduler on OVMS,
which is planned to be released in Q1FY97.

    From V6.2 release notes:
    .
    .
    Hardware Support

    The following hardware support has been added in OpenVMS Version 6.2:

         o  New Alpha Systems:

                 AlphaServer 8200 5/300
                 AlphaServer 8400 5/300
                 AlphaServer 2100 5/250
                 AlphaStation 600 5/266
    .
    .

    This means you place scheduler out of the possible products to sell.
    More or less a dead product. As a customer has to select he/she will say
    - I buy another SUPPORTED product.

    How can we sell ALpha's which require VMS V6.2 and Scheduler is not
    supported to run on it ?

    <FLAME OFF>

    I think you can not really mean this if you want to keep scheduler as a
    digital product.
