814.0. "install juke and standalone drive?" by CSC32::R_ROBERTSON () Fri Mar 21 1997 17:05

    What is the mechanics for installing both a Jukebox and
    a standalone optical drive (v3.4). This is a VMV based
    install . In Digital Unix osms has a question
    "drives not in JB [0-8]:" but in v3.4 OSMS there
    is the question" Is this the first jukebox installed
    on your system " which allows a JBA,JBB, etc.
    Can OSMS and OSDS be installed at the same time?

    Thanks

814.1For V3.4 answer "configure a system" with YESTAPE::SENEKERHead banging causes brain mushFri Mar 21 1997 19:0342
    Yes, OSDS and OSMS V3.4 can be installed at the same time
    (They are the same thing).

    Two avenues:

    1) Install OSDS then OSMS.

    2) Install OSMS then install OSDS, answer the following question, "YES"

    * Are you running this procedure only to configure a system [NO]: YES

       The answer the questions as normal looking for.....

    LASERWARE$STARTUP_A.CONFIGURE will be copied to the SYS$MANAGER
    directory. Other startup files with the .CONFIGURE extension may
    have been copied to SYS$MANAGER.

       After the install is complete, verify that the WD$STARTUP_PKx.COM
       file has the WD device specified in LASERWARE$STARTUP_A.CONFIGURE.
       Depending on how you answered the questions, a file WD$STARTUP_PKx.
       CONFIGURE may have been created, if so, add the device shown in that
       command file to the WD$STARTUP_PKx.COM file. Then rename
       LASERWARE$STARTUP_A.CONFIGURE to LASERWARE$STARTUP_A.COM.

       At this point you should be able to use OSDS and OSMS if you have
       both license paks.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

    When you "configure a system", you are not installing the software.
    You are only building a sample startup command file that you can rename
    later if it meets your needs.

    Some of the intents of this process are prevent OSDS and OSMS
    installations from modifying product components that prevent a drive
    or jukebox from operating. Also, it helps speed up the install and
    was suppose to make configuring drives and jukeboxes or multiple
    jukeboxes easier. The installation manual has some information
    regarding this process.

    I see note 494.1 says OSDS and OSMS can run concurrently
