    Hi,

I've been a Michael Franks fan for 20 years since I heard his
Sleeping Gypsy album. His rendition of the I Love Lucy theme on the
Dragonfly Summer album is terrific (not to mention the title cut, and the
songs "The Dream" and "How I Remember You").
A great thing about his albums is that he employs some fabulous
musicians and from listening to his albums I've discovered some players
who are now my favorites (such as guitarist Larry Carlton).
He also does a lot of tunes with a Brazilian influence and I'm
    partial to that.

I was introduced to Michael Franks vocals by my hairdresser. Still
smile when I think of "Popsicle Toes"....

Wonderful! (;^) I was just introduced to his music earlier this year,
and now possess all but one of his CDs. My favorites are "Dragonfly
Summer" and "Blue Pacific", with "Tiger In The Rain" and "Passionfruit"
    running a close second.

Yes, the innuendo smile...just like the one Michael has in his picture
on the back of "One Bad Habit". (;^>

His latest CD came out only several weeks ago entitled, "Abandoned
Garden", which is dedicated to his late friend Antonio Carlos Jobim.
Some wonderful songs on that CD...my favorite is, "Must Be Paradise".
The songs he writes in Antonio's memory really convey the deep feelings
    he had for him.

Sorry! I just had seen other lyrics posted and assumed...I guess they
were only partial ones, and they are allowed?

In theory, no... I just didn't catch them... :-)

That's just the rules here... there are other conferences which
allow lyrics to be posted. Not very consistent, I know, but it's
been the policy here for years since lyrics are copyrighted
material. Enforcing the policy keeps Digital from getting sued...
    in theory at least.

A couple lines here and there are allowed, though ... if you
want to post 1/2 a verse, or a whole verse, or something like
that. Is there a defined "max" for this?

Ah, OK...and I did find the conference policy...cleverly hidden in note
    15.0. (;^)

The "only partial lyrics" is not DEC policy. It's right out
    of the copyright law.

I seem to recall a max, defined somewhere, of about 35 words...
Applies to things like movie ads quoting critics, as well.

MF also does a nice duet with Livingston Taylor on Liv's
new album "Good Friends" (I think).
