735.0. "Name That Tune!" by MTCLAY::DOUGLAS () Thu Oct 12 1995 17:06

I need your help out there. I am trying to recall a song
that was written about a year ago.

I cannot remember the singer's name or the title of the song!
I can only remember bits and pieces of the lyrics. If someone
can tell me the singer/song I would appreciate it. This is
somewhat of a nursery song. It is a song about Whinnie the Poo.

I think it was sung by Kenny Loggins ???

So here goes: Name That Tune.....

Back to the days of Christopher Robin....
Got to get back to the house....
Count all the bees in the hive....

    thanks, tina

And I'm pretty sure that Kenny Loggins wrote it, as well.

Anyone know the story about that album? The cover says
"Kenny Loggins, with Jim Messina Sittin' In".

Didn't Messina produce it? I wonder if it was really a
Loggins solo album but Messina did so much that they
    	called it "Sittin' In".

Btw, Anne Murray had a hit with her cover of Pooh.

Yes, that's pretty much what happened. If I'm not mistaken, that's
similar to how Messina ended up in Buffalo Springfield after their
original bass player was deported back to Canada.

Never heard that one, are you sure you're not thinking of "Danny's Song"?

Well since we are on name that tune...

I teach a drum corps and I am interested in a song, not sure if its
a remake or the original. But it is starting to be played alot..

    Start out like this...

"Ohhh Ohhh child, things are going to get easier"
"Ohhh Ohhh child, things will get brighter"

Consider it to your advantage that I am writting it and not really
    singing it. 8*)

    Thanks

This is also a line from the Temptations classic, "Don't Look Back", circa
'65 or so. (Covered by Jagger/Tosh, and others.) Every single line from
the song is great, actually. Forget which Motown songwriter(s) actually
  wrote it... Jay

Thanks Jay! I betcha that's the one I heard on the radio that
prompted me to post my inquiry.

  P.S. on Don't Look Back

I rediscovered this song on the 5-CD set of remastered Temps stuff.

(Incidentally, 2-CD subsets of all the recent Motown 5-CD boxes -- Smokey,
Temps, Marvin Gaye, Supremes -- are coming out now... For the less than
  rabid.)

Maybe every line of "Don't Look Back" isn't great, but the vocal makes it
seem that way -- one of those unbelievable R&B gems. (Like Hank Ballard's
"Tore Up", 5 Royales "Women About to Make Me Go Crazy", so many Motown and
  Stax songs.) - Jay

If it's love that you're running from...
    There's no hiding place. <Can't run, you can't hide, you can't run...>
You have problems and <mumble mumble> problems...
you just have to face. <Can't run etc.>
And if you'll just put your hand in mine,
We're gonna leave all our troubles behind...
Keep on walking, don't look back... (repeat)
<<mumble> will find you, there to remind you...>

If your first lover broke your heart,
There's something that can be done...
Don't end your faith in love
Because of what he's done... etc.

Love can be such a beautiful thing
Though your first love let you down...
    <mumble mumble...
<mumble> the second time around... etc.

ooh ooh child was done in the 70's by The Five Stairsteps.

I think it has just been recently re-done by a better known
group which I can't think of, it's a funkier version.
