                            *** WORLD MUSIC ***

We at 1040 MIDI and Music are proud to be involved in launching this
exciting new music service for the musician. 1040 will serve as the
central global mail hub for World Music. All mail cost will be
handled by World Music, and 1040 MIDI and Music BBS will poll at least
   twice a week for mail.

If you find this as exciting as we do and want to participate in
becoming one of the Music World Nodes please send us Fido netmail to
1:153/7040, or Internet email to world_music@ship.net requesting the
application package. The package, containing complete network
information and application form, will then be sent back to you.

   Sincerely,

WORLD MUSIC STRIKES CHORD WITH BUDDING SONGWRITERS AND
                                MUSICIANS

January 27, 1994 - Vancouver BC - A unique company, set to serve
the needs of emerging songwriters and musicians of all genres from
around the world was launched in Vancouver today.

Most businesses are divided into two groups; those who are "in the
know" and those who are desperately trying to learn. The music
business is no different ,in fact the gap is accentuated in the
entertainment industry. As long as there has been popular music,
valuable information has been seemingly inaccessible for the
majority of those who choose to make music their livelihood.

WORLD MUSIC IS ABOUT TO CHANGE ALL THAT

A void of uncertainty and obscurity for struggling songwriters and
musicians exist. World Music, via the latest telecommunication and
computer technology, offer the following services to help the
musician of today make his way through the maze of record
companies, publishing companies and performing rights societies:

-A copyright registration program ensuring songwriters retain
copyright to their own works. Each member will receive a
         verification certificate of registration.

-From the copyright registration program an extensive music
catalogue will be made available via direct access computerized
         A & R.

-A centralised, computer based, information contact service
will provide our members with an easy to use service to locate
and target the people in the industry who make the decisions.

-A resource centre will be made available to our membership
to help with problem solving as it relates to the music
         industry internationally.

Myles Kavanagh, President of World Music Corp., having received
positive trade response in his native England, is excited about
the growth potential in the music industry with expanding new
markets in the Far East and new member countries of the EEC. In a
recent interview Kavanagh stated, " The industry has become
increasingly complex, particularly with the entertainment
technology. We are providing the initial support and guidance for
songwriters and musicians to take the crucial steps towards
successful careers. Because we have no bias and are non-partisan
we have the best interest of the songwriter or the musician in
    mind.

No offense intended to the poster (Brian), but *what a crock*!

This sort of commercialism in the name of altruism is popping up all
over Usenet, and the music business in general. "For a fee, we'll be
glad to tell you things that you already know and put you into a
world-wide database of completely gullible idiots, just like yourself".
That's what these jerks are really saying.

Look, you want to retain the "copyrights" to your music? Write the
Library of Congress. If you can fill out the paperwork to give to the
above scam-artists, you can fill out the LoC form.

Looking for a real source of contact information? Try the Recording
    Industry Source Book...

Looking for a real recording studio, not a "we'll make you a star" BS
outfit? Try the Mix Magazine directory for your region.

Looking to contact other musicians via computer? Try PAN and some of
    the artist-oriented BBS.

As for these phoney-bologne faux-Tree Hugging/PC "record companies",
"resources" and "publishers", and similar scum off the pond of human
existance, try a .357 with hollow points.
