602.0. "Rock Video Monthly" by QRYCHE::STARR (Coldest winter in almost 14 years....) Tue Jan 25 1994 20:03

In an effort to try and keep up with the lastest in music, I joined a new
service from Warner Brothers called Rock Video Monthly. They send me a
VHS videotape with 10 new songs on it every month, for $2.98 per tape. There's
no obligation to buy anything else, and you can quit at any time.

They have four categories: Pop, Alternative, Metal, and Rap. To give you an
idea of what's on the tapes, here's a listing of this month's artists. (You
choose just one category, and that's the tape they send you each month.)

Pop: Bobby Brown (w/Whitney Houston), En Vogue, Melissa Etheridge, Expose,
BeeGees, Deborah Harry, George Michael, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers,
Tears For Fears, and Jodi Whatley.

Alternative: Blind Melon, The Breeders, Catherine Wheel, The Cure,
4 Non-Blondes, Inxs, Lemonheads, Radiohead, Matthew Sweet,
	     and Urge Overkill.

Metal: Anthrax, Bad Brains, Hater, I Mother Earth, Ozzy Osbourne, Pro-Pain,
Sepultura, Swervedriver, Therapy?, and Steve Vai

Rap: Coolio, Del The Funky Homosapien, Digital Underground, Guru, Leaders
Of The New School, Shaquille O'Neal, Salt 'n Pepa, Too $hort, A Tribe
     Called Quest, and 2Pac.

True, you might be able to see most of these if you were glued to MTV, but
for me it seems like a decent way to check out new music for just a couple
bucks a month.

If I remember, tomorrow I'll post the 800-number you call to sign up (I forgot
it at home).

The 800-number to sign up is 1-800-544-5551. Don't know if you really need
it or not, but if they ask for it, the Department number is RV9.

I've received them for a couple months now, and I enjoy them. The S&H is
high (of course!), $2.89 per video.
