580.0. "WET WET WET" by WOTVAX::LIVINGSTONEP (Survive! get a little crazy...) Tue Dec 21 1993 13:17

Any Wet Wet Wet fans out there.
Went to see them on their End of Part One tour.
    Effectively, their greatest hits tour.
    The lads done well!!!
They could do with some new material though, they always seem to
deliberate long and hard then BAM a mega album.
    Ace group, nice people.

No.1 for 9th week in UK with "Love is all Around".
One 1995 concert venue announced for July 1995 at Manchester - SELL
OUT IN ONE DAY. Regardless of the knocks they are MEGA in the UK.
"End of Part One - Their Greatest Hits" Album back in UK Top 10 LP
Charts, this from an album released last year!
        New album being worked on.
Somebody must be buying somewhere, obviously not in Digital.
Hey, perhaps we should buy into the band and make some profit ;-)

    Phil,

I think it's time you came clean on this one and declared your
'personal interest' in much the same way as politicians are supposed to
    do....

    OK, Graham.
Just because I know the drummer(Tom) and regularly get to go backstage on
tours and get freebies from Marti and the lads, doesn't mean I
    don't appreciate the music ;-))
They are No.1 and have been for 9 weeks. And I promise, I haven't been
buying the singles to bump up sales. I work for Digital remember....
Someone out there *must* like them.
Listen to the music, it covers a wide range of tastes.
    Phil.

Will they be playing in the New England area at all?

I would *assume* the 1995 tour will be a world tour.
They have previously only toured as headliners in Europe, where they
    generally play to sell-out venues.
They have toured the Americas twice, so far, as support for Lionel Ritchie
    and Elton John.
As I said, the tour will be after they release their next album, which
    is *way* overdue.
When I get the dates I'll post them here.

580.6No interest, yet?MUGGER::LIVINGSTONESurvive! get a little crazy...Wed Sep 07 1994 08:276
It looks like the Wets haven't made much of an impact in the States,
    yet!
The song "Love is All Around", which is in its 15th week at number 1 in
the UK, has only *just* entered the US charts at number 46.
It will be interesting to see if the song goes massive in the states.
Perhaps there'll be more interest shortly?

The success of 'Love is all Around' seems to me to indicate how people
still love a 'good tune' and how current writers are, in general,
unable to produce the goods. This song has been No 1 here for 13(?)
weeks and really, it is not an *exceptional* song. When it was originally
released by the Troggs in 68/69 it was a hit but I'm not sure it even
made No 1. If it did then certainly not for the time the current
rendition has been there. You have to consider the competition then
which included the Beatles of course.

Bryan Adams 'Everything I do....' is also another example. A good song
but worthy of megaweeks at No 1?
