Hmmm, some weird voice in the back of my brain is insisting that
it was a Harry Nilson song. Don't know if you should trust the
voice, though.

Use the voice, Hal! It was indeed, Harry Nilson. I think the LP title
might have been "Nilson, Shmilson" or something like that -- too many
bramaged dane cells in that area to be sure...

Re: .10

It's on RCA-BMG, the cover is basically "Nilson" at the top and "SONGWRITER"
across the middle. I wrote down the catalog number, but don't have it
with me at the moment.

Dustin Hoffman took a little time out during his speech on Comic Relief
VI, observing that this was the 20-odd anniversary of the release of
Midnight Cowboy, and that Harry Nillson, the man that wrote
"Everybody's Talkin'" had just passed away, and call for a moment to
    remember him. Very classy.

Yeah, but Harry only *sang* the tune, he didn't write it. I believe
the honor belongs to Fred Neil.

Funny, Harry didn't write "Without You" either, Pete Ham did. Sheesh,
a writer whose two best-known songs are covers. Oh well...sad to see
    him go anyway.

Just picked up the new 2-disc set "Personal Best - The
Harry Nilsson Anthology" (RCA). The sound quality is
superb. Liner notes (booklet) containing photos and
an article (abbreviated from its appearance in Goldmine
    just after Harry's passing).

More after I listen to it for a while. My first impression
is they did a decent job of aiming for mass-market appeal
while also giving collectors something. If you were to
buy just one Nilsson album, this would be an excellent choice.
