528.0. "Issac Hayes" by HGRD01::STEVELIU () Tue Oct 26 1993 00:47

I would like to reserve this note for the music of Issac Hayes.

If you recall, he is the one who wrote and performed the theme
from Shaft, stunning music in the 70's.

The soundtracks from Shaft is still one of my favorite black
    musicians performing album.

I also love the Soundtrack to "Shaft". It has always been a "closet"
favorite of mine and I was rather surprised to hear it singled out by
    anyone else.

That stuff he did for Shaft was terrific. It even sounds good when the
    Simpsons sing it.

I met Isaac in Providence at WJAR-TV/Outlet Company in 1973 when I was
working there for the summer and he was in to do a promo for his concert
    that night.

Very cool (and large!) dude, very amiable and talkative.

His car was a white stretch limo with Pennsylania license plate:
"MOSES", which was drawing a lot of attention down on Weybosset Street.

    Cheers,

There are many great instrumentals in the "Shaft" soundtracks
such as "Do your thing", "Cafe Regio", "No name bar" etc. etc.

Actually every track is good and the whole concept behind the
album is unique and rare. There is no other album similar to it
    and just as good.

I got most of his albums except some which I've only listened to
the radio and I've no idea which album it came from.
In particular, I heard an instrumental track named "chocolate chip"
which is similar to "do your thing" type and is very interesting.

I'm locating the album which this track come from. can anyone help ?

If I remember correctly Isaac Hayes had an album titled "Chocolate
Chip". I think we have it if you want further info.

    RE: topic title

Could we get the poor guy's name corrected in the topic title?
    It should read "Isaac Hayes".

    Thanks,
