446.0. "Top Country Dance Songs" by EMDS::DOWSE () Wed Jun 30 1993 22:12

I'm a mobile Disc Jockey who is looking for some help with
some country western songs. Although I live in central MA,
once a year I do a gig in Presque Isle Maine. It's just under
Caribou. I usualy do weddings and private parties of all kinds
so I do have all types of music including country western but
this one crowd likes nothing but country. Soooooo I'ld like
some help from all the country western fans in this notes files
to list there favorite country songs. Now remember, these are
songs to dance to, so give me someting with a heart beat. They
can be old or new. I'll use these lists to help me seek out
good songs I have over looked and add them to my playlist.

I appreciate any and all help. I'll start by listing my favorite
country dance songs: (in no particular order)

    1. Boot Scootin' Boogie - Brooks & Dunn
    2. If the Devil Could Dance in Empty Pockets
    3. Dance, Dance, Dance, - Steve Miller Band (country beat)
    4. Keep Your Hands to Your Self
    5. Little Sister - Yokam
    6. Catahoochee (SP?) - Yokam
    7. Rocky Top
    8. All My Rowdy Friends are Coming Over Tonight - Hank Jr.
    9. Wiskey River - Willie
10.Gimme Three Steps - Lynard Skynard

    Thanks in advance, Jim

    Re: 446.1

Tom, you caught that hu? I noticed it just as I hit the key to enter
the note. Your absolutly right, Chattahochee is by Alan Jackson. I was
    hoping no one would notice :}

Thanks for the list. I only mentioned a few but I like MANY. Another
one I thought of I like alot is Right Now by Mary Chapin Carpenter and
also Low Down Blues by Hank Jr.

There are alot of good old ones as well and I've also been collecting
alot of slow romantic country songs to give the ladies a chance to
dance with their dates. I find alot of Ladies dance with the other
Ladies to the country songs and the guys wait for the slow ones. This
isn't always the case but it seams to happen more times than not.

    Cheers, Jim Dowse

Thanks for all the help. The lists have a few in there that I've
forgotten about for awhile. I heard another one that is new from
Joe Diffie (SP?) "Prop me up against the jukebox when I die".
This was a realy good tune. I think it's off his new CD. I'ld never
heard it before. I caught the video of the song last night. It's
pretty funny. A kinda Weekend at Bernie's part 3.
