363.0. "Hoodoo Gurus ! !" by NEMAIL::CARROLLJ (The Bright-Eyed Boy) Wed Feb 03 1993 20:41

    Just noticed that there's no Hoodoo note!

    there must be some fans out there . . .

    song you may have heard if you haven't heard of the group . . .

    Lyrics are often intelligent and usually very funny - not sure but I
    think they're an Aussie band. Good, fun rock-n-roll!

I haven't heard them but I could swear I read that they are actually REM
minus Michael Stipe. If so, not Aussie, of course.

    I believe you are think of "Hindu Love Gods". (Hope I got the name right!)
    An honest mistake. I think Warren Zevon may have been with this band as
    well.

Yes, the "Hindu Love Gods" were indeed REM - Michael Stipe + Warren Zevon.
Just a one album project as far as I know.

    The Hoodoo Gurus are an Aussie band and have been doing the pub circuit
    for years. They've also had some successful US tours. Very much a
    cult band, but you have to love an album called 'Mars needs Guitars'.

    There has been more than one offering by the Hindu Love Gods.
    Definitely 2 but each time the roster changes with the exception
    of warren.
