304.0. "Burton Cummins" by GLDOA::JAGODKA (Number 1 Red Wings fan!) Tue Oct 06 1992 17:22

Any fans of Burton Cummins, former lead singer of the Guess Who, out
there? He has an excellent voice, and can sing anything from a ballad
to rock and roll! He recently toured with Ringo Starr and his All
Starr Band, and was supposed to be finishing his latest album for
release this year. Does anyone know about this album/release date?
Or, if he will be touring at all?

I've seen him several times in the last 10 years - he is always very
good live. It's hard to find his solo work here in the states - even
here in Michigan. He's much better known in Canada, especially since
he went solo back in about '76. The last album he put out that I know
    of is called "Plus Signs."

    Thanks,

    Tom

    OK, I'm a dork - I love the Guess Who !

I saw Ringo and the boys here in Colorado this summer, and it was
great to hear Burton sing 'No Time Left For You' and 'American Woman'
being backed by Joe Walsh, Dave Edmunds, Nils Lofgren, Timothy B.
    Schmitt and Zak Starkey !

I just rented a Laserdisc of the Guess Who's reunion concert a few
years ago in Toronto - excellent !

BTW - is it Cummins (like the diesel) or Cummings ?

Yeah, it's Cummings - I left off the G before!

He used to play in Detroit quite often since its next to Canada. Saw
him once with Randy Bachman - they did a lot of old Guess Who, some BTO
songs and Cummings solo stuff. It was a great show at Harpo's - a
    converted movie theatre/concert hall.
