301.0. "The Fools" by EMMFG::LAYTON () Thu Oct 01 1992 11:30

    What?  No Fools note!!??

    My wife and I and a bunch of her co-school bus driver buddies and S/O's
    went on a harbor cruise and saw this incredible(y tacky) bar/party
    local band.

    Had a blast! They did all their favorites, "Life Sux and then You
    Die", "Big", "Sports & Beer", "I ---- Pigs", plus covers of some
    sixties party songs, like "Eat It" (or is that "Bite It"), and "Doo Wah
    Diddy Diddy Dum Diddy Doo".

    I know, it sounds awful, but these guys have been doin' it since the
    sixties, and just have a great time.

    I, too was surprised to see no mention of the Fools in the conference.
    I caught them for the first time a couple of weeks ago and loved the
    show. The name of the band fits their show quite well. I was
    impressed with the musicianship as well as their show. I bought a
    cassette at the show and the songs are quite good. Strong vocals and
    harmonies. Strong sound for only three pieces.

    The fools will be playing at the Kiss 108 festival this weekend
    (sunday). Things are supposed to start at about 11:45. Are the
    Fools still their own opening act?

    They did their own opening act a couple of weeks ago in Maynard. They
    came out as a hillbilly band...I don't remember what they called
    themselves.

301.8STOOLS & FOOLSSUBSYS::GODINFri Mar 12 1993 11:034
    I heard they had a spinoff/opening band called the Stools (Go Guido). I
    saw the Fools a few times in the late '70's & they were great. Do they
    still have all the original people ? I think they were a 5-piece back
    then.

    As of last summer they were bass, guitar, drums, and lead singer Mike.
    They used to have a phone number (to the Fool's Mansion) with a taped
    message of upcoming gigs. No, I don't have the number... :-( :-(
