173.0. "Marillion" by UTRTSC::BOSMAN (Market square hero's) Thu Mar 19 1992 09:58

No topic reserved for Marillion? How comes? So I will give it a try.

Loved their music since 'Kayleigh' and still find it a loss that Fish
left the band. I listen to them almost every night and car-ride.

Because I live in The Netherlands, news is always delayed. Hope this
topic wil be well visited. Come on you market square hero's !

    Welcome you freaks.

I do have the Fish-less material, but it isn't as good as the ol'
stuff. Problem is that I don't not really like the new sanger. Not that
I know him but, since Steve (that's his name) Marillion went another
way. The more popular one. Find a style that the people like an go one
with it. I suspected U2 a few years ago doing the same (Achtung baby is
the first one I bought in years).

Last night I listend to 'Clutching at straws'. Still makes me feeling
    ... (undescribeable).

    >>I do have the Fish-less material,

Forgive my cheek but owing to the real name of the rather large
Scotsman, one might also say that Marillion are Dick-less.

    barry.

p.s. Actually I caught this mob a couple of times with the Big Man
singing. One of them was on the occasion they signed for EMI and
played their last "Grendl" for what many Marillion fans' considered
a lifetime. Not long enough if you ask me. :^)

Barry, sorry for being improper. I hope you know what I mean.

I never was on a concert where they play Grendel, although I do have a
video ... (that isn't really real isn't it?).

Just like Grendel, I didn't have seen them play Margaret. What I pitty.
And worse, there won't be another chance. Snif.

173.6Like 'em all ways...STAR::WALLFri Mar 20 1992 12:4917

Well, I've seen them three times. Once after Childhood's End was
released (with Fish) and twice after Seasons End was released (with the
    new guy).

And I admit, they aren't the same band, but for me that doesn't mean
necessarily bad things. The focus of the written material is slightly
different, slightly less personal, I think, but I contend that Steve
can sing their older stuff as well as Fish could. It sounds a little
different, true, but I liked it all the same.

I haven't picked up the very latest album, nor do I have any of Fish's
solo stuff yet, but I'm looking forward to acquiring and listening to
    both quite happily.

Could someone who has the solo Fish album(s) please post the label and
number? I have been looking for months and have not found any Fish
    solo material anywhere.

Also could someone be so kind as to provide a complete list of all of
the Marillion CDs, I want to make sure that I have them all.

    Thanks in advance,

Unfortunately, this is only available as an import - I saw it at a
record show a couple of weeks ago, but I understand it is to be
released in May/June in the US so I thought I would wait.

I'll post the information (if no one else does) about Vigil...Mirrors
tonight from my copy which I bought in London. Hopefully, when IE is
released here, Vigil will be, too.

Yeah. There is something after that! A double CD with acoustic sessions
of Steve covering old Marillion songs, even Kayleigh. (spit - spit).

In the interview I heard even Steve have to admit that the original
version of Kayleigh is the best. That's why it is in the top 5 in every
years top 100 here in Holland.

WBOS 92.9 FM in Boston a couple of plays from Holidays in Eden...funny,
they refer to it as a song by a "new" group, Marillion!

173.29Life Fish???ELIS::SCHUURMANSLife Sucks, And Then You Die!!Tue Nov 09 1993 06:3014
    Well,

If you're talking about the CD's I think you are, there are 5 double
CD's of live concerts of Fish. Some titles include (of the top of my
head) "Never mind the bullocks" and "For whom the bell tolls"

There are a lot of tracks which are on several CD's, so you just
choose the CD with your favorite tracks. As I said, there are 5 double
    CD's.

The quality differs from CD to CD. It is not top quality, but its
    enough to listen to.
