The streets in this are run in alphabetic order that is from Arlington

21.7What did the Hard Rock used to be??PARITY::LAUERBoethia Uper AllelonFri Jan 31 1992 18:4416
Your neighbor is coming south on 95. Get onto the Mass Pike heading east.
Get off the Pike at the "Copley Square - Pru Tower" exit. Stay to the
right - the exit will fork into "Pru Tower" to the left and "Copley Square"
to the right. You want to head towards Copley Square. As you pop out of
the exit ramp Copley Place will be on your right. You are on Huntington
Avenue. Stay to the right. The first traffic light intersection by Copley
Place's main entrance is Dartmouth Street. The next intersection (with
the Hancock on your left) is Clarendon Street. Turn right onto Clarendon.
The Hard Rock is on the left.

Street parking is rare in Back Bay. He might use the Copley Place Garage
(on the right just as you pop out of the exit ramp) and one can cut through
the mall and save some weather. I don't know if the Hard Rock has a garage
    or lot.

Nightstage is on Main Street in Cambridge, just a stone's throw from
Central Square. Getting there depends on which way you come from...

From the Mass Pike, get off at the Allston/Cambridge exit, and bear right
for Cambridge. Straight across the River Street Bridge, straight down
River Street to Mass Ave. (Central Square) Right on Mass Ave, in a few blocks
there's a fork to the left (and a Shell station in the middle of the fork).
Take that fork to your left and you're on Main. Nightstage is a block or two
down Main on your left.

From downtown Beantown or the Expressway, I'd suggest taking the Storrow Drive
to the Longfellow Bridge, across the bridge to Cambridge, taking you on
Broadway. Pass the Mariott and Cambridge Center (which will be on your left),
take the first left after the buildings, then a right on to Main. Nightstage
is on your right, several blocks down but well-marked enough that it's hard
to miss.

Parking? I think there's some but I'm not sure... I always walked there
myself...

Cambridge Street, at Haymarket T station, some where below the
parking garage that was once known to have serious structural

We (the Diversions) played there in March for the 2nd time. Better plan on
bringing some equipment, because the so-called "House PA" system is pretty
much dead. 1st time there was a Music Man 2-12 cab for one of the monitors,
now it's the LEFT-SIDE PA COLUMN! Also, they are down to 2 mike stands, one
is pretty much 90% duct tape. The board is a 6-channel, I believe (and they
are lacking in mike cords).

Cool place though, the owners are nice and the people that showed were
'bouncing' at the bar. Being from Worcester, we didn't bring folks up there
and we didn't draw too many either (could be us, could be the lack of Maine
exposure).

Good luck Brian!

PS - How's that 6-channel Shrue mixer holdin' out?! Geeze, to think I had the
living Music-Encyclopedia at my house and didn't know it 'till later 8^).

    From the western suburbs:

Take Route 2 east (from 128) to the first "rotary" at Alewife.
Go left here onto Route 16 -- Alewife Brook Parkway.
Go to the second genuine traffic light, at Broadway in Somerville.
(Mass. Ave. is the first light, followed by a flashing light
at the pedestrian crossing near the church. The Broadway
intersection is identifiable after you've missed it by the
Foodmaster supermarket, and liquor store, on the right.)
Go right on Broadway for maybe four lights, LESS THAN 1/2 MILE, until
you get to Teele Sq., which is identified by a sign to your
right in the triangle ahead of you.
Bear right here (forget the street name). Johnny D's is on the
left after nearly a mile, just before you reach Davis Sq.

    From the north:

	{3 to 128 ....}
Take Route 93 south to the Medford Sq. exit (Route 60).
Stay right around the rotary, following Route 60 west, you will
come to a large, confusing intersection where two lanes of
traffic bear left, and one lane can go right.
Bear left and move into the right hand lane so you can ...
Make a right at the flashing light to get on Route 16 west.
Follow Route 16 (no easy task, it makes a left turn at one point)
to the intersection with Broadway, in Somerville.
Make a left turn and follow the last instructions, above.

Good luck, and if you get lost, well, find a T station and follow
    the directions in .11.

21.34TT's (also Middle East) from Rte. 2RICKS::ROSTDan Quayle Memorial Spelling AwardTue Jul 21 1992 15:1815
Maybe not the fastest, but simplest: stay on Rte. 2, this becomes Mass.
Ave. eventually and TT's is right off this.

When you hit Central Square in Cambridge on Mass. Ave. (large four way
intersection a block past City Hall) you continue for another block or
two until you see Hi-Fi Pizza on you right. This is the corner of a
one way street emptying out onto Mass. Ave. That street (forget the
name) is where TT's is, about four doors down on the left.

FWIW, the Middle East is right next door.

If you continue down Mass. Ave. to where Main St. forks off to the
    left, you went too far.

The last time I was there it was called Club Casino and some years ago
but I remember it being a bit like the 'ole Paradise layout. It had
some tables, seats along bar, and places to stand. The stage was in
the middle of the wider wall which makes for easy viewing even if at
the rear center of the club but if you were off	to one side there
could be obstructive viewing. I don't recall anything about tickets
other than the usual, it's probably best to get hem in advance

I could be imagining it all, just the other day I mentioned to some

I'm considering going to a Stratton Mountain concert to see BB King in
sept. I'm wondering if anyone has gone to one of their (stratton) outdoor
shows and if so what are their impressions. I understand they have reserved
seating under the tent and general admin. for the lawn. The people that
I'm going with are leaning towards the lawn so they can do the picnic
thing, but I almost never do "General Admin".
I saw BB-King last year in Springfield, and the show was great!!! So
the act is not what I'm concerned about, its the layout of site. If
anyone has any input I would be very thankful.

21.44Directions to Casino Club, Hampton Beach NHDREGS::BLICKSTEINdbWed Aug 12 1992 14:3068
Re: Directions to Hampton Beach Casino Club

You didn't mention where you are coming from so I'll presume you know
    how to get to 95.

Also, although I go there all the time, I do it from memory and thus
I can't guarantee the accuracy of these directions.

Take 95 to the Route 51 Exit in NH. Follow the signs to Hampton Beach.

You'll drive across a sort of marshy area and then go into an area
    with lots of summer houses.

About 1/3 mile after you hit those houses you'll hit Ocean Blvd which
is the main drag of the beach. I think there's a Tower Pizza place
at the intersection with Ocean. At that point the road ends and thus
    you'll have to turn.

You make a right onto Ocean Blvd and after a 100 yards along the beach
and then your half/direction of the road sorta forks off and goes
behind the ocean front buildings. You'll go about 1/4 mile and
eventually see a distinctively large parking lot on your left and
a fire station on your right.

The building behind that parking lot is the Casino Club and that
parking lot is about as good a place as any to park. You might
save a few bucks by driving a bit further and looking for cheaper
    spaces.

There's usually a traffic mess after big concerts. One great way to
avoid the mess is kill a little time at "The Wave" which is a night
club with all kinds of stuff to do.

To get to the wave from the Casino.

Go across the parking lot and cross the street you came in on which
(I presume) is still called "Ocean Blvd".

There's a street corner there with the fire station on one side. Go
down that street, the Wave is about 300 yards on the right. Look for
a big sand volleyball court out front.

Dave's directions are correct. The name of the road that forks to the
right off Ocean Blvd is Ashworth Ave.

A better way to avoid traffic is to park in one of the municipal lots
in the area of Ocean Blvd and the intersection of Rt. 51. You'll have
about a 5 minute walk from the Casino, but you'll be parked at the
access road (51 West) back to I95.

Edible Rex is on Old Concord Road, Billerica, Mass. Take exit 27 off
Rt 3. Take a left at the end of the exit (regardless of whether you're
coming off Rt 3 Northbound or Southbound...both exits end up on the
same side of Concord Rd). Old Concord Road is the first right, less
than a quarter mile. It's unmarked and easy to miss. Edible Rex

i think Raffles is a club right off of RT2 at the South Street/Merriam
Ave exit in Leominster. If i have the right place in mind, you take
a left at the first stop sign you encounter the at end of exit, and
it is right there on the left!

however, my own knowledge of this comes from an eighteen yearold
daughter who may have spinning her own tale for all i know, and there
does seem to be some evidence of 60's wreckage in my brain so judge
accordingly. As for the band, can't answer..

Just two words of advice - DON'T GO!

I went there to see Rage Against The Machine after the Channel was closed
and the show hastily rescheduled at this place. It's general admission,
there are no seats of any kind. It also has to be the *worst* sounding
show that I have *ever* seen, and I do mean WORST!

The place has the acoustics of a gymnasium, except not as good. I couldn't
understand a word the singer said, and sometimes it was tough to even know
what song they were playing (and I knew every song by heart, and had seen the
band before). And that was when I was standing at the soundboard! I ended up
watching the rest show from besides the stage - the monitors sounded better
than out front, and at least I wasn't going deaf (it was very loud in there
as well, as the sound just kept bouncing around the room).

It's on Landsdowne Street, right next to Fenway Park (directly across the
street from the Green Monster). If you still need directions, let me know
and I'll post them.

There are no seats at Avalon, just one big floor where everyone stands.
Depending upon your stamina, you can either fight your way towards the
front for a close-up view; or stay towards the back and get a pretty decent
straight-on view from the elevated levels back there.

I'm looking for directions to Great Woods. I did a directory on this
this note and then a search and nothing came up.

I have a general idea how to get there, but would appreciate specifics
and any hints about parking and getting out of there when the concert's
over. I understand traffic can be a little, uh, slow getting out of
    Great Woods.

    Thanks,

It might be best to point out Exits 11 and 12 are at the same off ramp and you
bear right to get exit 12, and stay left going parallel to the highway to use
exit 11...

    RE: previous

I had the pleasure of seeing Killer Queen when Metropolis (db et al)
opened for them. I normally have little or no use for tribute bands
(despite what my next entry here says... really :-), but these guys
were very good. I was particularly struck by the accuracy of the guitar
sounds... doing a decent Brian May is no small feat. And the singer did
a passable Freddy Mercury too. If you like Queen, I think these guys
    are worth seeing.

Also, Big Dawg... they're a cool R&B/Motown cover band. I've snagged
their keyboard player (Mike Mischitelli) for my new musical project,
but he's still playing with Big Dawg until the end of the year...

    Lance,

They're playing October 31st (yes, the night we scheduled a metropolis
audition) at the Iron Horse in Northhampton, MA.

That's the best club I've ever been to, by far.

I'm going (i.e. I forgot about that when I scheduled the audition).

    	db

p.s. The Dregs are there in early december too.

The Portsmouth Music Hall is very good acoustically and there's really
not a bad seat in the house as far as sight lines are concerned. It's
a small (<1500 seats) venue and the balcony seats give the illusion of
being right on top of the stage.

Take I-95 North to NH exit 7 (Market Stree exit). Take a right at the
light at the end of the ramp. Proceed about 1.5 miles and proceed through
Market Square bearing right onto Congress St. Take your first right
into the city parking garage ($.25 per hour).

The Music Hall is on Fleet St, about 1 block from the garage...ask
    anyone on the street.

    Mark.
