Maynard area rock band (Big Me) looking for a bassist. Focus is on
originals. They've been together about a year. Playing Edible Rex
regularly, played WCGY's Boston Music Showcase, Chapter II (formerly
Escape) and a couple of other local clubs. Won the Maynard H.S. Battle
in March. Band style is....different. Rock with a satirical edge.

11.9Bass and Sax/Flute wanted for ONCE ON THIS ISLAND showTAMARA::EMMONDTue Dec 15 1992 16:3822
I'm looking for a bass player and a soprano sax & flute player to perform
in ONCE ON THIS ISLAND for a community production in Amherst NH (near Nashua)
on April 16th, 17th and 18th.

ONCE ON THIS ISLAND is a recent Tony award-winning Broadway show. (I think
it just finished its run about a year ago.) Set on a carribean island,
it's a story about a peasant girl who falls for a rich boy, etc... The
music is beautiful, fun, and interesting -- often in an islandy/calypso style.
It is scored for 2 keyboards, sax/flute, guitar, bass and percussion.

ONCE ON THIS ISLAND is this year's show for the annual fund raiser put on
by the Amherst PTA. Talented people from Amherst and surrounding communities
crawl out of the woodwork and donate their time for a fun, yet well-done,
production. This year's show will be performed in the new auditorium at the
new Souhegan High School.

Professional guitarist/vocalist w/ complete PA system, MIDI studio,

    musical situations:

    	1) Male or female partner(s) for MIDI duo or trio. I've been
gigging steadily in this situation for the past year and
have a fairly extensive sequence library of songs with complete

I'm looking for a drummer and a bass player who's willing to work
with me on my originals.
I've gotten VERY GOOD audience feedback everywhere that I've played
out. So, I've decided to add some color to my music. ( drums + bass )
Do some rehearsing, get the material recorded in a local studio. And
who knows, maybe some gigs. I also, plan to push to get it on the radio.

My style falls somewhere between soft-rock/folk and hard-rock.
So I'm in the middle somewhere !

      I live in Derry NH.

If interested, just blast me a vaxmail. Thanx.

Sky Blues, a band out of Boston is looking for a drummer. Our current
drummer lives in Keene N.H. and feels he can't make the trips anymore.
We play out about once or twice a month mostly in the Boston area with
potentially some NH gigs as well. We're hoping to expand.

We now practice in Derry N.H. but may soon change to Boston. We do
about 1/3 original and 2/3 covers ranging from Blues to Talking Heads
    and a lot in between.

The four of us have played together off and on for about 12 years. In
the early 80's we were a full time band playing all over New England as
"Nick Adventure", but we all have real jobs now. :>

    I'm a guitarist/vocalist with 15yrs. professional experience (I'm 30)
that has been involved in a MIDI duo situation for the last 5 years.
Sequencing songs has becoming very tiresome, and I'm in need of a
change. I have excellent equipment (complete PA, 8-track recording,
etc.) and play electric and acoustic guitar...could play bass also if
necessary. I would only consider leaving my current situation, however,
for a band that is earning decent money, and is gigging regularly
    (though not necessarily every weekend).

Note 8.28 Musicians Wanted 28 of 28
REFINE::WEBER                                        43 lines   3-SEP-1993 14:09
-< Bass and Drummer and others needed to play jazz! >-
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Jazz Artist Group is a musical group that has the following vision:

   - Make music
   - Play in a forum open to original (sometimes unique) compositions
   - Play improvisational music
   - Play some gigs
   - Have fun!

The goal is to have 8-10 players; this is a good size because it is
flexible enough for improvisation, yet, there are enough instruments
   to do some unique arrangements.

So far, we have been mainly playing tunes out the Real Book and Jamey
Aebersold. In addition, we would like to do some tunes written by
members of the band (we have played a couple tunes that I wrote).

Up until this week, we were a septet: trumpet, tenor, alto, trombone,
guitar, bass and drums. However, our drummer and bass player recently
   resigned due to family matters.

So, we are in search of a drummer and a bass player. For a bass player
it is helpful to either be familiar with the jazz idiom or be able to
read changes. For the drummer, it would be helpful if you are familiar
with jazz (not really any music reading). However, all that we really
require is that you have a genuine interest in playing the music.

We would also like to add a piano, a low brass player (bone or tuba),
an upper brass player (trumpet or french horn), and perhaps >ANY< other
miscellaneous instrument (any bassoon players out there interested?).
Again, we're looking for someone interested in playing the music!

One other thought... We are the Jazz Artist Group. If you are a jazz
composer and would like to share some of your music with this group,
   let me know.

We rehearse in Nashua, NH, so if you live in Atlanta, I think it might be
   too far to commute :-).

If you are interested, send me mail at REFINE::WEBER.

Hope to hear from you!
Adam

We practice every Wednesday at 7:00 in the PKO3 plant in Maynard, and
we play gigs every now and then (for DEC events, charities, whatever).
This is an informal group with a wide range of abilities, from former
pros to real hackers. We play music we like, mostly big band music
from the 50's and 60's, so we can have a good time. The band is run
    as sort of semi-organized anarchy.

If you haven't played in a while, that's fine. Just dust off the horn,
and send mail to the director, John Kaufmann at AKOCOA::Kaufmann, or

The Swanky Moes seek a veteran bass player experienced in
various blues and r&b forms. We gig 5-10 times/month in the eastern
Mass and southern New Hampshire area. We play a tightly arranged
style of blues, r&b, and a scattering of other stuff and are composed
of guitar, bass, drums, hammond organ, and sax with two lead
vocalists.

This is a fun band that works regularly and we don't believe
that music and stress mix. Everybody is very experienced, has a
professional attitude and conflict is virtually non-existant. We have
enough work to keep us tight and usually rehearse only to learn new
material. Rehearsal frequency averages about once a month and never
more than once a week. We all have day jobs we plan to keep.

The player we're looking for is well seasoned, feels
comfortable with a variety of blues and R&B styles, and has his/her
own gear and transportation. Vocal ability is always a plus, but not
neccesary. This person should be serious about the quality of their
playing and have the desire to excel, but enjoyment is also a priority
in this band. We aren't trying to "make it" and if you are you'd probably
do better elsewhere.

If you or anyone you know is interested please get in touch.

11.59Gigging OpportunitiesGROOVE::DADDIECOThat's Just The Way It Is .....Tue Nov 16 1993 16:2938
There seems to be a growing abundance of gigging opportunities in the New
Country Music circuit. I frequently meet musicians that are in search of
members for their bands and with the exception of one or two musician friends,
that I know of, who are looking for gigs, I really don't have as many names
and numbers of folks that might be actively seeking a gig.

So, what to do?

If you want, I'd be more than happy to take your name, address and phone
number and pass it along to prospecting bands. The rest will, of course, be
up to you.

So many gigs - so little time!

Here's three opportunities that came my way just this last weekend:

New Country Group forming in Westford, MA - looking for a bass player
to round out the lineup. They got a steady gig at a club in Dracut as
the house band every Sunday. The guitar player is the club manager.
	How convenient!

New Country Group - Ivy Kat - needs a bass player. Lead
vocalist/keyboardist is a bigwig in the MCMAA. So getting gigs is
	not a problem.

New Country Group - Dani Balsam Band - needs a drummer and bass
player. This woman has a fabulous voice and is very very enjoyable
	to work with.

There's more - but this might give you some food for thought.

So if you're interested in having your name dropped when these
opportunities pop up, just drop me your name, address and phone
	number.

	Thanx .... Dan

	Keyboard Player Wanted
	----------------------

Our band is looking for a new keyboard player. Vocal ability is
a plus but not require. We do a mix of classic rock, blues and R&B.
We normally practice one night per week, and we're looking to
gig one or two times per month. We have a PA for vocals and practice
space at my house in Marlboro (no rent).

Our current line-up is:

	Rhythm Guitar/Vocalist
	Lead Guitar/Vocalist
	Bass
	Drums

We are all involved in this musical project more for enjoyment
than money, and we are not trying to 'make it' as pro musicians,
but we are also committed to putting in the effort to develop a
very good, tight sound.

If you are interested or know of some one who may be interested
please, I will give you more details about the band. You should
have your own equipment and transportation.

Looking for a bass player for that world tour you've scheduled?
Ever wonder what you'd sound like with a bass backup?
Did your present bassist get lost on the way to the men's room?

    Give me a call!

I'm always looking for people to play with. I've played rock, folk,
blues, country, cocktail jazz and several styles I can't describe.
In other words, I'm flexible. I mostly play electric, but could dust
off my double bass in a pinch. I live in Salem, NH, USA, and have
equipment, wheels, a (very) small PA and a good attitude. I'm not
really looking for a band that will gig regularly, more for a regular
    jam or occasional gig.

Or put me on your band's mailing list (North American bands only,
please). I may come to one of your gigs.

Or, just tuck my name away for future reference. You never know when
    you'll need those low frequencies.

11.85Guitarist and/or bassist wantedADROID::fosterMistakes excludedSun Sep 25 1994 13:1834
Looking for a guitarist or bassist to reform our band that just lost
the drummer (that sounds weird, but I have some possibilities there
already). We may lose the guitarist, for he may not be able to commit to
a rental agreement 8^(. After having said that, one of our goals is to
have the band pay for itself by working. Vocals are not mandatory, but
if you have a decent voice nobody's going to hold you back!

We are 98% original and are working to be a semi-alternative band (in
a melodic sense, not that slamming/noisey type stuff). We have just
finished six songs at a 16-track studio in Providence RI, and plan to
target that area initially for gigs and record there again. We are
prone to playing anywhere/everywhere we can.

The basic arrangement would be 3 or 4 piece with our singer playing
some keys here and there (he plays a Roland Axis, that guitar-shaped
thing that has weird black&white levers on it %^). The best location for
rehearsals is central MA, say Worcester, as we live south and west of
this city. This is a workable issue tho.

I'm leaving out style on purpose, for I'm not sure how to classify the
latest stuff. But, whoever we hook up with will make it different anyway.
Basically, we have some ideas and the group makes it happen. Our goals
are to have FUN and be focused, playing consistently even when a fellow
band-mate body-slams you because you were staring at the ceiling for too
long (we like to mix it up a bit and keep it moving %^).

I'll be off the Digital network next week, please use my home number
below after October 1st. Feel free to pass this on to anyone who might
be interested (musically, that is, no more food-service references %^).

that now would be a good time to get around to announcing my

I've been around the traditional fiddle-type circuits of Celtic,

styles(2 heros are Sugarcane Harris and Joe Venuti). I double on

11.95Keyboardist NeededGRILLA::KELLEYWed Feb 15 1995 19:1747
KEYBOARDIST/SINGER WANTED FOR ROCK/CLASSIC ROCK/R&B BAND.

We're getting back together after a couple of years vacation...

We're looking for a talented keyboard player with a willingness to
commit to a team project with long term goals of continually evolving
and improving our sound. Vocal ability, either lead or backup would
be a valued asset. Good equipment and reliability are important.

Rehearsals are typically once a week in Westford, MA. Gigs will all
be local to Westford, within about an hour's drive.

We have a unique sound that gets positive audience response whenever
we play clubs, functions or parties. The songlist has included
songs by Linda Ronstadt, Melissa Etheridge, Heart, Pat Benetar,
Fleetwood Mac, Whitney Houston, Natalie Cole, Pretenders, Steve
Winwood, Robert Palmer, Beatles, Rascals, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bob Seger,
Dire Straits, Savoy Brown, Stones, Grateful Dead, Talking Heads,
James Brown, Eddie Floyd, Blues Bros, Temptations, Isley Bros, Eagles,
Chuck Berry and others. We intend to try a variety of these old songs
and add new ones as well.

The goal of this band is to play some good music and have fun. We
plan to work gigs once or twice a month. We'll play clubs, parties,
picnics, and other functions if the gig fits the band.

We don't have the rock star "look" and don't care if you do
or not. We are all 30+.

The current lineup includes:

Female Lead Vocalist/Front person (Wait 'til you hear her!!!)
Male lead vocalist/lead and rhythm guitarist
        lead guitarist/backing and lead vocals
        bassist/backing vocals
        drummer

If you'd be interested in seeing if we could achieve a mutual 'fit'
for both you and our band, or if you know someone who might be, please
contact Bob at:

	Versatile Keyboard player wanted
	================================
Startup Rock band consisting of 2 guitars, bass, and drums seeking
keyboard player to complete the lineup.

This is to be a fun band playing tunes we want to play that will
also let the audience have a great time! Just about any type of
music is up for grabs as long it's fun to play and party to. The
age range is on the youthful side of the 40's so feel free to
assume what types of music we're not into.

We're looking to be groove oriented band with a lot of dynamics
and interplay. We listen to and play off each other so you
should be the type who will let a 4 minute song go 10 minutes
	if that's what feels right.

Strict covers will be rare. Anything past the signature riff
is open game. Over time, "our style" will come out.

You should be all set in the equipment department and it would
be a major plus if you also sing. Practices (Chelmsford) have
been once a week and we'd like to be gig ready by Memorial Day.
We'd like to play out one or two weekends a month.

There are lots of laughs when we get together and that's the
attitude we'd like to take to the stage.

So, if you're that person - reply to me at Piet::DesRochers.
If you know someone, feel free to forward this on or let me
know how to get in touch. We want to find someone now!!

	Thanks - Tom
