		THE BLUES NEWSletter

This has been a busy few months for us, but GOOD THINGS have been
happening for THE CHARLIE DEE BLUES BAND! Since opening several times for
Grammy Award winner LUTHER "Guitar Junior" JOHNSON (Former guitarist for Muddy
Waters, the Blues Brothers, etc...) we've done several LIVE Radio broadcasts,
scored a spot hosting our own Sunday night blues jam in a real "Up and coming
club" (CR Goodys in Fitchburg,MA,) we've recorded the makings of our first
official release (FINALLY!) and have been invited to play at such places as
Cambridge's "House of Blues", & Worcester's "Plantation Club" as well as a spot
at "Harper's Ferry"'s annual blues extravaganza!
Whew, it's been quite a journey! And we're still having a lot of fun.
The blues jam ran extended from mid Feb till now. That engagement has attracted
lots of GREAT players who we've enjoyed having play with us. Eric "Two-Scoops
Moore (Keyboardist with LUTHER "Guitar Junior" JOHNSON) has been doing
semi-regular appearances with at at our Blues Jam as well as many other special
shows...

Several songs featured from our recent radio broadcast on WBRS have
been getting Radio Airplay on college radio stations around the New England
area and in other areas of the country
We've gathered a real following by being seen and heard in some key
places, along with all our regular shows...we've been averaging 3 shows/week,
but have done some 4 & 5 show weeks too! (What a pace! But we're playing
better than ever! What doesn't kill us makes us stronger!)
This past week we went into the studio for a marathon recording
session and recorded 13 songs onto the tape master. The best of these
are slated for a planned release on cassette tape (and possibly CD) which
we will make available at shows.
The release is affectionately being called "Blues from the Shoe
Factory" due to the studio location (in a turn of the century mill building
that once housed a Shoe mfg facility.) It will contain a mix of original
material from the band, along with the non-standard blues covers which are
found in our regular shows.

We're planning on making a professional video recording of this show, along
with allowing videocamera recording...so come on down

For those who don't know, our lineup is:

Charlie Dee : Lead guitar, slide guitar "extraordinaire",
 vocals
Tom T. (yours truly): Guitar and slide guitar, vocals
Richard "Birdman" Burdell: fretless/fretted Bass thumping, and "Say
What?'s"...
"Cadillac" Steve Paul - Drums, vibes (and various other purcussion
thingys!) and "Say What?'s"...
"Hurricane" Bob Snyder - Harmonica, vocals, (Say
What?'s"...and various other percussion implements of destruction)

Charlie (with his trusty Gibson Firebird, among other axes...) pays
tribute to the likes of Johnny Winter, Albert Collins, BB King, Muddy Waters,
and Stevie Ray Vaughan...
I get to work out a bit during tunes by the likes of John Mayall's
Bluesbreakers, Albert King, Freddie King, John Lee Hooker, Willie Mabon,
William Clarke and Ronnie Earl...along with MANY original tunes...

A bunch of people have asked to be put on a mailing list so they can
find out about upcoming gigs, etc...
If you're on the list...you got this via e-mail...if you want to be on
the list or know someone who wants to be...drop me e-mail or ask to be put on
it at our next gig.

I often see familiar faces from the workplace or hear later on from
folks who saw the show who DIDN'T come over to say hi, and though we can't
always get to say hi to everyone during the breaks (we're sometimes busy with
show details...but we TRY), we're always VERY glad to see you there anyway!
(Folks, PLEASE come and say "Hi" to us...DON'T BE SHY! We don't bite! Your
comments about our shows are valuable to us!!!)

I hope to see you at our next gig, and maybe chat a while.

    Tom T.

Raymond, NH will once again rock as the db wilfred band makes its
second appearance at the fabulous entertainment complex known as
PK II's Restaurant & Pub (whose motto is "Burgers R Us") this
    Saturday, May 21.

PK II's technically qualifies as an "entertainment complex" because
it offers not only a restaurant, bar, and dance floor; not only pool
tables and video game machines; but also the best darn car wash in
    Raymond!

We'll be on stage from 8:30 to 12:30. Yes, there is a dance floor.

We just came off the first leg of our Spring Tour with a
standing-room-only performance at the First Annual Wilton Art & Film
Festival where we had the whole town literally dancing in the streets.
It was so successful that we've already been invited back for next year's

This is the last message you'll probably see from me regarding See No Evil,
as I've been TFSO'ed, and this is my last week here at Digital. Many thanks
to all of you who have supported the band over the past three years - we
couldn't have surived and thrived without your help!!!

There are still two band members here at Digital, guitarist Dave Ickes
(KELVIN::ICKES) and bassist Dave Nelson (SALEM::NELSON_D), so I imagine that
these messages will still be posted/mailed..... just not by me. 8^)

Don't forget that the High Hopes Balloon Festival is this coming weekend!
This is a wonderful event which benefits seriously and terminally ill children
in New Hampshire. And while helping others, you get to hear some great music!
Lost & Found, one of NH's best bands, starts the day at noontime. See No Evil
is on at 1:30pm. Then don't miss DEC's own Biggs Band, a *hot* 10-piece

		THE BLUES NEWSletter
Well, the time has come for us to announce another change in lineup...
Bassist (and Founding Member) Richard "Birdman" Burdell is moving into the
wonderful world of home ownership/marital bliss and so will be quite busy with
wedding plans and "Home Improvement"... We wish him and his fiancee the best of
luck.
Stepping in to fill out the bottom end is Don Babineau, a familiar face
to some of you who came to the Sunday Jams at CR Goody's...Don also filled in
for us for a short period while "Bird" was on vacation. We're VERY happy to
have him join the band...He's an energetic figure on the stage, and he's quite
capable of using his talents to add quite a lot to our music!

So, many of you are probably wondering, "How'd it go?" over at "The
House of Blues"?
	IT WAS GREAT!!
An hour before we were supposed to be going on stage they couldn't let
any more people in because we had already SOLD OUT THE SHOW!!! Wall to wall
people at "The House of Blues" to see THE CHARLIE DEE BLUES BAND on a Tuesday
night! We even had people who were on our guest list asking the door man to
have me come down and let them in because they could not let any more folks
in...but that was an OK problem to have...
The management was so impressed with our music, our promotion, and our
subsequent turnout, that they've scheduled us to headline again as soon as
both our schedules will allow...(on a BETTER night, QUITE a TRIUMPH for a local
band!) as well as possibly opening for some of the nationally known acts!
It looks like we'll be back some time in August...more on that as details
become available!
We were treated like royalty there by the staff...and the fans
were LOUDLY appreciative, dancing and grooving to the blues...cheering us on
through Charlie playing slide guitar with_everything_but_the_kitchen_sink
(from a beer bottle to "a chair"), and they were pretty much whipped into a
frenzy as Charlie, myself and special guest Bob Roy finished up the night with
a 3 guitar attack, each trading solos as we walked among the crowd!
A bunch of people have asked to be put on a mailing list so they can
find out about upcoming gigs, etc...
If you're on the electronic list...you got this via e-mail...HOWEVER,

a few weekends ago, it'll be good to get back INDOORS to an air conditioned
room and more intimate crowd up at The Best Western - Royal Plaza hotel (off Rt
2 & 31, Fitchburg, MA)

Be sure to say hi to our newest member, bassist Don Babineau, a
familiar face to some of you who came to the Sunday Jams at CR Goody's...We're
VERY happy to have him join the band...He's an energetic figure on the stage,
and he's quite capable of using his talents to add quite a lot to our music!

So, many of you have been asking "How'd it go?" over at "The House of
Blues" in Cambridge? IT WAS GREAT!!
The management was so impressed with our music, our promotion, and our
subsequent turnout, that they've scheduled us to headline again as soon as both
our schedules will allow...(some time in Sept and we also have a confirmed Dec
20th BLUES Christmas party! We're also in contact with the House of Blues in
New Orleans and are looking to confirm some headlining dates down there as
well...(It's in the works!) as well as possibly opening for some of the
nationally known acts!

Look for us to be playing at a venue near you...this summer we're on
the road going from Maine to Connecticut, as well as lots more shows closer to
home. In the works are shows such as:

Harper's Ferry's annual "Battle of the Blues Bands", Aug 25th

THE CHARLIE DEE BLUES BAND "Blues Cruise" around Boston Harbor (for sometime in
late Sept, advance ticket sales ONLY, cost will be around $12)

as well as a LOT of other scheduled shows...at old favorites like Abigail's in
Gardner,MA, Major's Pub's grand re-opening, and Donnelly's Pub, in Fitchburg,
MA, as well as some new places (for us)

That's all for now, more info to come so stay tuned for all the details
and be sure to bring a friend (or two) to the shows...

The db wilfred band is back at Nickels Restaurant in Merrimack, NH!

			Friday September 30
		              9:00 PM

Last time we played at Nickels, the management told us that they *never*
saw the dance floor more full. This time we want to break that record.
So come and help us out!

--> *the db wilfred band* <--

Fred Abatelli - guitar, bass guitar, vocals

              Heather O'Brien - vocals
              Willy Wiegler - drums, vocals

And, we'll be introducing the newest wilfred wannabee:

	      Dave Hickernell - bass guitar

Dave H will be joining us for part of the evening, giving the band that
big, fat, funky bottom-end kick as only he can do. Don't miss it.

We'll be playing our unique mix of rock, blues, R&B for your dining and
dancing pleasure. ;^)

		Nickel's Restaurant
		4 Continental Blvd
		Merrimack, NH
For more info call (603) 424-0888

Nickels has great food and a fun atmosphere. It's right off the
Everett Turnpike (Route 293) at exit 11 heading west (past Burger King).

Also, the db wilfred band has just booked a couple of nights at a new
venue:

Friday November 18 and Saturday Nov 19

        	Tiki Lau
	        Littleton Rd, Route 110
	        Westford, MA 01886
For more info call (508) 692-2355

The Tiki Lau is just up the road from LKG so we hope to see many of our
Massachussetts friends at this one.

This appearance at the Tiki Lau is unique because we will be part of a
double bill! The other band, Metropolis, features none other than
db wilfred keyboard player Dave Blickstein! What a busy guy.
Metropolis plays "progressive rock of the 70's, 80's and 90's."

Tentatively, the stage times at the Tiki Lau are as follows:

		Metropolis = 8:30-9:45
the db wilfred band = 10:15-12:30

	             9PM - 12:30AM

Hi, Friends. The HELP! Summer Tour '95 came to an end last week with
a standing-room-only concert at Hampton Beach. What a perfect close to
a wonderful season. We want to thank each of you who came to see a show
(or maybe two... or three!). we had a great time and hope you did, too.

Some of you were previously aware that Mike (McCartney) Rolla's wife,
Dawn, is expecting this fall. Well, with true Lennon/McCartney-style
rivalry, we're now delighted to tell you that Paul (Lennon) Lussier's
wife, Laurie, is expecting this winter -- twins!

This means the band will be taking an extended vacation. Between now and
the spring, we're planning only two shows, both at the Sit 'n Bull Pub in
Maynard, MA. The shows will be next week, on September 8th, and three
months later, on December 8th. These will be your only chances to see
us until the spring (and our only chances to see you), so come on down
and HELP! us make them special nights.

Until we resume a full performance schedule, we'll be busy in the
rehearsal studio, so expect a few changes for HELP! 1996. We've got
to give our three new little Beatlemaniacs a good start.

We hope to see you soon, but if not until next year, have a joyous
holiday season.

			Sincerely,

HELP! (Chris, Marc, Mike, and Paul)

guess he was quite impressed. I would just like to know if he is
legitimate. I would appreciate any help I can get regarding getting

we want to call attention to our country and tropical tastes, the group
