| By DMV I am guessing you mean the office where you get the plates
and/or stickers rather than the office on ELM Street where you get the
registration portion done.
3A Litchfield, past Shorty's Mexican Restaurant on the right, turns
into Brown Ave in Manchester, where there is an Evan's Mart on the
right, then KIRK's Restaurant and a Motel 6 or 8 or 9 or whatever,
then a McDonald's.
From here there are two main routes.
1. After all the above landmarks on Brown Ave, there are two quick
sets of lights, the first set is at the on-ramp to 293 towards
Boston/Portsmouth, then pass under the highway and the second set of
lights is a left onto 293 towards Manchester. Take this left, go over
the Merrimack River, bear RIGHT after the river. First exit is Exit 4
for Queen City Bridge, second exit is Exit 5 for Granite Street Bridge.
Take this exit. Turn RIGHT at the end of the exit, go over Merrimack
River. Go through one set of lights. At the second set of lights, turn
LEFT. You'll see the city bus terminal on your right as you turn LEFT
onto CANAL Street. Go down Canal Street through a few sets of lights
down to DOW Street. Turn RIGHT onto DOW Street and a quick left into
the GOLD'S GYM parking lot, the DMV is at the end of this building.
2. From Brown Ave, instead of turning onto 293, go straight. You'll
pass a large cemetery on the left. Eventually you come to a Stop sign.
Turn LEFT. About a block up turn RIGHT onto ELM Street (it may
actually be South Elm Street at this point). Go down Elm Street
through many sets of lights. You'll pass the Center Of New
Hampshire/Holiday Inn on your left. Then a tall, black building and
the somewhat new Nynex building on the left. Go up a little further
and pass by Bridge Street (Salty Dog Tavern is on your right). A few
more streets up and turn LEFT onto DOW Street. Go down Dow Street and
the Gold's Gym parking lot is near the bottom of the hill on your
right.
