Jonathan Patrick Blotcky was born on Wednesday, May 9, 1990 at 4:33
AM (8 lbs. 5oz., 20" long, blond hair and blue-grey eyes).

He will be 6 weeks old tomorrow, and last night, for the first time,
slept for 6 hours straight! He is very interested in everything going
on around him, and is a happy baby with a gorgeous smile. He's already
trying to turn over, and gets very frustrated when he can't do it.

His big brother Ben (who turns 5 in August) has been great, fetching
diapers for me, and singing lullabies to Jon when he frets.

His somewhat sleep-deprived parents (Pam & Steve) are doing pretty well
    too.

16.2Melissa Robinson SchoellerCLTMAX::dickSchoeller - Failed XperimentWed Jun 20 1990 16:1615
Melissa was born Friday, 1 June 1990, 15:05. She was 5 lbs. 0 oz., 18 inches.
This was right on target considering that she was born at 35 1/2 weeks.

Because of the supplemental feedings required in the Special Care Nursery at
Newton-Wellesley Hospital, we are having an interesting time switching her
from mixed feeding to all breast.

Considering that the books say to start counting developmental marks at
the due date (rather than birth date) for premies, she seems exceptionally
alert and coordinated to me (of course, I am biased 8^{).

One of these days we will hit a "regular" schedule and will have some idea
how much sleep to expect in a given night.

Andy was born on June 5,1990 at 4:33 am. He was 7 lbs, 3 oz, and 21
inches long (22 at 2weeks). He was 4 days early, thus defeating
our positive thoughts about him being late -- Dad twisted his
knee playing softball a few days before Andy was born. The nurses
were amused at the sight of laboring Mom pushing Dad around in his
borrowed wheelchair. He's one month old today!

16.6He's *OURS*!!!!!SCAACT::RESENDEJust an obsolete childMon Jul 30 1990 02:3634
Well, last Wednesday, July 25, we went to court and finalized Michael's
adoption. WHAT A FEELING! Pat's brother and sister-in-law came from North
Carolina for the big day, which meant a lot since we don't have any family
here in Texas to share the moment with us.

We were due in court at 9:00am, which meant driving into downtown Dallas at
rush hour, so we left the house at 7:30 and made it just about 15 minutes
early. Of course that meant Michael didn't get his nap, so he was right on
the edge of becoming fussy the whole time. The judge was late to make
matters worse, so we didn't actually get started till almost 9:30. Just
before we were called, Michael decided he was hungry, so Pat held him and
fed him a bottle during the proceedings. It was kinda funny when they
swore all of us in, 'cause Pat had to raise her right hand, which she was
using to hold on to Michael's bottle. But she managed, and the judge got a
good laugh out of it. He reached into a drawer, pulled out a diaper, and
said "Here, you might need this." Apparently the judge we got *loves* to
do adoptions; on the wall of his courtroom is a huge collage with pictures
of all the babies whose adoptions he has finalized.

Anyway, the whole procedure lasted about 10 minutes, and consisted of a
lawyer asking us some questions, and then the judge said the adoption was
final and the birth certificate would be changed and the state would mail
it to us. After it was over, we got some snapshots of the three of us with
the judge, and went to our favorite restaurant to celebrate over lunch.

I cannot describe the feeling of relief...not that we thought anything
would happen to screw up our adoption...but there's always that tiny little
nagging doubt in the back of your mind. You never forget that the agency
is still "managing conservator" and could take your baby back, even though
there's no reason they would actually do it. Well, he's been our son for
the entire six months of his life, but now he's LEGAL, and we're two of the
happiest people around!

Emily Nicole Myers was born Friday, Aug. 31, 1990. She weighed in at
7lb 8oz and measured 21 1/2" long. She has quite a set of lungs, but
is easily pacified. She likes to sleep during the day and keep Mom and
Dad up at night! She is our first so I will probably be looking in
this notesfile quite a bit for advice!

    Hi all,

Adam Michael Rene was born September 2nd, 1990 at 7:48 pm. He
is a little guy, tilting the scales at 3lbs 7oz. Yes, he is full-term.
My wife developed high blood pressure the last 3 weeks of her
pregnancy. Her Ob says that it affected the placenta. The little boy
was born without much body fat. He was fully developed, just not much
body fat. He had a little trouble with the eating principle, but he
    is catching on fast!
I've been reading this file for a year and it is grrrRRRREAT!
I look forward to sharing/learning with you all!

Michelle was born at 8:50 a.m. on June 26, 1990. She was 11 days early
so I only got to enjoy 1 prenatal disability day off!

She is wonderful and I love taking care of her. And since I am still
at home (I negotiated 6 mos off) my husband Bob is also enjoying benefits
such as laundry done BEFORE he needs it, home cooked meals, errands run,
etc.

She weighed exactly 7 pounds and was 20 inches long. Now she's a little
over 3 mos old and weighs 12 pounds and is 24 inches long. It took
me 3 mos to connect my modem/terminal here at home and the first thing
I did was come to PARENTING (I'll read my thousands of mail messages
later). I loved this conference when I was pregnant -- I know it will
be invaluable for infant questions/answers/discussions.

    Hi,

Well I finally had my baby, Jessica Jane, on 25th October.

We had a very long labour - 24 hours - and nearly had an
emergency section, but at the very last minute the doctor
was able to get Jessica with the forceps.

She is the most lovely baby and Mike and I are thrilled with
    her in every way.

She weighed 8lbs and was born at 06.07am. She has brown hair
and dark eyes. She looks rather like her Daddy!!

    Cheers for now,

16.20Welcome Kimberly Jo CoxSCAACT::COXKristen Cox - Dallas ACT Sys MgrThu Nov 15 1990 19:0123
Kimberly Jo Cox was born at 12:46 PM on Tuesday, November 6. She
weighed 9 lbs. 4 oz. and was 20.5" long. She is 21 months to the
day (and almost to the hour) behind her big sister, Katelyn, and
    they look IDENTICAL!!!

I almost feel guilty that it has been so easy. I went to the doctor
to see if he would induce me at 11:30 AM, and he said "No I can't
induce you, you are already 6 cm dialated and your bag of water is
about to break!" and walked us straight down to labor and delivery. I
checked in at 1:00 PM and had Kimmi at 2:46 PM with almost no pain at
all! Now that she is home, I can't get this kid to wake up - she wakes
up 4-5 times a day to eat, and about an hour in AM and PM to look
around, and sleeps all the rest of the time!

Katelyn is not sure what to think of the competition - she will hug and
kiss and talk to Kimmi when I lay her on the floor, but the minute I
pick her up, or ESPECIALLY when I nurse her, Kati goes berserk - she
has hit, kicked, and clawed at her, reminding her "MY Mommy!" I
think a little time, and alot of reassurance, will cure it though.

Boy do I love my two little girls!

For those of you who haven't heard...

Daniel Francis Donahue was born on October 15th, at 5:11 PM. He weighed in
at 6 lbs 14 ozs and was 20 inches long.

Of course, he is the cutest little tyke you would ever lay your eyes on. He
has dark hair (what there is of it), my nose and Franks eyes, as we've been
told.

The labor and delivery went well. An hour and 40 minutes of hard labor and
15 minutes of pushing and our son was born. For those of you who are
wondering how Frank stood up during the delivery.... He was right there!!
Even when things got frantic at the end due to fetal stress, Frank remained
calm and kept assuring me that all was well. He was a God sent!! Kept me
comfortable as possible while the delivery team ran around the room tending
to the details.

The whole family is getting settled in and are doing well. Daniel has his
8 week doctor's appointment this Friday, then we will see just how well he
is progressing.

I was able to take 4 weeks of vacation time after the 6 weeks of STD.
There fore, I won't have to go back to work until January 7th. I'm glad
I have this extra time with Daniel. He is just starting to smile and
make baby noises. He has been sleeping through the night for the past
few weeks, so Mommy is well rested for daytime fun and play.

From two of the happiest new parents you could imagine!!

The first month was alot of adjustment for Spencer - almost 23 months
then, and for mom and dad, but now things are great. Spencer
absolutly loves his brother and wants him to do everything with him.

Wendy's gestational diabetes went away immediately, despite what her

sugar, and has been terrifically healthy. He did insist, however, on
turning breech that very morning, and it was a very unusual and tough
to turn breech, so she had a C-section from which she is recovering

The proud parents, Patty and Marc Koczwara announce the birth of
Michael Paul Koczwara. Born Tuesday, May 14th at 10:20 A.M., 8 lbs 4
ozs. Michael is handsome and big brother Kevin loves him dearly and
    says we'll keep him.

We almost lost Michael a week after he was born due to a bactrial infection
that got into his blood stream. This was a result of a problem
with his kidney. He was in Boston Children's Newborn ICU for two
    weeks.

Michael is doing great now thanks to the WONDERFUL doctors and nurses
at Children's Hospital, over 13 lbs. Mom is slowly recovering from
it all. When I have some time I'll write about the ordeal, but it's
to upsetting now to even think about it.

See you all in September when I'm back to work.

Susanna Catherine Bishop was born at 7:06 am on Monday the 19th
    of August.

She's nine weeks premature, weighed four pounds at birth, and
is sixteen and a half inches long. The nurses in intensive care
say she's "feisty", but she's dealing with pneumonia and some
cerebral bleeding and has lost nine ounces (14 percent of her
birth weight). Luckily, her lungs are ok, probably due to the
stress of three weeks of pre-term labor and the special steroids
given to my wife which encourage the production of lung surfactant
    in the fetus.

Once she started sleeping through the night at 5 weeks, Mother liked

16.61Susanna comes home!TLE::MINAR::BISHOPTue Sep 24 1991 01:4727
    Update on .50:

Sunday Susanna came home, after more than a month in the hospital!
She's now just a bit over five pounds, and looks a lot more like a
baby and a lot less like a red plastic GI Joe doll with a big head.

The pneumonia went away in an unexplained way (confusing the
neonatologist) and the cerebral hemorrhage never got beyond the
lowest grade. They never did manage to culture anything from
her fluids, despite two spinal taps and taking enough blood that
she was given a transfusion of red blood cells (this worried me
some, but apparently they have a special pool of donors for
new-borns, and test blood for them much more strictly). So we'll
never know what caused the elevated white blood cell count or
    the pneumonia.

Right now she's just sleeping, and eating a bit when we wake
her up to eat--she won't wake on her own. But they tell us
it's only a matter of gaining weight and letting time pass.

Her brother Alexander is still trying to figure out what's
going on--I think he's not very pleased, but "big brother"
is too complicated for him at not-quite two.

It's nice to have the whole family at home (I'm taking leave).

    Kathy,
Congratulations! I see you got a namesake in one of your daughters.
:-) I still think it's amazing that Suzzie carried twins two weeks
past term. That's a lot of baby.

Amy Charlotte was born at 22:50GMT last night (26th March),
       weighing 7lbs 4ozs.

I have been reading this very active conference since before
my wife became pregnant. Wendy does not work for Digital, so
can't read it herself, but some of the information I've passed
on to her has been a great help, especially note 701. (She suffered
badly with all day sickness for the first three months, and it was
a great comfort to her to know that whe wasn't alone!)

I'm now going to start two weeks paternity leave - thanks to everyone
who contributes to making this conference so valuable.

       Ian (Basingstoke UK).
16.98The (Defosse)Sherman Twins are here!AKOCOA::TRIPPFri Mar 27 1992 16:3031
I am entering this for our coworker. Denise (Defosse) Sherman gave
birth to TWIN girls Tuesday night, at St Vincent's hospital in
Worcester. (We just moved from the UPO2 facility in Malboro to AKO here
in Acton recently, she hasn't even seen her new office yet!)

At this time there are no names. Baby A was delivered at 9:17p.m.
weighing 6pounds, 4 ounces. She is healthy and according to the
maternal grampa is beautiful and mellow!

Baby B was delivered at 9:29 weighing 5 pounds, 3 ounces. She was
transferred to Memorial Hospital NICU with some problems, but as of
this morning she was greatly improved and was probably being
transferred back to St. V's to join the rest of her anxious family.

Denise, herself had some problems with the birth and thanks to an
overwhelming response by her coworkers around Marlboro with blood
donations she is progressing well, and should be home in a few days.
We all believe that a lot of prayers were said for her, and think this
    helped tremendously too.

We spoke to her family this morning and understand she will be allowed
to leave the Labor and delivery area today sometime, and go to a
    regular room.

It's been an emotional rollercoaster for our group here, but we feel
everything will go well from now on.

We will, or maybe she herself will enter the baby's name when we know
more. Details as we have them.

    Well, I'm back...after about 3 months off...

Mitchell David Herndon was born on January 19, 1992, 9 lbs 21 inches

Went into labor at 3:30 am (in a snowstorm in Atlanta!) had an
emergency C-section - the labor was too much for the baby (after
17 hours) they lost his heartbeat (scariest moment in my life!)
but all turned out ok...his Apgar scores were 8 and 9.

I only dialated 3 cm and the baby wouldn't drop (I was at +2)
...they finally concluded that the baby was just too big for me
and he was tired from labor...My first doctor told me all I could
handle was a 7 lb'er....guess he was right....

    He's now 25 1/2 inches and 14 lbs....at 11 weeks...Boy they grow!

I just love everything about being a mom...he's the best baby!

16.1012 more for the Canadian CSC!KAOFS::M_FETTalias Mrs.BarneyWed Apr 15 1992 12:1119
I have been reporting all the newborns in the Canadian CSC so
far, and I have two more to announce:

Joe Vorstandlechner (a specialist in the Networks team) and his wife
Carol Leury (a customer response rep) became the proud parents of
their first, Chloe Vorstandlechner on March 18. Carol declares that
it went so well and that Chloe is such a great little baby that she
"could have 50 more!" Chloe weighed in at 7lb and 1 oz.

Marilyn Larocque (duty manager for the remote diagnostics team) became
mother of her 2nd son, Sebastian Guy Larocque on Sunday Morning (April
12). Sebastian weighed in at 8lb and 5.5 oz, and was "a lot easier
than number one!". Husband Guy and 18 month old Spencer welcome
the new family member home today.

    Monica
    (whose gender prediction was
off for the first time with Marilyn)
