1007.0. "Need ideas for a shower for twins..." by GOZOLI::BERTINO () Mon Jul 01 1991 13:28

You have all had such great ideas for birthday parties, shower gifts, and such
that I tought I would ask the experts!

My sister-in-law is expecting twins the begining of Sept. They already have
one daughter who is now 4. They were planning to have another _one_ so the twins
were quite a surprise! (I told my husband I wasn't to sure about trying again
with him, if his brother and sister-in-law can have twins without a genetic
disposition towards it!)

So far they have not been able to tell the sex of either twin on ultrasound.
She has all the equipment one, and clothes for a girl. But two is a different
story especially if one or both are boys. (of course you could dress them in
pink and take blackmail pictures for later in life!)

So:
I will be giving her a shower at my house at the end of the month. (What better
place to have a shower for twins than at a duplex!) I am looking for some sort
of twin theme to follow to make this different. Any ideas??

Also, for those of you that have twins: What made life easier for you? Saved
time, etc...

1007.1What about this...WMOIS::D_ALEXANDERMon Jul 01 1991 18:1617
    I just found out this wkend that one of my best friends
    is having twins. She is due on christmas day, but I think the
    shower will be early Nov. or maybe ever Oct.

    I have thought of a few "fun" gifts for her shower.

    This is kinda a bigger gift, a good "pitch in" gift.

    Get a double stroller and put two teddy bears in the
    seats and maybe even dress them each in a outfit,
    put a hat on them and a bottle in each of thier hands.

    I saw someone do this with just a single stroller at
    a shower once and it was real cute...i think a
    double one would even be cuter.

How about starting out from the beginning treating the twins as two
individual people, rather than "a matched set"? Many twins are
resentful of the way that people always assume they are identical to their
sibling.

If it were me, the only thing I'd do different about a shower for twins
is give an extra set of something intended for the babies, and if it was
clothing or toys, I'd make sure they were different.

    If it isn't too late could you contact the local chapter of Mothers of
    Twins. Perhaps they might give you some advise.

    Enjoy, this sounds like a great theme for a shower!

1007.4Just in time "showering"GOZOLI::BERTINOMon Aug 12 1991 14:3511
Just as an update:

We had the shower on Aug. 4th. This past Saturday (Aug. 10th) my S-I-L had
twin girls Amanda and Ashley. They were a exactly 4 weeks early so we had the
shower in the nick of time. All the gifts were very practical (i.e. diapers,
wipes, gift certificates for formula, and even a few for toy stores, etc...)

The girls are adorable and make grandchild 11 and 12 on my hisbands side. That
leaves us to have grandchild number 13!
