My sister-in-law has seen this in use and thought it was great. She
just ordered one for her 4-year-old. I thought she was getting hers
from Australia - will have to check it out. Where is it sold in New
England?

It sounds like it's made to be used with a shoulder+lab belt, which
she has in the back seat (and I'll get installed in mine, before long)

Please let us know how it works out for you. It sounds like a good
safe option.
945.2Call DownUnder Designs for Store LocationsSALES::MILLSJOANNE MILLSTue Jun 04 1991 16:5315
    You can call the manufacturer DOWN UNDER DESIGNS in Concord, MA, at
    (508) 371-0100 & they will tell you where stores are in your area.

    There are 2 stores in Concord, MA: The Harness Shop & the Concord
    Children's store. They also is a store in Natick called BabyPlace
    that carries them.

    I don't know how much it cost, other than in the magazine you could
    order it for $78 ppd.

    I haven't bought it yet. I'd like to hear from anyone that has one,
    because my son is quite large and has outgrown his carseat, and
    this looks like a good solution.

    That baby store has been closed for a couple of months now.. They
    do have a store in Manchester though...

    We belong to Tufts HMO and got a coupon book in the mail that included
    a $15/off on a Kangaroo Booster... We've been thinking about getting
    one for the time that our daughter grows out of the car seat. I, too,
    am interested in safety info, etc.
945.6High booster seat for bucket seats?PERFCT::CORMIERThu Jun 06 1991 14:508
    ANy idea if this type of seat would fit well in a bucket seat? I'm
    looking for a booster seat which will fit firmly in a bucket seat
    (many regular car seats did not fit in my car). Does anybody use a
    booster seat that does fit well and can recommend a brand and style?
    This Kangaroo sounds great, since my seats are low and I'd like my son
    to be able to see out the car windows for a change. Kind of hard to
    shout "Look at the horse" when his head is well below the window frame!

945.7I have one and recommend it . . .CAPNET::CROWTHERMaxine 276-8226Thu Jun 06 1991 19:139
    I have a kangaroo seat for my 4 year old. She loves it!! It is a full
    seat with thhick bottom to raise them up so they can see out the
    windows. It uses your regular seat belt system in the car and it fits
    them perfectly. The advantage it has over a booster seat is that it
    has sides so they can sleep comfortably. The cover is removable and
    washable.

    It is large enough to fit her for several more years.

    The original note seems to have been lost, and looks like it may have
    contained a description of this thing.

    Can I get a description? Would it be appropriate for my 4 year old?
    What is the cost? And does anyone know of a place in Worcester County
    to buy one. ( I don't do mail order, for that matter I'd rather pick
    up the phone instead of writing!)

945.9Looks like a car seat . . .CAPNET::CROWTHERMaxine 276-8226Fri Jun 07 1991 11:5513
    The Kangaroo booster seat looks like a car seat escept that it is made
    entirely of high-density foam. It uses the car's seat belt system.
    The seat portion is very thick so that little ones can see out of the
    windows. I have found it to be the perfect alternative to
    booster seats for the 3-6ish age range.

    The cost is around $70-80 and they come from a company in Concord MA.
    (mentioned in a previous reply I believe).

    I got it through the mail by calling them and ordering it. No hassle,
    no problems.
