840.0. "See you in September...." by WONDER::MAKRIANIS (Patty) Thu Apr 18 1991 19:57

I just wanted to take this time to say thanks to you all and see you
soon. Tomorrow is my last day of work until the end of the summer.
I'm due 2 weeks from Sunday (May 5th) and am so glad to be getting
out of here and getting some rest. This file has been wonderful in
helping me through my miscarriage a year ago and then dealing with
the fears of it happening again (which it didn't, this pregnancy has
been textbook perfect). You people have answered alot of my questions
though I may not have been the one to ask them and have given me a lot
of insight as to what is going to come. I will be back to work full
time the first week of September. Before that I will be working part
time (mostly from home) for a few weeks.

I just want to comment about my "textbook pregnancy" comment. I have
throughly enjoyed being pregnant. I had the morning sickness in the
beginning which ended precisely at week 13. When things were supposed
to happen (first movements, pelvic pressure, etc) it all did. I have
been fortunate enough to have gained the "right" amount of weight
(so far 26 pounds, I had a fear of ballooning out since I have to watch
my weight to keep it down). I'm not uncomfortable at all, just a little
tired. The baby has been in position for a few weeks and at my appt. on
Monday they did an internal and I've already dilated 1 cm. I know it's
not much but it's one less I have to go through during labor. She also
commented on the baby's head being *REALLY* low and figures I will
probably go early rather than late. I'm only taking that with a grain
of salt as I know I could stay at this point for the next 3 weeks.

Well, this is getting kinda long, but I'm just so excited about it all.
Hopefully I'll be getting in here after the baby is born (maybe even
before if I get my terminal and modem set up) so I'll let you all know
    what the results are.

What timing this note is. Today is my last day too! Our baby is
due May 8th. I'd planned on taking the opportunity today to enter a
note to thank everyone in this notesfile for all your support over the
last several years, especially through the 3 miscarriages I've
experienced over the last 3 years. You are a wonderful group of
    people.

Now if I can only get through the next 2 1/2 weeks or so. At least
I'll have company at home, my 4 year old son, Kevin. He's so excited
about FINALLY becoming a big brother. He's decided it's a girl
    since he's the brother.

I'll see you all in fall sometime.

    Good luck, Patty Makrianis!

    Thanks to all,

    Pat K.

840.3Announcing.....WONDER::MAKRIANISPattyMon Jul 29 1991 19:5028

    Name: Anna Sophia Makrianis
    Date: Friday May 3, 1991
    Time: 12:31am
    Weight: 7lb 2oz
    Length: 19 inches

I knew things we going to happen on Wednesday May 1 as the B-H
contractions got stronger. I was woken up by contractions at 2:30 in
the morning on Thursday. We didn't go to the hospital until 2pm. At 8pm
they broke my water and Anna came out in all her glory at 12:31am on
Friday. I was exhausted and didn't think I was going to make it, but I
did. Other than exhasution labor and delivery wasn't that bad. They did
give me something for the pain about 10pm (2mg of Stadol) since I was
hyperventilating and fighting the contractions. The Stadol took the
edge off the contractions and let me relax and breathe right.

Anna is a wonder. She's beautiful...and I'm not being prejudiced.
People stop me wherever I go to comment on how beautiful she is. She's
go dark hair and HUGE!!! dark eyes (she gets those from her Greek
father). Watching her personality develop these past 3 months has been
amazing. She's a really good baby and she sleeps through the night!!!!

I'm back to work part-time for the next 5 weeks and then come Labor
Day I'm back full time. Well, I've got a lot of catching up to do.
    See you around.

Congratulations Patty on the birth of Anna Sophia. It sounds like you
pulled through labor like a champ. I'm proud of you. Have you
considered copying to the birth announcements note?
