    Sounds like a good reason to have a parenting party, to welcome you all
    out east.
    btw, I'd vote for tax-fee NH ala Nashua.

Since Sammy broke the news, I thought I might get some hints in
transitioning little ones.

The plan goes like this:

1 Dad and Mom drive the 2K miles with car & RV to Nashua (staying
at the Field & Stream Camp Ground in Brookline). Mom looks for
house while dad starts work at TTB in Nashua.

2 Mom flies home week later to start packing loose stuff in house
for move. I bought him a book for me to read to him about moving.

3 Hopefully and with God's help, house sells soon (like by June).
If not, we'll rent a house and pack up and have movers move stuff
to rental home. Dad will fly home and drive second car to NH with
Sammy and Mei-Mei (cat). This will be the fun or dregery;
depending how well the weather is and how Sam takes to 4 days of
car ride. Sammy will be 3 on 4-May. I may want to take the trip
in as much as 7 days since we drove the 800 miles to Grandma's &
Grandpa's, he was ok with a lot of stops. We had his potty in
the car and MADE him run between us for exercise.

Here's where I have no plans; totally open to suggestion.

Thanks,

Calvin
768.8Welcome East party!CGHUB::JANEBSee it happen => Make it happenMon Mar 18 1991 13:336
I vote for a Welcome East party for Sammy (ok, and his parents).

A potluck dinner/picnic, around the time that they're still in the
campground, when hot dogs and s'mores are wearing thin.

What do you think?

A lot of folks have suggested that in a move, the kid's room be set up
first.

Good luck, Cal, and congrats on the new job!

Thanks for the talk about the welcome Sammy party; the details
are still being worked; when does dad start, when do we move,
etc. I will keep you folks posted here.

768.11Use RV to travel with Sammy.GEMINI::CULLENTue Mar 19 1991 18:1210
    If you didn't need the RV to live in, I would suggest leaving it behind
    until you were ready to bring Sammy out. Traveling in an RV with
    little ones is SO MUCH easier than in a car. No potty stops, no diaper
    stops, no food stops. Just need to stop every two hours for a five
    minute walk.

    If you run into anything a NH native and fellow RVer could help with,
    let me know.

Donna,

Since I am not on corporate relo, I have to live in it (in lieu
of a corporate furnished apartment). We plan to make a short
vacation of it since I have NEVER travelled by car across the
USA

Judy suggested that I ask for a recommended primary/family doctor under
the Digital's HealthNet Plan. We signed up for HealthNet since
Digital medical plan would have cost us triple in Colorado
Springs. I understand that HealthNet is part of the offering in
nashua area.

768.14Matthew Thornton - Health NetGEMINI::CULLENThu Mar 21 1991 16:1110
    Calvin,

    My family uses an HMO called Health Source in New Hampshire. It is not
    part of the Health Net Plan, but we are very happy with it.

    I know there are many noters who use an HMO called Matthew Thornton
    (Nashua/Merrimack Area) or Hitchcock Clinic (Manchester). This HMO is
    part of Health Net.

    Anyone else out there with some recommendations for Calvin?

specific doctors. Recommendations (and anti-recommendations) should be

Well, the job fell through this morning. I will not be coming east as
soon as I thought or not at all.

Thank you for the congratulations. I will be very careful next
time to write about taking a position until I have a hard copy in
my hand.

I am sadden but I will not give up.

768.17Sammy says Good Bye, too!CSC32::C_HOEDaddy not working today?Mon Mar 25 1991 19:129
Perhaps I should wait to say adieu; my life has been a rollar
coaster ride these last two weeks. Sammy is the stablizer in the
whole ride.

Barring divine intervention, I will be leaving DEC with a bag of
money this friday. My ERC manager will go away and so far, he
tells me that the layoff for me is a possibility.

768.18Sorry - good luckWORDY::STEINHARTPixillatedMon Mar 25 1991 19:3811
    Calvin, I'm so sorry to hear this. It's tough times all around.

    Not much consolation, but you're probably better off in Colorado than
    in Mass. The unemployment here is ridiculous and people are pretty
    depressed and worried. The cost of housing came down a lot but its
    still higher than Colorado, I understand.

    You will be missed. Good luck. I hope you slide right into a good
    job real soon.

Folks,

Please don't be sorry. I'm not; I was glad to have your help in
bring up Sammy. You followed his growth from his adoption to
potty training. He's quite the little joy in our lives.

I have "met" many folks through this notes file; customers who
were former DECies to DECies who are moved around.

Please remember, these little ones are God's precious children;
shared with us for a very limited time. Nurture them with lots of
love. In turn, they can turn the darkest days into a sun-shinning
day, filled with rainbows.

My humble thanks, and speaking for Judy, Sammy,
