752.0. "Pregnancy lite-dreaming about baby's sex" by SWAM2::DERY_CH () Wed Mar 06 1991 18:00

I have a "lite" question to throw out to all of you.

I'm 2-1/2 months pregnant and have been having lots of strange
dreams. Two dreams in particular I've dreamt that I'm carrying
a baby boy. It doesn't matter to either my husband or myself
what sex the baby is, the most important thing is at s/he is
healthy. Anyway, my question is.....has anyone else had similar
dreams regarding the baby's sex before you knew for sure what
you were carrying? Were the dreams accurate? I'm not going to
paint the nursery blue just yet ;^}, but would love to hear from
others who may have experienced this.

    Thanks!

    Cherie....

I'm 1 1/2 months pregnant, and I had a dream last week that I was
    introducing someone to my "son"....

    Hmmmmm...makes you think!

Another note, my Mom saw a psychic last Sunday, and when she asked him
about me and her future grandchild, he said he also saw a "boy"...

    Only time will tell!
Can't wait to hear more replies to this one.

Well, not to scare you or anything, but when I was pregnant with my
twins, I dreamed I had boy and girl piglets. I even remember one
of them was named courtney. Later on I dreamed I had squirrals and
then these two little green things with red eyes! All my ultra
sounds said they were boys. One of my mothers friends went to
a psychic (sp?) and she was told that she knew someone who was
about to have beautiful twin girls. I was the only one that she
knew that was pregnant with twins. And they are beautiful twin girls!

I am now 20 weeks pregnant. I had 4 dreams that the baby was a girl
prior to receiving my amnio results. I am carrying a girl! I have not
had any dreams about the sex of the baby since then. Have had many
strange dreams, but not about the sex of the baby. I really wanted a
girl, so I thought perhaps that was influencing my dreams.

I had only one dream that I had a girl, then numerous others indicating
    a boy. I had a girl.

A friend of mine dreamed she delievered her baby. She saw the face and
sex (a boy). She ended up having a boy, and swears to this day that the
face in her dream was the same as her baby's!

752.5Dream a little dream for me.IOSG::CORMANThu Mar 07 1991 10:5418
During my pregnancy, I never dreamed of a baby of either sex,
but rather a faceless, genderless baby. My husband, on the other
hand, dreamt throughout the pregnancy of a baby boy and was
sure I was carrying a boy. Two weeks before the due date, he
had a very vivid dream of playing ball with a little blond
haired girl who called him daddy. That convinced him that we
were having a girl. I laughed at him, because both he and
I have brown hair and brown eyes.

Today, we have a little blond haired, gray eyed girl who loves
to play ball with her daddy.

I don't believe that dreams tell you what will happen, but
rather tell you what you would like to happen. In my husband's
case, he was happy to have a boy or a girl. But then, I would
never claim to really understand dreams.

When I was pregnant, my husband really wanted for us to have a boy.
Well, I dreamed that I had a boy, but it was a boy kitten. Hubby
didn't seem to notice that it was a kitten, only that it was a boy.
    We had a girl !

752.8Boy and Girl dreams!DEMON::MARRAMAThu Mar 07 1991 12:5512
I am due in 3 weeks and have had dreams about a girl and a boy. My
husband on the other hand has had 3 dreams of girls. One of them he
actually saw the beautiful face. When I first got pregnant we both had
a dream of a beautiful baby girl with blond hair and blue eyes. We
don't care what we have as long as its healthy but we are hoping for a
    boy.

    3 weeks and counting!!!!!!!

First dream (of 4 total): nursing my new, gender-unimportant, kitten!
Those needly teeth were not comfortable!

Dreams 2 through 4: skin of my belly would grow transparent, then
vanish; I'd reach in and lift out the baby myself. After several
minutes I'd remember to check the gender--a girl, all 3 times.

Interesting that in all dreams determining the sex was a real
afterthought, when in waking reality I reeeeaaallly wanted a girl.

I had Alexandra by "emergency" C-section (stalled at 8cm for 2 hours).

I was the type to say "i dont care if its a boy/girl, I just want healthy".
Then I had numerous dreams of a girl. I had a girl. So I dont think my
thoughts were influencing my dreams.

Funny thing too, when I delivered and I saw her for the first time, my
rather sleepy thoughts were 'ya...thought so!'. Not like "OH wow, its a girl!"
Like I expected it all along.

yes, we do have strange dreams while pregnant. I dreamed by baby was
Afro-American. I had a difficult time explaining that to my husband in
the dream. Needless to say, neither one of us is black......

I wonder how that could have happened?????????? Strange dreams indeed.

    P.S. it was a girl

I dreamed with both my pregnancies, boys. I have 2 boys!!! One thing
that I really wanted, was hair on my baby!!! I did have a couple of
dreams that my baby had hair. I remember thinking, Oh good, he'll have
hair!!! Both boys had a head full!

With my first I wanted a boy soooooo bad. I had several dreams that
were of boys. I had only 1 that was a girl. My husband also had
mostly dreams of boys. I too thought I was influencing my dreams.

Needless to say, I have my little guy! Now, I am 4 monts pregnant with
number #2. I would love to have a girl! I have not started to dream
    about it yet.

    Keep dreaming...

A good friend of mine saw her blond daughter saying "Hi Mommy," in
the mirror in a jewelry store display about two years before she
even decided she wanted a baby. She was just walking down the
street windowshopping, not thinking of anything in particular,
when she saw the face, and when she turned around, there wasn't
anybody else on the street at all. Then the face was gone.

She now has a beautiful blond daughter . . .

752.15My dreams....WONDER::MAKRIANISPattyFri Mar 08 1991 16:2619

With my first pregnancy (ended in miscarriage) I never had a single
dream, but didn't realize it until I got pregnant again and started
haveing dreams (this one is going along just fine - 8 more weeks to
go). Anyways all my dreams were earlier in the pregnancy and I dreamt
the baby was a boy that looked just like my husband. In one dream I was
having an ultrasound done and I could see my full grown child and he
could see me and kept calling for me. At about 5 months I started
having dreams about twins - one boy and one girl. I finally figured it
all out...I think. I already had a name picked out if we had a boy but
not for a girl yet. Once I decided on a girls name I started dreaming
about the twins. I have absolutely no preference for myself as to what
sex my child is. For my in-laws I hope for a boy (first grandchild -
Greek heritage - only Makrianis's that came from Greece that we know
of), but for my folks I kinda want a girl as they already have a
grandson. I don't even have a feeling yet whether it's a boy or a girl.
We'll just have to wait and see.

The only dream I had during my first pregnancy was that we brought home
a (genderless) baby, put her (well, turned out to be a her) to bed in
her crib, and went to bed ourselves. The next morning (in the dream),
we both got up and went to work as usual. About half way through the day,
I suddenly remembered we had a new baby at home all by herself!

You'll be happy to know that since Caileigh really arrived, we have
    never forgotten about her!

When I first became pregnant, my husband dreamed that we had a little boy,

    him BARNEY!!!"

Barney turned out to be a little girl.

A few months before I was married I remember having a dream of me
taking a little boy with blue eyes out of his blue snowsuit on the
kitchen counter of a friend's house. More than a year later I had a
    boy.

I had a dream recently that my sister's baby (soon to be born) was a
boy with thick black hair. She truly wants a girl (been a long time
since we've had little girls in our family).

During my pregnancy I don't remember having any dreams on any specific
gender, until three days before I had my baby. I remember waking up
after dreaming about a little boy. He was sitting up and was laughing.
He had on a blue sunsuit that had a white sailboat on it. When I woke
up I thought, I wonder who's baby that is?

I had had 3 sonograms during the pregnancy and each and every time
I was told that it was a girl.

It was my baby! I had a boy and it is the same baby I dreamt about.
The only person I told the dream to was my husband, so when my Mom came
over the other day with a blue sunsuit with a white sailboat on it, I
    about passed out!

I had a dream last month that I had a blond, blue eyed.......

    CABBAGE PATCH PREEMIE!

You know that face?? the Bulging blue eyes?? I didn't realise it
through my dream, until I woke up and KNEW I had seen that face before.
Took me over an hour to figure out WHERE I had seen it though.

Lets hope thats a dream that "doesn't" come true.

Other than the one dream in the beginning that I had a "son", I can't
say I have had any other dreams about the "sex" of the baby. But for
some reason, I have this "feeling" its a girl, when I picture having
a baby around the house,etc.. (even though we were hoping for a boy)
Either or, I'll be happy to meet this little one (who has been kicking
    up a storm all day!)

752.22It must have been something I ate...PARZVL::PMACHLDRN:grow in health,wisdom,peaceWed Aug 14 1991 03:0249
Hello. I've been away from this Notesfile for awhile, but I thought
    I'd respond to this.

When I was pregnant with our first child, I dreamed I was in labor. My
husband, doctor and a nurse were present. When I delivered, absolute
silence filled the room. Each then gasped. The doctor told me to
not be upset...as he lifted a beautiful Kerry Blue Terrier puppy and
laid it on my stomach. (Our family pet was a Kerry Blue - and she
had "made me grandmother" the year before.)

I was calm in the dream - and decided that "if this is what's meant
to be, I can handle this." I awoke in a cold sweat.

We had a girl, who just turned twelve - and had the chicken pox on
    her birthday!

When I was pregnant with my second, I dreamed that I kept having false
labor. The first time, I was in a regular labor room. The doctor
arrived from a party. The second time, they put me in a dingy room.
The doctor was awakened during the night. The third time, they
put me in a cellar, and the doctor came from a business meeting.

The fourth time, they put me in a open-air market place, only it
wasn't a real market place - it just looked like one. All around me
women were moaning and in labor, and most were on the floor. I was lucky
to get a table (real wood table) to lay on. This time was not false
labor. After I delivered, the doctor put a little monkey on my stomach,
and said: "Here, this is what you get for being a pain in the a*s."
Now, my ob/gyn is a wonderful, compassionate, funny man.

Well, we had another girl, who is now 7.5, and brought the chicken
pox home two days after school let out.

When I was pregnant with our third, I was "old", and had an amnio. We
found out on that day that we would have a son.... I never had a dream
    while I carried him.

He's 4.5 now, and had the chicken pox last.

Anyway, they're all wonderful, but that middle one has a real flair for
comedy - and I say: "You little monkey!" She grins.

    Regards,

    Pat MilliganAbber
