274.0. "Photographers that come to your house?" by FSOA::DCAKERT () Wed Aug 22 1990 13:05

    I have seen adds in our local paper (Sudbury Town Crier) for
    photographers that come to your house and take "somewhat" candid
    pictures of your children. Has anyone ever done this before? Is
    is worth it? How much does it cost? Anyone ever use someone in
    my area that they would recommend?

    I tried the Olin Mills, Sears route already......I don't think they
    have working parents in mind....you wait so long, and then they
    weren't so great.

    Thanks,

    Donna

274.1Baby Photographers of AmericaMORO::NEWELL_JOJodi Newell - Irvine, Calif.Wed Aug 22 1990 17:1711
    Baby Photographers of America is one such company that
    specializes in photographing your wee ones at home.
    They took pictures of Michael at 18 days. They hold
    the newborns in cute poses and snap the picture just
    as they let go and before the baby falls out of position.
    Some parents probably would be uncomfortable with this
    practice. I have to admit, the pictures came out
    pretty cute.

    I can recommend a company in Bolton depending on your location. Send a
    mail if you're interested.

274.3Not candidsMAJORS::MANDALINCIFri Aug 24 1990 08:567
    My sister has a company (I think either Sear's or JC Penney) come to
    her house to take pictures. They weren't candids but they brought the
    backdrop and all the props. It is convenient when you've got "Irish
    Twins" and they are very young. The pictures have always come out well
    but that depends upon the photographer.

274.4Would you consider a free lance photographer?MARLIN::HOOPERWed Aug 29 1990 16:3111
    The sitter that comes to our house worked as a professional
    photographer in Czechoslovakia. She surprised us with several
    candid and posed photos of our baby! She used natural light and
    fun settings. These are by far the best photos out of our
    "warehouse sized collection" !!

    She and her family are working several jobs until they receive
    citizenship in two years. I'd be happy to ask her if she'd be
    interested in free lancing -- just send me mail.

Can you post where she's located please? I'd hate to see you get mail from all
over the place! For instance, I'm up in Nashua, NH and I might be interested,
but if you and she are located in Westfield (or Colorado!) it's kinda pointless
for me to send you mail.

Also, anyone else who can recommend photographers who come to your home might
want to post such info here (name, location, ballpark prices if known).

	Thanks,
		Sue

    this theme..

    Thanks for the interest -- Julia
