Hi Colette:

I work in the Child Care Program Office with Erica Fox, who passed your memo on
to me.

Sorry you have experienced difficulties in reaching your R&R. If you look on
the second page of your Referral Program Telephone Directory you will see all
the numbers listed for Massachusetts. Choose the location nearest to where you
live (or work should you wish to have your child close to the work site), and
substitute the 508 area code if appropriate. In your specific situation you
will note that Maynard is covered by Waltham/Acton and their number is
(617)891-4023. New directory cards are at the printers now and should be
available within the next couple of weeks - that will take care of the area code
problems.

Digital contracts with Work/Family Directions to provide Resource and Referral
nationally to our employees. Work/Family in turn contracts with local R&R's to
provide the service. In order to become part of the referral list, day care
providers must be licensed/registered by the State and are required to meet
certain regulatory codes.

Should you continue to experience problems, please get back to me as that is the
best way for us to monitor the program. Meanwhile, good luck, and I hope you
find the child care person to meet your needs.

Regards,

Ann

I was tring to find the note about lienced vs non-lienced day cares,
failing that, I thought the following might relate to this note:

My wife wanted to be listed with the referal service Digital uses.
We contacted them and are now in the process of working with them to
be listed. The service does not require a day care [in New Hampshire]
to be lienced if less than 3 children being cared for [only 2 less
    than 2 years old].
The process we are going through seems more reasonable than those of
the state. My wife will have to have a physical. The service will
visit our home. She will have to agree to certain terms and
proceedures. The service provides a complaint proceedure for the
    parents.

I have just recently used them, so the numbers are still on a Post-it
    here in front of me...

Child Care Search, Karen is the contact, 508 875-6537, it covers
Northboro eastward, not sure how far "North county" they go.

Child Care Connection: don't have a contact, 757-3880, covers
Shrewsbury through the western end of Worcester County.

There may be a third one yet covering the Fitchburg area, if there
is either agency should have information of the name, contact and
    number to call.

My personal experience with them is very excellent!

If you want to call me (296-4629) I can give you some of the providers
they recommended to me only a couple weeks ago, plus a couple I have
    used in the past.

Digital - In-home child care service available to all U.S. employees
	{Livewire, U.S. News, 24-Feb-92}
Since last July, Digital has offered a special service to support employees
interested in having their child cared for at home. The "In-Home Care Service"
is provided to all U.S. employees as part of Digital's Child Care Resource and
 Referral Program.
"Although service usage has been heavy in the Northeast, we haven't gotten
many calls yet from employees in other parts of the country," says Erica Fox,
Digital's Child Care Program manager. "Employees in all U.S. locations can get
 customized help by calling (800) 635-0606, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and 9
 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays.
The team of counselors staffing the In-Home Service is a knowledgable and
experienced group. Their help extends beyond referrals to nanny agencies; they
provide counseling on screening techniques and advice on maintaining a
positive relationship after your provider begins working for you."
To familiarize employees with Digital's In-Home Care Service and address
related questions and concerns, the Child Care Program Office is offering a
lunchtime workshop called "Finding and Keeping an In-Home Care Provider." The
workshop is presented by the team of counselors staffing the In-Home Service.
A limited number of workshops is still available, free of charge, to
interested locations around the U.S. For more information, contact Erica Fox
 @MSO or ICS::FOX.
