97.0. "MAIL ORDER CATALOGS" by FDCV07::HSCOTT (Lynn Hanley-Scott) Wed May 06 1992 14:50

I used the topic in the last Parenting notesfile, so I figure this is a
good place for another one on the subject of CATALOGS.

Before I had my son, Chris, I had received a catalog in the mail about
ordering baby announcements. Does anyone out there happen to have a
new copy of this catalog. It was only a few pages long, not really
a magazine size. With the second one due in 3 weeks, I would appreciate
getting one soon, so I can make up my mind on the type I would like
    to order.

    Thanks for any help!!!

You might also want to check with your benefits person in Personnel.
DEC has a book where you can order invitations from at a reduced price.
If I remember correctly, there were also birth announcements in there.

97.10800 number for NH Buyer's ServiceSOTT::NAULTTue Sep 29 1992 16:1334
Just an update note on NH's Buyers Service.

They do have an 800 number still. It is 1-800-933-9306.
Be patient though. I've tried for about 1 1/2 days getting busy
signals the whole time. But eventually I have gotten through.
They will send you a catalog. I received it within a couple days.

Their prices appear to be great! Only problem is they don't accept
    credit cards.

Here's some comparison shopping I have done on cribs:

NH Buyers Serv. Burlington Coat Factory Baby Specialties
    Childcraft $205.34 $230.00 $230.00

Great news about the credit cards at NH Buyer's Service!

Also, I just received a flyer advertising their Pre-Christmas
Annual Sale now thru Nov. 14, 1992. They are offering 10% off
their regular prices - I believe on all items. Given their better
than normal prices, no sales tax and now this, I am definitely
going to give them a try.

I am planning to call in my order this Thursday and pick up the
stuff at the warehouse to avoid shipping charges.

My first reaction to this was "Lillian Vernon". Of course, I can't
give you a number or anything right now, but if I remember to bring

I have been getting into a number of very particular catalogs lately,
thanks to those catalogs you can order catalogs out of. One catalog I
thought EVERYONE would enjoy/find-useful is a small newsprint type
circular that is an amalgamation of where to find and send off for
FREE stuff (catologs, recipes, coupon, samples). Some industrious
person is running an information business and seems to have done a very
    thorough job!
    The catalog (circular) is called:

NATIONAL DIRECTORY OF FREE AND INEXPENSIVE COOK BOOKS AND FREE THINGS
    FOR YOUR KITCHEN
They also include information on how to get government fliers on
FDA regulations (additives, etc) as well as a number of supply
    catalogs.

Since most of these addresses for free stuff listed is American, this
flier will be of much more help to the majority of you than for me. 8-)

97.18Update on NH Buyer's ServiceSOTT::NAULTMon Jan 11 1993 11:1325
    re: .12

Just an update on my experience with NY Buyer's Service. I bought our
baby's bedding, crib, changing table, glider rocker and matching ottoman,
and infant car seat from them and save lots of $$$$.

As I mentioned, they had a 10% off sale (and their normal prices are
much better than other stores) + no MASS taxes + we picked the stuff up
at the warehouse to avoid delivery charges.

I have seen a sale on the rocker at Spags that was about $5 less - and
the car seat on sale for the same price at Lechmere's. Otherwise, I've
seen nothing to match the prices that we got.

The people were wonderful to deal with - both over the phone and up at
the warehouse. Only problem I ran into was that they had the wrong
bumpers for the bedding (easy mistake since they ordered the bumpers
that went with the bedding - but I had wanted a different one!)
but they placed the order again for me. Picked it up this weekend - it
    looks great!

Just wanted to let everyone know my experiences with this place -
    definitely worth looking into ...

The "Safety Zone" -- 1-800-999-3030 -- advertised an "Edge & Corner

catalog (last edition that I received). The item # was #C617120.

A second source for child safety products is "The Perfectly Safe

I have also gotten this catalog. The merchandise is the same stuff
that they sell at the store called "The Right Start". I've gotten The
Right Start catalog as well and it is set up pretty much the same way.
My hunch is that these are both the same company. The Right Start is
located in the Burlington as well as the Natick mall. I live in that
store although it is rather expensive. I try to wait until things are
on sale. Anyone else find the same findings?

I've ordered from both One Step Ahead and the Right Start, but only for
things that I couldn't find in stores (swim diaper, Avent bottles...)
Generally you can get most of their things in stores like Wal-Mart,
    Toys-r-Us... for less money.

Their prices are high on strollers also. I got my Emmaljunga for $70
less than what they want for it in the catalog. I do enjoy looking
through these catalogs though and seeing what's new in baby products.
They really do have some interesting things.

I, too, enjoy looking through them. They give me good ideas on

    Hi,

Re .34... I know of a couple of good clothing catalogs (Biobottoms,
Hanna Anderson), but can't be sure about the premie sizes. If you
get in touch with their customer service departments, they can help
you with specifics, maybe even giving you a lead to another company.

Most of the catalog companies have 800 numbers. Call 800 information
(1-800-555-1212), and ask for the number for 'x' company, and go from
    there. Good luck!

When my little guy was born I discovered a great preemie catalogue. It
is from The Preemie-M Company. This company was started by a nurse who
had a premature baby. She usually answers the phone and is a wonderful
person to talk to. For a free catalogue call 408-927-7100.

Also, for a less expensive option you might try places like the
Goodwill. Very often you can find *tiny* sleepers that are in excellent
shape probably because they weren't used very often.

97.39PlayClothes catalog - quality of clothes?WMOIS::LYONS_SWed Jun 14 1995 16:0016

I just got a new issue of the "Playclothes" catalog. (I'm glad I did
seeing it's been almost a year since I got the last one). It's funny,
because I was getting all kinds of catalogs for children's clothes and
misc. items when I didn't have children and now that I am about to have
    one, the catalogs are scarce!.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone ordered through this catalog and if
so how the quality of the clothes are? The prices seem reasonable and
the outfits are adorable but I wasn't sure how the quaity was. I also
get fustrated that you can find a great outfit you would like to buy
that is at a great price but then when you add in the shipping charges
it's not such a great buy anymore.

I am posting a reply here because I cannot find the original note that
