congrats to Monica and here is our news. Can you tell I work in
    networks? :-)

Celia (Seals) and Dave are delighted to announce the arrival of Rebecca Kate
Marsh. Rebecca arrived on 29-APR-1992:12:00.00 and weighs 6lbs 1oz. This was
9 days ahead of estimated ship date with a submission turnaround of only 40
minutes!
Due to Rebecca's transverse breech presentation, and the compact size
of the motherboard, delivery was by ECS (Epidural Caesarean Section) rather than
the painful alternative NCL (Natural Childbirth Labour).
Rebecca supports all the main protocols and makes frequent use of the
Hunger Babble timer in order to receive down-line loads from Seals.

Just a little thanks for the wonderful replies -- I have Charlotte in
my lap, typing one handed. We're home since yesterday around dinner.
Lots of the typical new parents trials and tribulations -- REALLY sore
nipples, screwed up sleep from the hospital (Its a lot like central
station there!) and a little jaundice to take care of. Other than that,
    its GLORIOUS!
Alan has just returned from an outting, has come up to me and said
"Are you exposing her to EMF's already? Gimme my baby!" 8-) 8-)

I will surely post our details as soon as I can.

She has a great chubby face, a double chin and a head FULL of hair.
Lots and lots of dark hair that I am sure will change to blonde just
    like mine did.

    Monica

P.S. Yes, it was him who posted the annoucement (shh!)

(almost 3 years old) is very gentle and loving towards her.

Congratulations to all of the parents of the new children!!!

So that some more recent noters will understand: the great outpouring of
happiness toward Monica and her family is because they had previously lost a
baby nearly at full term, and had shared the pregnancy and birth and loss
with us at that time. Some of us feel very involved, as perhaps part of
Monica's extended family, and this birth of their child Charlotte is therefore
all the more sweet.

And Charlotte was born on my birthday!!!!! :-) :-)

Got tears in my eyes just reading all these wonderful notes - haven't
had to opportunity to sign in until now -- Charlotte has been a little
cranky and doesn't sleep too much between feedings (dozes for 5 minutes
crys for 10) - best time for her is between midnight and 6, but then
we BOTH try to sleep 8-) 8-).
Right now she is dozing on Opa's (her Granddad's) lap so that I can
do a little house work and mail reading.

    Many thanks!!

Just back to work today, I thought I should take this opportunity to
announce the arrival of Carolyn Victoria Diaz. She was born April 7
(1.5 weeks overdue) at 3:42 am. Once she decided it was time to make
her debut, she had at it. She was born 1 hour and 15 minutes after my
first contraction. Lucky for me the hospital was a 5 minute drive, she
was born 3 minutes after arrival weighing 7 lbs. 13 oz. and 20.4
    inches.

She is doing splendidly, at 2 weeks she weighed 9 lbs 11 oz. and at 2
months 14 lbs. 3 oz. We are having trouble getting her to take a bottle
but that's another story. It looks like she will have blue eyes and
fair skin in contrast to her dark eyed, dark skinned sister Justine.

The whole story is quite a funny one (it would have made a great Dick
VanDyke episode). I managed to attract the attention of an orderly in
the emergency room and he ran me down the hall to the LDR. The nurse
there tried to determine what stage of labor I was in by feeling my
abdomen and I just said "no - I'm pushing". She helped me on the bed
and as I was taking my pants off, my husband walked in and said
    "the baby has dark hair".

Thanks for the congrats, I'm sure I'll have more stories about this

Morgan Leigh Kudlich was born on 25 May, after a short and trouble free
    labor!  She now spends mornings with her papa and afternoons with me;
we had a wonderful summer getting to know eachother. She is a great
sleeper (usually 11 hours every night, for weeks now!!!) and a great
eater, although she is weaning herself rather early for my liking...

Born with a full head of hair (did not quite reach her eyebrows), she
has been smiling for ever and has a great gleam in her eyes. She looks
like she'll keep her blue eyes and brown hair with red highlights. A
wonder in our lives, and Nathan LOVES her; so impressed with his

Well since I got bumped off the system when I was on STD, this is my
    first chance to announce:

Chelsea Rose Szafirski...born May 12, 1992 (after 40 hours of labor!)
    Weight: 7lbs 12 oz
    Length: 20 Inches

Now that she is four months old...13 pounds and 24 inches....my they
    grow so fast!!

Chelsea has opened up a whole new world of love and joy for her two
proud parents. I still cry each night when we have lullabye time,
because I can't believe that we are so lucky to be blessed with this
    child.

She has brown hair (if you can call it hair!) and big beautiful blue
eyes. A very happy, healthy little girl.

We were kinda worried that they might have mixed up the petri dishes
in the lab....but when we saw the dimple smack in the middle of her
chin (just like her daddy)...we knew that didn't happen.

Congrats to all the new parents.

Nicholas Chalmers is proud to announce the arrival of his new baby

    Hi everyone,

I would like to proudly announce the arrival of my first son after four
daughters. Kendrick David Henmueller was born on August 12, 1992 at
4:06PM after an astounding ONE HOUR labor. Kendrick weighed in at
9lbs. 14 oz. and 22 inches long. It took a little while to get used
to changing a boy but I think I have the swing of it now. Very mellow
and happy baby - at least so far. Today is my first day back and I
    really miss him!!!!

Wednesday was my first day back at work 8-(
Nicholas is a wonderful baby. An absolute angel. Makes me want 10
more. He was born 3.5 weeks early. Water broke at work and I was
10 cm dialated 2 hours later. So much for those child birth classes.
I spent most of my labor driving from work to the hospital.

She's that apple of her parents eyes and being the first grandchild on

that is now honey blonde, she has huge blue eyes and we're always
getting stopped in the store by people who comment on her beautiful
eyes and spiked hair (it will just not lay flat). I can't believe
    how quickly she's growing up.

brown...and it is what we call the "mohawk style"...sticks straight
up no matter what you do! Chelsea also has big beautiful blue eyes
and like you mentioned, its something people always stop and comment
    on.

Now that I'm back to work after maternity leave....

Our second daughter, Sarah Anne Rollman, was born November 3, 1992 at 6:23 AM.
8 lbs, 6 oz, and only 4-1/2 hours of labor. (My husband kept trying to rush me
off to the hospital, and I kept saying, "Lots of time, lots of time...". But
then my idea of the right time to get there is one or two contractions before
the pushing starts.)

She looks exactly like my older daughter Elise, only bigger. Elise is wildly
in love with her new sister, and has pointed out that Sarah has no
words, and no teeth.

We're still living in Newborn Hell, but we hope for some sleep soon....

Robert is a great baby... Big now, he's almost 11 weeks old and he's
15lbs, and 25 inches. Nothing like my 1st son (he'll be 8 years old on
    February 7th).

My first son Ryan, was almost a week late, 7 lbs. 7 ozs., and a

natural. I have to admit, I was crazy with fear about having him
natural, but with the support of a great doctor everything was great.
Not easy but, everything was fine. After I had Robert, I even told my

    Weight @ birth: 8 pounds 5ounces Length: 21 1/2 inches long

my little Jordan had a rough start. Being born with phenomonia and
being a lazy breather(she stoped breathing for two days) its amazing
that she is here. She is still quit petite, she is five months and
weights in at 13pounds 12ounces. She was in the hospital for five days
in an incubater on iv's in both feet. They had to supplement her the
five days she was there with formula through a tiny tube so I never got
to experiance the joys of breastfeeding but now I am injoying life with
    my healthy daughter.

We have two sons who are 7 1/2 and 5 1/2. People told us we were crazy
to think about having another since our baby was going to be starting
kindergarten (why start over?). Well, we think THEY are all crazy. She

I've never formally introduced myself in this conference but will do so now
through the introduction of my new son: Alexander Jan Coughlin Horvath was born
June 30 at Emerson Hospital. He was 7 lbs. 1 oz and other than some Jaundice at
birth is very healthy and beautiful. Alex is considered by all who know him to
be a miracle baby. He was finally conceived, as a result of the GIFT procedure,
after 8 years of infertility, 5 IVF's,a GIFT and several miscarriages. It is
still hard to believe he is really here. Our additional gift is that he is a
happy easy going baby who is already 14 pounds.

Today is my 3rd day back to work. Unfortunately my husband is out of work,
but fortunately he is doing child care 3 days per week. For dad and Alex's
benefit, we have day care 2 days per week. Alex's first day of day care he
received a gold star for being a smiley good baby! I think this arrangement
made my reentry to work easier.

labor was much more difficult this time around, due to his

12.175Morgan Kathleen MehringAMCUCS::MEHRINGFri Jan 14 1994 21:0134
Well, it's my second day back at work after a 3-month leave to enjoy
our newest family member, Morgan Kathleen.

	Born:	October 27, 1993, 2 a.m. (5 days late)
	Weight:	8 lbs. 14 oz.
	Length:	21 1/2 in.
	Eyes:	Blue
Hair:	Not much, but sort of light brown/blonde

Labor seemed like an eternity (~32 hrs) since I expected it to be
shorter than the first (~22 hrs), but when she finally arrived I was
shocked and thrilled to see she was a girl (was convinced it would be
another boy since the pregnancies were nearly identical and after
hearing from everyone "you look like you're carrying a boy.." I started
to believe it I guess). Morgan's a real sweet baby - and fortunately
a perfect sleeper - so she's a joy to be with (full of smiles and
giggles these days too).

Big Brother Collin (2 1/2) is doing well with Morgan - loves to include
her in his play "You be the fire engine and I'll be the ambulance...."
(Hot Wheel talk...) and to shower her with kisses. He does have
occasional "fits" when he can't wait for mommy or daddy to free up their
attention totally for his needs, but so far no physical incidents
between the two. There will no doubt be time for that later!

It's tough to be away from both kids full-time, especially the newest
one, but they have each other for comfort (same family day care home)
and I'm familiar with the providers, so that helps. It's also good to
be back - I'm looking forward to catching up on PARENTING notes even-
tually. It's so nice to have this source of knowledge and support to
get through the myriad of issues that arise in the first year(s).

Proud and lucky mother of 2,
-Cori

BETTER LATE THAN NEVER!

Paul Joseph Walter
October 19th, 1993
12:23 p.m.
8lbs 13oz.
20 1/2 in.
EYES: Blue .. for now, we still can't tell at 15 weeks if they
will be dad's baby blues or mom's big and brown
HAIR: Dark Dark brown at birth, getting blonder every day

I'm back! :( Not too happy about it, but I have been working full time
now for 3 weeks, this being the 4th. Its getting easier but I had no idea
how difficult it would be to leave my son behind.

My Little Paul Joseph is no longer that little. At 15 Weeks, he is 18.5lbs
and technically a "little fatty". Mom and son are doing fine and daddy is
home with son, bonding until the first of March. Our labor was long and
strenuous, they sent us home after a our "first night" of labor telling me
it was "false" and to calm down. The next night, my water broke at 2:00 a.m.
and we arrived one hour later at the hospital and 7 c. dilated however, we
never dilated more. It was then with contractions 2 minutes apart that
they told me that I was in back labor and this was why is was more painful
that usual for women in labor. Like that mattered! We ended up bringing
Paul out C-section at 12:23 p.m. He was 9 days late... so why
they thought it was false labor is beyond me but everything went well
and we arrived home three days later.

Nursing is going well but we have to supplement bottles right now and
are lucky to be able to go home at lunch and continue to nurse throughout
the night. So yes, to answer your next question, he is not sleeping
through the night, yet.

The holidays were very hectic and Paul contracted bronchilitis the
30th of December and we had to hospitilize him January 2nd for a week.
It was a trying time for both of us as he had tubes and monitors every-
where and lived in an oxygen tank/crib. Mom was able to stay with him
24hrs/day but only one parent which was upsetting to Dad. Mom sometimes
lived in the crib too, just to keep the little bugger happy. However,
we all have a case of emptiness. It is so hard coming back to work as
you all can understand the love between a child and their parents. I never
knew it would be this hard to leave him.

    Born 12/30/93
    8 lbs, 12 oz, 20 inches long
Straight brown hair (born with lots of it), still baby-blue eyes.

As some of you know, my first, Johnathan, was born by C-section after
a long and difficult labor, and he weighed in at 7 lbs, 4 oz. So,
although I was hoping to avoid a C-section this time, I was kind of
resigned to another C-section. But Jennifer had other ideas. Labor
started at 3:00 pm, we left for the hospital at 4:00, arrived at
4:30, and she was born at 5:15. Labor was slightly less painful
    this time (Johnathan had been in a transverse breech position;
Jennifer was in the "right" position), and the delivery was, relatively
speaking, a breeze. So to all women hoping to VBAC, there is hope!

    A short introduction to....

Lara Elizabeth Makrianis came to us on March 1 at 7:59 am. Her stats
were 8 pounds 8 ounces and 21 inches long. She looked like a prize
fighter at the end of 10 rounds due to the fast birth (3 1/2 hours
total labor) and had a lot of merconium-fluid in her lungs, but she's
a very healthy little girl. She's now 14 weeks old (today) and at 12
weeks she weighed 12 pounds and was 24 inches long. Big sister Anna
just loves her to death and has shown hardly any jealously at all.
She was so anxious about taking baby sister to daycare today that she
was up at 5:45 (she's been sleeping till 9:00 while Mom's been home).
Lara's an absolute joy!!! She's such a happy baby. She laughs when we
sing to her or when we change her diaper. She rolled from back to front
on Sunday...boy do I miss being home with her.

I had my first contraction at 1:15 a.m., and since he was born within
12 hours, I didn't think that was too bad. Coming home only one day
    later wasn't too bad either.

We are all adjusting. I'll be back at work (I hope...) on October 4.
Till then, I may read once in a while, but noting isn't exactly a
priority these days. I do miss you all, though.

I'm so glad that I did see the message about Monica. I was wondering
    about her.

Ok, I'm a little late with this but....

Our son, Kyle Alfred Poirier was born February 24,
weighed 7lbs 1oz, 19 1/2". (boy, was he really that
	small once?)

Kyle has done just great from day one! After 4 hours of labor,
20 mins of pushing, we had to do an emergency c-section due to
the cord around his neck. He immediatly had to be put on
antibotics for possible strep-b infection (which turned out
to be negative). Kyle's 5 months old now, we've been so fortunate
that he's been so happy and healthy! He's such a joy, I can't
	even remember life before him.

I've been back to work now for 2 weeks after spending almost
5 wonderful months at home with Kyle. I wish it could have been
	longer....

I have been a read-only noter since 1987 when my first child,
William-John was born. On July 22, my second child, a daughter, Elaina
Kristine Hughes-Crockett made her appearance into the world. She was
two weeks early at 6 pounds and 5 oz. She is so very precious to us
and we are so blessed that she is healthy.

Unfortunately, I was also notified that after almost 11 years of
service with DEC, I will be TSFO'd in mid September after my
disability. This notesfile has been so very valuable to me over the
years and it will be one of the things that I will truly miss. Take
care and good luck to all.

    Hello fellow parents,

I just started reading the parenting notes this week and would like to
announce the birth of my first baby:

    Corey Patrick Umbrello (CPU....not intentional!)
    Born: April 5, 1994 at 11:00 pm
    8 lbs. 3 oz
    20"

Corey was born with LOTS of dark hair which is now turning lighter and
has brown eyes. He was 2 days early, which Mom really appreciated!!
    8-)

Corey was born 5 hours after my water broke (at home, phew!). I had
back labor at the beginning which was fairly painful, but they sat me
in the shower (which was right in the delivery room) and my fiance'
massaged my back with hot water. I was able to relax through my
contractions and 45 minutes later I was ready to deliver.

Corey is now 4+ months old and is a JOY to have around. This is my
fourth week back to work and I miss him everyday!! 8-(

I am happy to have found this notesfile and will be reading through
    them when I can.

    Cheers!

Katerina Monique von Campe was born this morning, September 4, 1994 at 10:40.
She weighed 7lbs, 9 ounces and was 21 inches long. Mother and baby are doing
fine, after a long, painful, and arduos labor. Everybody involved (including
dad) is very tired (I haven't slept in 36 hours straight, and only slept four
hours the previous night). Oh yeah, Katerina was 3.5 weeks early, so it was
a bit of a surprise when Kristen's water broke at 4:40am on Saturday.

John Ray Wikoff (named after Daddy and Grand-daddy)
	born June 9, 1994 at 9:30 am, 8 lb 15 oz, 21" long

... after 9 hours of labor, after having company that night (not due
till next week...) and my water breaking around 12:30 when we went to bed
(Oh no! we haven't slept!!!). It's amazing how fast a second (etc.) child
can come!

Not only is he adorable (of course! best giggle!!), at four months he's
almost as big as his sister, Rachel Joy, who will be two for Thanksgiving!
In fact, today they were both wearing 18 month size clothes. She's always
been a peanut, and he'll be tall like his daddy. She's pretty gentle with
him and makes him laugh. She's also learning to talk and tells admirers
"Mommie's baby!".

Now that we have a girl and a boy, how come people keep asking me if we're done?

Now if I'd only go to bed around 8:00 once in a while!
More fun all the time,
Tanya

In fact, after the Dr. broke my water he told the nurse to check me in

checked - and hollered at someone to get the Dr. - NOW! He'd hardly g
gotten out of the room. No drugs at all this time (happened too fast!)

the adoption of Evan Nicholas duBois and Justin Alexander duBois

by their parents Carol Anne and Michele Juliana duBois

in Middlesex County, Commonwealth of Massachusetts

on Friday, the ninth of June, nineteen hundred and ninety five

We are finally, both, legally recognized parents of both of our children. :-)

What this means, in part:

If one of the children were to die, we would both be allowed to take time
off work to attend the funeral, no matter what company we work for.
(Digital does not currently have a policy to permit this, for instance.)

Each of us can put both children on our insurance, no matter what
      company we work for.

If one of us were to die, BOTH children would receive Social Security.

No problems with wills and rights of inheritance - not with us to them,
and not for either of them to his brother or to his brother's children
      some day.

No extra legal documents, such as those giving us the right to order our
      child's medical treatment.

No worries about one of the children being taken from one of us after the
death of the other parent. (For instance, Shellie's 14th cousin who had
never met Justin would have more rights to him that I would have had, if
Shellie had died. This is no longer a concern.)

Hooray!!

and her birth sister Shoshana Rivka Sacks, born 14-Mar-1994. The adoption
became official on October 13 when the Supreme Court of Moldova granted
our appeal of a lower court decision that had rejected our petition. We
arrived in the U.S. on October 27.

I'd have put this in weeks ago, but Jake has been keeping Mommy, Daddy,
Nana (who lives with us) and his big brother Joe (7 yrs) pretty busy.
Jake, as wonderful as he is, also has some colic problems and a milk
sensitivity. We've gone through a couple of formula changes to
accomodate him, and plenty of late nights. But after initially losing
almost 10 ozs., Jake has now, at 8 weeks, outgrown all of his newborn
items and is solidly into 3 mos. sizes. He's cute as can be, and looks
like someone different every day. He has his dad & brother's
gorgeous blue eyes and will be a complete pale-face with his mom's
    "fish-belly-white" skin!

It's definitely interesting starting all over after 7 years, but all of
the stress and strain of doing homework police duty and diaper service
at the same time is well worth it!

My husband and I are pleased to announce the birth of our beautiful

    Kathleen Olivia Lyons
    August 2, 1995
    12:20 p.m.
    7lbs. 7 ozs.
    19.5"

She's beatuiful! She has strawberry-blonde hair and big blue eyes and
just keeps growing by leaps and bounds.

Labor was fairly easy and she's been a little angel ever since. She
truley is a good baby. People have commented on her good nature. Mom
and Dad are really lucky. And at 3 months old she's already made a
trip cross-country and back! Boy, to see the faces of the people that
were going to their seats near us on the plane (rolling their eyes with
disgust that "they" got stuck sitting next to a baby) and then to hear
them praise her ("I didn't hear a peep out of her ")when we landed, was
    kind of funny.

Well, as you can probably tell, this is our first child and Mom and Dad
are beaming. I love being a mom! The hardest thing I ever had to do was
come back to work last week. I can't believe how much my life has
changed, but there are no complaints here (except for having to leave her
to go to work). She really is a little miracle that only her dad and I
    could have created.

Hold on tight to those little miracles you've created for they grow so
    quickly!

I just came back from a 3 month maternity leave and am a
"read only" noter but thought I'd put in news too. Cameron
Joseph Wenzel was born on September 10 ( I know I'm a bit late)
at 9:48 pm after 48 hours of labor and an emergency c-section.
He was 7lb4oz and 20 1/4" long. He was born with a 30%
pneumothorax in his lung (collapsed lung) and was taken to
Children's Hospital (Boston) from Framingham, MA right after
birth (very traumatic for everyone!!!!!!!!). Bottom line
we are all completely fine now and Cameron healed himself and
will have no residual effects. And let me tell you he has
100% lung capacity now when he wants something!!! Anyway
I'm back at work now and was wondering if anyone has ever
heard of a pneumothorax in a newborn. My ob/gyn has never
seen it and noone knows what caused it. I thought for sure it
was the stress of a long labor but the pediatrician and the
ob/gyn insist not. That's my story. You can contact me offline
if you have a similar story to share. I'd be really interested.

    Regards,
    Susan (Cameron's Mom)

daycare. We're both adjusting pretty well, but I still can't wait to get

Jeffrey and I are thrilled to announce the adoption of...

Brandon Alexander Gray Snover
Born January 30, 1996, 8:35 pm
6lbs 2oz, 20 3/4"

We took him home from the hospital on February 1st, although for the first
three weeks "home" was a rented house in York, Maine, while we waited for
the legal processes that lead to Interstate Compact clearance to be
completed.

I'm taking a leave of absence until July, and although I've only been a
read-only participant in this conference so far, I've found it most
helpful.

There were times when I thought we'd never get to the end of our long
journey to parenthood, but here we are! He is gorgeous (of course!) and I'm
tired but enthralled with the newest member of our family. The three cats
don't quite know what to make of Brandon (not cat, doesn't appear to be
human, but can make a heck of a noise!).

    Announcing (better late than never)

    Patrick James Hill
    born December 26, 1995 - 5 lb., 6 oz. at 32 weeks!!

I'm just back to work, but I wanted to annouce my latest (and last,
I hope) angel. I was out of work for premature labor at 25 weeks. I
was hospitalized several times between 25 and 31 weeks, when my
membranes finally rupturedthe Wednesday before Christmas. After just
praying for a healthy child, I wished NOT for a Christmas baby.
    I got both wishes!

My family has been blessed. I have 3 wonderful boys, all born
premature	Andrew, 35 weeks, now 4.5
Kevin, 27 weeks, now 2, and
Patrick, 32 weeks, now 2.5 months

So, please feel free to write if you have questions about premature
birth. I'm an expert and would share all my stories in the hopes of
helping anyone. I wouldn't recommend a first time, (apparently)
no-risk Mom calling me up though!!!!! I might scare them!!

...and if there are extra boys clothes taking up space, PLEASE call me!

Announcing the arrival of a son!

Thomas Lamar McCartney
Born 11/23/96 at 10:03pm
Weight 7 lbs
Height 20 1/2"

Mom and Dad had planned a last night out before the baby was born, leaving the
older kids with a baby sitter. The plan was to have a nice dinner and start
some Christmas shopping since the doctor had said it would be another week
or two before the baby came.

Well, Thomas decided to surprise everyone! I went into labor around 6:00. Of
course, since the doctor had told me only 4 days prior to expect another week
or two, I assumed it was false labor. By 7:30 and no let up, we figured out
this was for real and called the doctor.

By then, contractions were still about 7 minutes apart so I decided we should
go ahead and shop for big sister presents before going to the hospital. After
all, labor with the second had been 9 hours so we still had a while.

After stopping by Toy 'R Us, we got to the hospital at 8:53 and things never
let up from there. 1 hour and 10 minutes later after pushing 4 or 5 times we
had a beautiful baby boy! Total labor was only 4 hours.
