Shining Time Station (Thomas the Tank Engine has segments on this show)
George Carlin also plays "Mr. Conductor", I think Ringo used to be the
old "Mr. Conductor"..but we don't want this show much. Hope this
    helps.

"Shining Time Station" on PBS used to have Ringo Starr as Mr. Conductor. That
character is now played by George Carlin. (I'm not sure, but they may have
made a smooth transition, with the "new" Mr. Conductor being a cousin or
something of the "old" Mr. Conductor, so perhaps it's not the exact same
character, if you want get picky...) Reruns with Ringo Starr show
occasionally, and he is on a number of the videos.

I've heard where they're rerecording old shows to have Carlin, not Ringo
as the narrator.

I like Ringo better. I somehow have problems with Carlin as the host of
a kiddie show that my toddler likes. His usual stand-up act doesn't jive with
this... (Actually, Jamie likes the videos, which just have the narration, not
any "Mr Conductor" plus other actors...)

They have, I've heard some of them. The inflections are changed, and in some
cases the words are changed from British colloquial to American colloquial.
It's really jarring, if you remember the old one.

My daughter is so scared of Shining Time Station that she won't watch
PBS *at all.* Wonder how Mr. COnductor would handle this.

    Hi,

I guess we have something in common! My 5 year old used to be in
daycare until about 1 1/2 years ago. They had no television set at
all. Erin is still afraid of many of the animated tv shows including
Shining Time. Guess, the visuals are just to much for her to handle.
The only show she will watch is a show on Nickelodeon sp? called Rug
Rats! Oh, and she loves, I Love Lucy!

I really like the fact that she can relate to the comedy. Alot of the
oldtime shows Betwitched, etc. entertain kids without violence, sex, etc.

She did have one question when she first started watching the show,
"Did everyone smoke cigarettes when you were young Mom"
