11.0. "Your kids" by TCC::HEFFEL (Cogito ergo spud - I think therefore I yam.) Thu Apr 09 1992 17:27

OK, you know you want to do it. You'd love a chance to do some
unbridled bragging about your kids.

	Have at it!

Kayla has the most beautiful crystal blue eyes just like her Daddy and
she is an absolute charmer. Slept right through the night from the get

Well, I see I didn't get .1 in this topic :-)

Lisa Nicole, not to be confused with her mother Lisa, will be 10 in a few weeks.
With the exception of her hair color, she looks just like her mother. I think
she is hitting the teens a few years early...I didn't think their brains turned
to mush ("I didn't even TOUCH your calculator, Mom", "Then why is it in your
bedroom?", "Oh, I borrowed it yesterday") until the teens.

Nicole seems to be in the twilight just before she really discovers boys.
"Max likes me, but I don't know if I REALLY like him." "He wants to hold my
hand ALL the time." "I'd rather play football with the boys." "Why is that?"
"Because all the girls do is stand around and talk about the boys."

Even with all the challenges of raising her, the hugs and "I love you"'s make
it all worthwhile!

Daniel is four and a half months old. He has blue eyes. He has
being sleeping all night since he was three weeks old. A right
little charmer, he seems to know the right times to smile and giggle.
Everyone he meets adores him. No teeth yet, he has being teething
for the past five weeks. He is a wonderful little boy.

11.4Anna Sophia MakrianisWONDER::MAKRIANISPattyThu Apr 16 1992 13:5124

Anna Sophia, what can I say. She is the light of our life. We have been
blessed with a wonderful little girl. She's been a great baby and I
    hope it continues.

Anna was born May 3, 1991. She's been a strong little girl since the
day she was born. When they laid her on my stomache she lifted her head
towards my voice. She just took her first steps the other day so now
the fun begins. Anna is a very determined, strong-willed little girl.
She likes to figure out how things work and gets very frustrated when
she can't. What more would one expect from a child of 2 engineers.

Now I know this may sound prejudiced, but Anna is a beautiful little
girl. Both myself and her daycare provider get stopped constantly and
are told that we should enter her in contests, or that she should be
the Gerber baby. You see, Anna has dark chocolate brown eyes the size
of quarters. It's the first thing you notice on her. I have yet to
introduce her to someone and not have them comment on her eyes. When I
carry her around I can hear people as I pass them commenting on her
eyes and how beautiful she is. So yes, I think she's beautiful and I
love to brag about it. I may even enter her in the J&J Baby of the
    Century contest.

11.5James and Hollis Nelson, the Dynamic DuoICS::NELSONKThu Apr 16 1992 18:0633
The Nelson kids are two of the dearest children ever!

James Tucker (Tucker is his grandma Nelson's maiden name) just
turned 4 on March 26. He is 37 inches tall and 30 lbs. At the
short and skinny end of the range, but he more than makes up for
it in brain power. He is reading everything he can get his hands
on. His real passion, however, is golf. It would be funny if
he didn't have such a graceful swing. He has beautiful hazel-brown
eyes with long, thick black lashes, and a sweet smile. He's
talkative, charming, and strong-willed. He loves his daddy, his
cat, his stuffed animals, and his "horse blanket" (a crib quilt
with rocking horses printed on it). Can't stand vegetables of any
description, although he has eaten broccoli and corn on occasion.
His latest thing is putting his arms around me (wherever he can
reach!) and saying, "I wuv you, Mummy."

Hollis Maclean (Maclean is Great-Great-Grandmother Nelson's maiden name)
was born on June 24, the 100th anniversary of my mother's mother's
birth. So she is almost 10 months old. Hollis at her 9-month
checkup was 29.5 inches long and 21 lbs. 10 oz. She is a ruggedly
built little miss! She loves anything on the end of a spoon, except
strained beets. She can stand alone (until she realizes she's doing
it), wants so badly to walk it isn't even funny, and loves to stack
things up and take them apart again. She has soft dolls that she
coos to and plays with. She'll play happily in her playpen for
close to an hour...but what she really wants at the end of the day
is for her daddy to hold her and walk all over the house with her.
    She idolizes her brother.

I honestly never thought I would be blessed with two such well-
    behaved, healthy, beautiful children.

11.6RICKS::BARRDictionery for sail, never usedThu Apr 16 1992 19:0219
Shane Louis Andujar - Born 27 July 1990. It's hard to believe that
he's nearly 21 months old all ready. He's a great baby and an absolute
joy to be around. With his big blue eyes and long eye lashes and his
curly light brown hair, he melts a lot of hearts. He's very bright and
understands everything you say to him. His father being hispanic has
also made him bi-lingual as he understands quite a few Spanish words
    and phrases too.

I love bringing him with me everywhere I go as he has such a great
personality and is so good natured that he makes everyone around him
    smile.

He loves to watch T.V. and Sesame Street is his favorite show and Ernie
is his favorite character. He calls everyone on Sesame Street
    "oo-nee". :-)

    I hope he never changes!

11.7Curls and Lashes You'd Kill ForYOSMTE::TOWERS_MIFri Apr 17 1992 23:4417
John Louis is almost 20 months now and has been really changing these
past few months. He is a charmer and has eyelashes and curls that any
girl would kill for, plus big brown eyes. He loves to giggle, except
when he does not get his way at which point he makes a big lip, rubs
his eyes and winds up for a big "Wha-a-a-a-a-". Funny though how he
stops suddenly if he gets what he wants.

He has this cute habit of coming over to us, pulling on our clothes to
follow him, sits on his beanbag chair then pats the area next to him
for us to sit down. He then gets a toy or book for us to play with.
He is so used to seeing Grandpa in a recliner that if Grandpa gets up
and goes somewhere for too long, John goes to get him, brings him back
to the livingroom and pushes him back into the recliner.

They do the funniest things sometimes.

11.8Michael JohnEMDS::CUNNINGHAMTue Apr 21 1992 11:5623

Michael John is 6 mos old, born Oct 17, 1991. He is really starting to
become his own little person these days, and I am enjoying every minute
of it. He was born 2 wks early at 6 lbs, 14oz and is now at the top of
the charts in height and weight. He's long and lean, with dark hazel
eyes. Everyone comments on his long thick eyelashes and his
(now-turning) honey colored hair. People have told me he'd have made a
pretty *girl*. He's had a full head of hair since he was born, and
has already had his first haircut at 5 mos old. 2 inches off the back!
(if it was curly, I wouldn't have done it though!) He's a happy little guy,
who loves to JUMP, be it your lap, or his Jolly Jumper. Think he's got
    springs in those toes!

He is my first child, and I have never been happier (unless I could
afford to stay home) than I am as a Mom. He is the light of my life.
This stage in his life (5-6 mos) has been SO MUCH fun, watching him
learn to sit, get up on all 4's and rock, baby talk, laugh, play,
all of it, its SO MUCH FUN! And its even better because he's not
really mobile yet, so I have time to toughen up my nerves for when I
have to follow him around and childproof the house.

He's growing SO FAST! I wish I could freeze him at this moment in time
for just a few more months to savor it all.
11.9Gina Rose Blachek PaolilloPROSE::BLACHEKTue Apr 21 1992 15:1521
What can I say about my nearly perfect daughter???

She is a very cute toddler. She has curly blondish hair that goes
below her shoulders. Wherever we go people comment on it. She has big
blue eyes with long lashes. She is petite--she weighs about 25 pounds
and is about 32-1/2 inches tall, and will be two on May 16. She is one
of those weird kids who actually wears her age size...she fits into 24
    month clothes right now.

She has a large vocabulary, can count to 15, knows the alphabet and
can tell you her full name and that she lives in Nashua, New Hampshire.
(Most of my relatives cannot pronounce her last name...)

Right now she is in a severe "Gina Do It" stage, so I'm learning
    patience all over again.

This weekend we picked up the trash littered on our property and she
cheered madly when I managed to get a vodka bottle from under a 30-year
old juniper. She's bringing new joy to my life, in so many ways.

    My children......

Alicia Marie (4 yrs old). Her nick name is "boo". Alicia is a my "big
baby". She is petite compared to some of her friends but I have noticed
she is starting to catch up. She has long blonde hair, big brown eyes and
a very pleasant personality. My friends tell me I should get her into
modeling. Alicia is a wonderful big sister.

Jessica Anne (5 1/2 mos). Jessie is my "little baby". She is bigger then
Alicia was but otherwise they look identical. I have had to label her
pictures so I don't confuse them. Jessie is at a very fun stage of
childhood. She is always happy and smiling. I can put her down and she
won't go TOO far and best of all, she will fall asleep in my arms. I
just love cuddling her. Alicia has outgrown being cuddled for any
extended period of time. My family has been trying to nick name Jessie
"porky" but I am fighting this one. At her age she is above the
standard weight. (She is currently going out of size 12 mo and getting
    into 18 mo).

I am really looking forward to this summer when Alicia and Jessica get
to go outside and play in the yard and in the pool.

11.11Chelsea Hanna CohenLJOHUB::COHENWed Apr 22 1992 14:3616
Now that I've introduced myself, I HAVE TO :) introduce Chelsea Hanna
Cohen, born March 4, 1990, so she is now just over two years
old....just ask her! She is 35 inches tall, 27/28 pounds, blonde-ish
hair and very fair skin. A beauty, but I'm totally objective, of
course :) She will soon (we're due July 10) be a big sister to a baby
brother; will tell you Mommy has a baby in her tummy, but truly has no
clue what this will mean to her life. I get very sad sometimes
thinking about how this will affect her, but I also feel she will enjoy
the baby, be very affectionate, and a good helper to mom. She is very,
very verbal ("talk to me mom" is one of her favorite sayings...),
unbelievably bright, and to use a cliche, the light of our lives.
Although she drives me crazy sometimes, life without her is absolutely
unimaginable. Her sweet kisses and cheek-hugs melt me in places in my
soul that I didn't know existed...

Enough before I mist up just thinking about how much I love her...

My 2 year old daughter, Sumati, is mostly with me when I watch CBS world news
in evening. In last month or two, she has picked up three words very strongly
from the news. This is true and not a joke ! Three words are :

                     BUSH, JOBS and JAPANESE

I guess, this summaries the state of the union very well.

11.15sorry, but...GOOEY::ROLLMANThu Apr 23 1992 19:1014

All your kids sound wonderful, but I'm sorry - *Elise* is the most perfect
child ever born. 17 month old in a couple days, she recently figured out that
words work better than "point and scream". Amazing how much they understand.

I've heard that colicky babies become exceptional toddlers; I guess it's
payment in advance. This has been true for Elise. Almost no temper tantrums,
sleeps like an angel, eats almost anything we give her, and loves to give
hugs and kisses.

Perhaps the second payment comes due when they're teen-agers....

    Look-out, a chance to brag!

Thomas Killian will be 5 months tomorrow. He daycare provide just
called to tell me he crawled! I've been watching him for weeks push
up, bend his knees, but his bottom up and rock back and forth, but he
didn't crawl. I'm upset that I missed it so I'll probably spend all
tonight watching him. Its so great when they learning something new.
Last week making "razzberries" and spitting was the big thing!

I'm so proud of him. All your kids sound terrific, but sorry, *Thomas*
    is it!

Crawling, I guess now the trouble is just beginning!

11.17Alexa NicoleCARTUN::DUPLAKThu Apr 23 1992 20:5228
Hello, my name is Deanna. I'm an occassional notes reader but couldn't resist
getting involved in this one. My husband and I have a beautiful 16 month old
daughter named Alexa Nicole. She is the joy of our lives.

Alexa was born with a full head of black hair which continued to grow and,
at some point in time, turned completely blonde! She has beautiful blue eyes
and fair skin. She's got her mothers skin, eyes and hair color and her
father's overall facial features.

The first three to four months were quite trying. We must have rocked and
walked Alexa at least a hundred miles (every floor board in our home now
creaks). In desparation, we read all our books on colic and crying and learned
that we had a 'high needs' baby. A term used that falls between extremes of
colic and passive/content (and an optional and more positive term to use in
place of 'fussy'). Into the fourth month, it all dissappeared.

Alexa is now the most intelligent, articulate, allert, active, sociable, funny,
independent, beautiful 16 month old girl with a most pleasing disposition.
She surprises us every day with her vocabulary and memory. One day, about two
months ago, she had given me something to which I replied "thank you". She
walked away and quite matter of factly said, "your welcome". I couldn't
believe my ears, my baby is beginning to converse with me!

Just like labor, it is all worth it!

She is very articulate so it still makes us chuckle every time she says,

		"Peek-Ga-Goo".
11.18Michael Henry ResendeSCAACT::RESENDEPerot is onto something ....Fri May 01 1992 04:0533
Michael is, well, just about the cutest, handsomest, most charming, ...
OK, so I'm biased a little!

He just turned two in January. He's talking quite well now and comes out
with things that make us bite our tongues to keep from laughing our heads
off and hurting his feelings. He chatters constantly, and Pat and I have a
tough time carrying on a conversation till he's in bed. His most favorite
activity right now is going outside, for any reason. We got him a swing
set last summer, and he just loves to swing and go down the slide. But his
real love is the park across the street. At least a couple of mornings a
week Pat walks him over there, and he just has a ball playing with the
other kids.

We've noticed a change in his socialization over the past couple of months.
In the past, he's tended to prefer children his own age or younger,
especially girls. Recently, he's started following the older boys around
at the park, and trying to do everything they do. He ignores his little
girlfriends that he liked so much just a few weeks ago ... guess he's just
fickle!

We've tried potty training, but after a few weeks of wanting to sit on the
potty ALL THE TIME, he now has no use whatsoever for it. No interest. So
we've backed off for a while, and plan to try again in a couple of months.

This conference has been a godsend for us. As first-time parents, there
were so many things we weren't sure about. A peditrician's advice is
certainly valuable, but there's nothing like having access to the real-life
experiences of all the PARENTING noters. You've answered our dumb
questions, quelled our ridiculous fears, and provided more information than
we ever dreamed would be available! What a wonderful resource we have
here!

    Well it's my turn.

With all these great kids it's hard to make mine sound
wonderful...NOT!!! I said that word because Aliya has mastered the use
of it (at 22 months) thanks top her teenage aunt. Aliya was born with
a lot of black hair and beautiful blue eyes. We were happy that from
the start she would sleep through the night...sometimes all the way to
7:00 (wow ;*) ). She was a walker at 8 mos. and is really starting to
get a vocabulary. Thanks to her papa she has mastered a few
unmentionable words that were voiced during sporting events but we
think we have a handle on them.

I hope to brag some more about Aliya, and in November I'll brag about
    the new one.

My son Shayne is now 2.5 years old. As I stated in my introduction he
is the light of my life. He has taught me more in the last 2.5 years
than I had learned in the 28 years before his birth.

Shayne was born premature, 2 hours after his birth we were told he was
born with Down Syndrome and a heart defect. At 5 months old he was
diagnosed with Insulin Dependent Diabetes, he had his first surgery to
put tubes in his ears at 10 months old and then at 14 months old was
diagnosed with an underactive thyroid. This past November he started
having seizures and a couple of weeks ago the EEG did show seizure
    activity.

Through all of this Shayne has been the one to keep me going, he ALWAYS
has a smile on his face (except for the occasional screams through
the various testing) and has the most positive attitude I've ever come
    across for a kid.

My daughter Rebecca is the most perfect little girl! She is 13 months,
and has a wonderful personality. She loves to play ball, and laughs at
anything. She is into hitting now a days, and I am trying to teach her
to be nice and not to hit, but all I get is this beautiful face in mine
and a big "HI"!!!!! I love her dearly!!!!! She is yet to walk on her
own! She will walk with one finger but won't let go. I am looking
forward to those first steps! She was a wonderful baby, never had any
problems with anything, except her ears. She is getting better though.
I hate to see her getting so big. I feel very luck to have her! She
has brown hair (getting very dark like her daddys though) and big
    quarter size BLUE, BLUE EYES!

I could go on and on!!!!!!!!

OK, announcing the perfectest kid in the file 8^{)!

Our daughter Melissa is now almost 2 (June 1st). She was born 5 weeks pre-
mature and spent a week in the special care nursery at Newton-Wellesley. She
has long since caught up in size and progress with most of the kids around her.

We have been raising Melissa bilingually. My wife (and everyone else) speaks
to her in English, and I speak to her only in German. My mother-in-lay
occasionally reinforces the German with Yiddish (close enough for comprehension).

Melissa really likes singing and music and will try to join in with many of the
songs on a few tapes that I play to death in the car. She also has several
favorite videos including a couple of Babars and 101 Dalmations. But best of
all, from my point of view, is reading time. Some of the favorites are "Hop
On Pop", the various "Max" books and "Die Geschichte von Babar".

Melissa is also the preeminant swinger in the neighborhood. At the playground
she will swing longer than most kids would even stay there. Sliding is OK
but swinging is clearly where it's at.

I was going to write that I have the best kids in the world, but my
youngest, entered the terrible two's yesterday.

Mary - Age 10 A very independant 4th grader. She does her whole
morning routine by herself. Makes breakfast for herself, lunch for
school, gets up with her own alarm clock and can usually find clothes
to wear on her own (She draws the line at walking "all the way
downstairs" to check the dryer for socks).

Jennifer - Age 8 Social butterfly. Also independent. I need to help
her only for the last 5 minutes before the school bus comes (pick out
the snack for lunch, or pour a thermos of milk, etc.).

Rachel - Age 5 Shows signs of becoming independent someday. It takes
all of my willpower to keep from dressing her in the morning. If I
bribe her though, and tell her she can go out to the school bus with
her older sisters, she is dressed in a shot.

All three girls are angels in my book.

    The there is:

John - Age 2 - VERY INDEPENDENT - If you don't watch him constantly you
never know what you'll find when you come around the corner. Last
night I was reviewing Mary's homework with her. I heard the fridge
open and went to check. Apparently this was John's second trip into
the fridge. He had decided he was hungry, took an apple out of the
fridge draw, ate half of it, then decided to put it away for another
day (back in the draw). He is also at the spitting stage, throw food
on floor when done stage, bang his glass to see if it will break stage,
turn cereal bowl over on head to wear as a hat...

Well you've all been through this too, right?

We have two boys, Alexander Jordan Schlickenmaier (4 years old this
September) and Noah Thomas Schlickenmaier (4 months old). I know, I
know, what a name to grow up with! But see you can make it easy...
Alex and Noah. Schlickenmaier will come along about first grade [if
they can even spell it then]. Alex was a stitch when he was 2 1/2 and
going to day care. He informed everyone that he was Alex
"Gickenmaier." It really was hard not to laugh...

Alex loves "his" Baby Noah. He's been "Baby Noah" since conception...
I'm glad he did indeed turn out to be a boy. Not too hard to predict
though, the Schlickenmaiers' have one produced one girl in more than
100 years! My Mom is very disappointed!

Both boys are blond hair, blue eye, fair skin types just like Dad and
me (what a surprise). Baby Noah looks like he may be a strawberry
blonde or even a slight red head. It's hard to tell with his peach
    fuzz so far.

Baby Noah is a LARGE baby. He was 9 lbs 6 oz and 22 inches at birth.
At 4 months he is now 18 lbs 6 oz and 26 3/4 inches. The doctor
predicts that he will be 6 ft 5 in or taller. He is a real charmer
though... the day care staff says he is serious. I say he is content.
He has slept through the night since I started feeding him cereal at 4
weeks. He now eats baby fruits and veggies and just started gumming
graham crackers yesterday. He hasn't mastered the fact that mouths are
for eating and not totally filling yet. What fun, fishing out graham
    cracker mush with your fingers!

Big brother Alex is almost 4 years old, 42 pounds and 41 inches tall.
Everyone thinks he is 6 years old. He has always looked older than his
actual age. He is a very bright, very busy little boy. He could
unlock desks and file cabinets, etc. with keys before he could stand on
his own. Sometimes he is too bright for his own good.

Both boys are my pride and joy!

    Considering a third...

I just realized that I never introduced my kids in this version of
Parenting. I have two daughters, Caileigh and Paige.

Caileigh Ryan is 5 1/2 and just started kindergarten. She is very pretty
and dainty with long, light brown hair and her Dad's sparkling brown
eyes. Caileigh is very bright and talented with a beautiful smile.
She loves dancing (this is her third year), reading, drawing and
swimming. Oh, yes, and fighting with her sister. Caileigh is also
hearing impaired, which adds some extra challenge to life for her and
for us.

Paige Halsey is 3 1/2 and in preschool. She is also very pretty, but
different than Caileigh--more of a Gerber kid with blond hair and big
blue eyes. She, too, is very bright, but with a shorter attention
span and a shorter fuse (she got my Irish temper). Paige loves being
read to (often by Caileigh, which is a life saver), playing dress-up,
and anything to do with trains or Minnie Mouse. And she holds her own
in any battles with Caileigh.

All in all, they're great kids!

Well, it's hard to capture the "essence" of your children in one short
    note, but I will try!

Our first, PARIS AIMEE NIGHTINGALE, was born Good Friday the April 13th,
1990. She was an emergency c-section because of "failure to progress".
She's a healthy, happy, big girl - now 2.5 years old.She looks very
much like me. She likes books, TV (yes, TV :^( ) and "'tending to
    cook".

Our second, EVAN STEWART NIGHTINGALE, was born June 25, 1992. He was
a successful VBAC. He has red hair (inherited from my mother in law)
and looks very much like my husband. He wants so much to be able to
play with his big sister now and delights in watching her. As the
second child, he has very much had to "fit in" to the family, instead
of running the show like his sister did (does?).
Unfortunately Evan spent his half-birthday on Christmas day and the
subsequent 3 days in the Children's Hospital with Croup.

    More later.

11.30Stork repellent on chimney now!NEWPRT::WAHL_ROWed Jun 23 1993 01:3821

I've been talking about these three for years......here's a formal intro:

Sean Patrick - Eight going on sixty, my Thursday's child, looks
like me, clone of his dad. Has yet to take a step without knowing
        *ALL* the ramifications!

Elisabeth Kathleen (Lisa) - Just turned three, Friday's child,
looks like dad, acts like me. Her father will probably die of
a coronary over her antics before she turns 4.

	Casey Christopher - 10 months - Saturday's child,
Uh, we didn't order this guy. But we wouldn't send him back :-).
With this addition to our family we are now overflowing with
lots of love, diapers, noise, and whatever else comes to mind,
        except money and empty bedrooms!

The best three events that ever happened in Rochelle Wahl's life.......

My baby, John Charles (whom we call Johnny but Grandpa calls him Johnny
Chuck) is the joy of our lives. He is almost three months old and
developing very quickly. He loves to sit up, but still needs some
support and his head is a little wobbly. He loves to wiggle and
babble (favorite word: A-goo). He has a very mischievious smile
and he's the most adorable thing I have ever seen.

11.32How about grandkids?OFOS02::MAGUIRESat Oct 22 1994 06:5018
This is about my 'grand'daughter....and I can very easily do lots of
unbridled bragging about her....All parents love their children, but
wait till grandchildren come along....it's positively delightful.
....and without a lot of the work. You still worry, though. I never
thought that I would get *this* much enjoyment from this baby.

Olivia Mae was born on April 19, 1993. She weighed 10'1". Right now,
    she's 36" tall and about 27lbs. She's a glorious child, great little
personality, happy, well-adjusted, delightful little girl. Talks a
    blue-streak....putting 4 words together already.....i.e. 'more
chocolate chip cookie" (this just the other day).....speaks *very*
clearly, eats well, sleeps well.....*loves* her books, ("Nana, read
book"). She's just so cute when she starts with the "Nana".......I
take care of her 2 days a week, (I work 3rd shift) and love it.

    Enough for now, I guess......
