867.0. "Lotions for growing belly..." by STRATA::RDOZOIS (justice will prevail...) Tue Dec 20 1994 17:07

    I'm looking for inputs in regards to lotion for my growing
    belly....I understand that you can't avoid strech marks but
    lotion can keep your skin soft and it helps with itching...
    So if anyone can recommend a good lotion (there's just to
    many in the stores to choose from) I'd really appricate it..

    thanks in advance...

    renee,

    I used pure cocoa butter. You smell like a chocolate chip cookie, but
    it feels wonderful. The stuff I bought comes in solid bars which
    "melt" against your skin as you rub it over your tummy.

    Renee,

    I have very dry/sensitive skin and I find that Lubriderm
    (both morning and night) works very well.

    Also, "Dew-It" by Biolage is very nice.

867.3Cocoa Butter stick - it works!!SOLVIT::DUHAIMEWed Dec 21 1994 16:1113

    Renee,

    I also use a cocoa butter stick. {Keep in fridge when not in use}.
    I purchased it at The Body Shop at the Pheasant Lane mall in NH.
    It was pricey - about $10.00 for a 2 oz. stick but definitely worth
    it because it certainly relieves the itching.

    I also use Lubriderm on my arms and legs and it works okay.

    Good luck!

867.4eucerin ointmentSSPADE::BNELSONWed Dec 21 1994 18:078
I'm using Eucerin ointment on the parts that seem dry.

I use it with success on my hands in the winter also -- they are
prone to chapping and opening up.

My belly is growing faster this time than last -- 2 babies.

867.5Good ol' baby lotion worked for meAKOCOA::NELSONThu Dec 22 1994 17:339
    I used anything I could get my hands on -- usually baby lotion or
    Lubriderm. I also have had good luck with any of the Vaseline
    Intensive Care products.

    Remember to hydrate from the inside, too. These office buildings
    are terribly dry. It pays to drink plenty of water, whether you're
    pregnant or not.

    At the recommendation of my Dr. for dry skin, I've been using
    Moisturel. Though I'll warn you - it's Very expensive (I thought).
    About $8.00 for a pump bottle. But it works WONDERFULLY, and seems to
    stick with you a little better after a shower. The Vaseline ones that
    I've used in the past, as soon as you take a shower, I'm all dried out
    again. Eucerin is greasy - similar to Keri Lotion - so I prefer not to
    use that.

    **BUT** this is even better than the moisturizers ... if you're tired
    of dry skin, you HAVE to try this ... it's reasonably new to the
    market, and is called

    Jergen's Body Shampoo. I've only seen it come with a body sponge as
    well. It's $3.00-4.00, and is supposed to be enough for 50+ showers.
    You use it instead of soap. I've been using it for about a week, and
    the difference in my skin is dramatic. I still prefer to use a
    moisturizer, but if I forget, or don't have time, my skin doesn't feel
    all dried out and tight or itchy.

    And the sponge it comes with is wonderful too. There's a "rough" side,
    and a "soft" side, and it's just so Refreshing! With 3 kids, I can use
    all the refreshment I can get! (gawd, I feel like a walking
    commercial). Seriously, I don't usually recommend things like this,
    but to me, this is the best thing since pacifiers and VCRs!

867.7Lotion for Dry SkinBUSY::JLOBEFri Dec 30 1994 16:127
    I've found that Avon's Moisture Therapy Body Lotion for Extremely
    dry skill works excellent! I'm very active, and used to jog at
    lunchtime - this included taking a shower. I immediately noticed the
    difference in my skin after using the Avon. You can feel the water
    bead off your skin. The price is reasonable, ~$8.00 for 14 ounces

867.8Rich and Creamy baby oilAPSMME::PENDAKTue Jan 10 1995 14:1010
    I've been trying different baby oils on my skin to get an idea of what
    I want to use (if any) on my little one. My favorite by far is Baby
    Magic Rich and Creamy baby oil, it is at least as good if not better
    than my favorite skin cream, Curel. It seems like with most baby oils
    if I miss even one day my skin is all dry and terribly flaky, but with
    both of these products my skin doesn't dry out nearly as bad. Another
    thing that may help a lot throught the winter is a humidifier.
