16.0. "*other* types of nude things" by USAVAX::REDICK (body electric) Wed Feb 03 1988 02:09

what kinds of activities do you do nude besides
         bathing/sunbathing?

is it an everyday occurance or a special occasion?

16.1Everyday occuranceSSDEVO::YOUNGERCalm down, it's only 1's and 0'sWed Feb 03 1988 05:4317
I like to go nude around the house unless it is too cold. It's
far less constricting than even the loosest house coat.

I like to be nude when communing with my creator. I feel *so* much
closer to It in that state.

I almost always clean house nude. This has a very practical reason
for me - I can always manage to get *something* on me that stains
fabric. Before adopting this practice I routinely ruined things
while cleaning house. Now I just take a shower and voila - instant
    clean.

I prefer not to cook nude because of the possibility of getting
burned. Obviously, some cooking techniques are more dangerous than
    others in this way.

I like to exercise in the nude (it's usually in our house,
darn!), either stationary bicycle, working with free weights,
stretches, or free exercise. Clothes are too binding plus if I
keep seeing the subtle changes such as firming up it keeps me
    motivated.

I also enjoy eating, reading, drinking shots of tequila ... it's
looking like most anything I'll do in the nude. I love hiking in
the nude! Or at least topless...

It's usually an everyday occurance. Rarely do I take off my clothes,
take a shower and go directly to bed. I usually run around the
house for at least a few minutes (hum, maybe that's why the utility
bill has gone up...to keep it warm enough for naked bodies!). And I
would go outside that way if the neighbors wouldn't mind!

Our new house is far enough back in the woods to give us a fair
amount of privacy. So, last summer I assembled my daughter's swing
set and did a good bit of the staining on our house while nude. This
is an amazing feeling: to be able to take your natural at-home
    in-doors nudity out-of-doors.

16.4Volleyball and other activitiesVOLGA::MACKAYTue Feb 09 1988 15:2713
Coed volleyball is one of the most common activities on nude beaches.
This really allows people to meet each other. If a game is starting
up usually anyone is welcome to join in.

    Other activities that are great:
    Yoga and other meditation
    Partying !
    Frisbee
    Sandcastle contests

Anything that you can do on any other beach.

    Other activities in the nude...

We used to get together with a couple, at each others homes and
sit around playing card games or drink wine or shots of tequila,
eat dinner. While camping in the mountains (also in the nude)
we'd play hacky sack, hike, or mountain bicycle. Unfortunately
the relationship ended but luckily it wasn't the nudity that caused
    the friendship to end.

I also enjoy tequila in the nude, that way when I get to the
worm at the bottom of the bottle I can get sick and not have to
    worry about staining my clothes.

We used to have a nude softball game every August in Sarasota
Fla. but the "FANS" kind of put a stop to that. The police wondered
why there were 50 cars parked next to the field on a week night,
they soon found out but they let us go because the arresting officers
son was playing shortstop. It does pay to know someone...

    what is hacky sack?
16.8Hacky Sack descriptionGENRAL::KILGORECOME ON SPRING!Wed Mar 16 1988 17:2925
A hacky sack is a small ball approximately 1-1/2 to 2 inches in
diameter (usually made of leather) that is "juggled" between
players using only feet, legs, knees, elbows (in other words
no hands). Usually a circle is made of players and the side of
the foot is the most popular propellant (sp?) to "toss" the ball
between players. The object is to keep the ball off the ground
and in the air as much as possible and in a controlled manner.
Sometimes it seems that keeping it off the ground is impossible
    to do somedays!

The more players the better and the flatter the land you play on
is also best. We have played on cement driveways, on lawns, and
on rocky ground covered with cactus (which is real challenging
when playing nude, in case you fall).

My nephew had one to practice his soccer skills, (control, over-the-
shoulder kicks, etc.). There is a group of people at CXO that play
hacky sack during breaks and lunches on an outside patio, during warm
weather of course, and **unfortunately** with clothes on...

Hope I was able to describe this well enough. Hacky sacks are also
    known as "footbags".

16.9skinny skiingCNTROL::GEORGEThu Apr 14 1988 22:4714
I grew up on a lake. Late one night, some friends from high school and
I were drinking beers in the backyard. The lake was SOOOO smooth (no
other boats - a very rare occurance) we decided we HAD to take out the
ski boat.

Peer pressure solved the "I didn't bring my suit" problem, and we were
off amidst jokes about falling wrong and singing soprano.

WARNING: It is illegal to ski in the dark. It is also dumb -- it's
very-very hard to spot a downed skiier at dusk, much less at 2:00am.

We all had so much fun it became a semi-regular event. :-)

How about whitewater rafting. I spent 5 summers as a guide. Every
spring and fall we would do a "friends" trip for 1/2 price with
just friends and friends-of-friends. These would be 5-7 day trips.
I've gone a week wearing nothing but a hat, life jacket, tennies
    and sun-glasses.

It was always interesting to watch the group dynamics evolve. First
it would start with one or two people and then by the 2nd or third
day 95% of the people were also nude (except for the above mentioned
equipment). It was always a casual thing with never any atempts
at coercion or ridicule. It just sort of happened. Although i do
recall one trip on the Salmon in idaho when on the fisrt day a couple
got up in the front of my raft and said something to the effectof
: Ok you all let's show the rest of these people - they may not
like our style but they sure know who we are"
For the rest of the week my raft was know as the naked nine.

I could go on with dozens of stories of the nakeds meeting the
    non-nakeds.Most of them quite humorous.

and about three others. Never did get a chance to ask her what
        they meant.

RE:.11 and .12 "Merrimack Coed Naked Lacrosse"

I am a summer employee at DEC and a full time student at Merrimack
College in North Andover. Tee shirts with the slogan, "....... Coed
Naked Lacrosse" are currently being sold at many college bookstores
in the area. Many students have been trying to determine what exactly
the meaning of this slogan is. From what we have been able to gather,
it is simply a marketing scheme to sell tee shirts. I can vouch for our
"small little Catholic school" when I say we do not have a coed naked
lacrosse team. We're lucky we have coed dorms! :-)

FYI-If anybody wants a shirt (about $12) the college bookstore
is open 8 am -4pm Monday through Friday. It is located in
the basement of Gildea Hall on the Merrimack campus.

             The address is Merrimack College
                            Turnpike Rd.(route 125-114)

RE: < Note 16.4 by VOLGA::MACKAY >

>> Yoga and other meditation

I have been doing Transcendental Meditation regularly (twice a day most days)
since autumn 1969.  I usually put on clothes to do so for several reasons;
	a)	it is easy to get chilled while in deep relaxation for up to
half an hour.
	b)	if it is hot and I start to perspire while meditating I find
that sweat trickling down is profoundly disturbing.
	c)	I find flying insects profoundly disturbing and far more
attentive if meditating naked.

RE: 16.0

I do anything else naked if it is warm enough, if it is safe to do so (I too
don't fry sausages naked), and if there is no one there who would be offended
by it.

16.19Nude surf-fishing anyone?SUBWAY::SAPIENZAKnowledge applied is wisdom gained.Mon Aug 27 1990 15:0425

Well, here's another one to add to the list. While at the beach
yesterday I noticed a group of people approaching and two of them had
fishing poles with them. The group picked a spot and the two poles were
    planted into the sand.

A little while later, a flock (?) of seagulls gathered just
offshore, over what I assume must've been a school of feeding bluefish.
Well, the two folks with the fishing poles jumped up, grabbed the
poles, went wading into the ocean and starting casting their lines
toward the area where the seagulls were circling. Voila: Nude
    surf-fishing.

Now, when you think about it, this makes perfect sense. If you're at
all familiar with "traditional" surf-fishing, you generally get dressed
up in these plastic coveralls and only go into the water until it's
about hip high. But these two guys at the beach went in until the water
was up to their necks (I'm not kidding). This gives them a chance to
cast out a little further than your typical surf-fisherman.

       Unfortunately, they didn't catch anything.

16.2011SRUS::LUCIAAnxiously awaiting the choppers...Mon Aug 27 1990 15:3118
Being a devout fisherman, I've considered this option many times. Having had
hooks imbeded in my legs on occasion (and past the barb no less!), I can think
of a *VERY* good reason to wear shorts or a suit when surf casting. These
people were indeed fishing for bluefish. Bluefish are known to be voracious
feeders and when in a frenzy, behave much as sharks, biting anything they can
see. Wading upto my neck (or above my hips in particular) in a school of
frenzied bluefish could result in a major mishap. One thing bluefish love to
eat are sand eels. Need I say more? Much as I love to fish, if I do it, I
do it clothed. The exception would be for flounder and other bottom fish who
aren't likely to let go of a large plug with trebble hooks. This is how I've
gotten the hooks in my leg. A blue let go and the rod yanked the lure about
100 MPH right into my leg. Didn't have time to duck or move or anything.

(note the personal name: Bluefish are known as CHOPPERS as they chop up anything
They don't even eat it all, but kill for killings sake)

Every day around the house I'm nude for some period of time. Some
    of my favorite activities:

Early mornings on the weekends, making fresh coffee and sitting out
on the side deck. This is for summer time, in the winter I have to settle
for letting the sun warm me thru the glass door.

Sunbathing on the back deck and then diving into the pool.

    	Working in the garden.

Most household chores are done nude.

Would like to mow the lawn this way, but it's in the front of the
house, so I settle for the thong.

Incidentally, I give massages too (had my own business), and strange
as it may sound to a "normal" person, I would prefer to GIVE massages

(and of course I'm sure it would never be accepted in a business
environment -- at least here in North America).

This Sunday was very sunny and relatively warm (for New England). I
decided to take a break from the snow shoveling and relax on the back deck.
There was only one problem, the deck was covered with snow. So I grabed the
shovel and not bothering to grab anything else except footwear, cleared the
deck of snow. The sun and the exercise kept me quite warm and it felt good
to be looking forward to sunning weather.

16.27Sailing, Sailing!ZEKE::STARBRIGHTSerenityThu Aug 25 1994 08:0317
I just spent a week on Lake Erie having the time of my life! Sailing
could easily be made the 'sport of nudists'! (Well, perhaps not during
    a thunderstorm) ;)

My friend and I had the most lovely adventure in clear clean waters. We
visited little uninhabited islands and soaked up the sea and sun. We
dressed when we docked, but the rest of the time we were as natural as
can be. We even rigged a bosun's chair to swing out from the boat as we
tooled along and my friend got some terrific photos of the boat in
sail. Then I got some photos of him swinging around on that bosun's
chair over 45 foot of water. ;)

We are talking about taking a month long sail next year. It was
    absolutely incredible!

    Bright blessings,
