428.0. "Christmas greetings" by AUSSIE::BELL (Charitas Patiens est) Thu Dec 23 1993 03:34

Its so quiet in this conference, I'm wondering if you have all froxen to death.

But I'm off on my Summer holidays, not much chance for going nude :-(, as we'll
be staying with "textiles".

have a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year.

Peter.

ps Peter, at least you've got some warm weather - it's freezing here
       in Massachusetts.

Woke up to snow this morning! :-( So unless Texas is alot warmer than here,
I don't if we'll have a very nude Christmas either. :-) Happy Holidays to
All!

428.4Textile ??ELMAGO::BLAWRENCEWed Feb 16 1994 21:275
May I ask what a "textile" is ? Since I am asking, does that mean I
    am one ???
I suspect this is a term used for the general population who believe
that we were meant to be slapped into textiles as soon as we are
cleaned up at birth, and never to be free again. How close is this ?

That's pretty good! :-) Actually, I've mostly seen the term "textile"
used as an adjective, an opposite to "clothing-optional". For example,
the "textile" portion of a beach. I'd guess that somewhere along the line
people started using the word to refer to the people who frequented those
beaches, and then to any person who has that mindset. I personally don't
see the value in the term when it's used in the latter way.

It's interesting to note, though, how people change the language to suit
their needs- a noun, used as an adjective, twisted back into a noun; it
won't be long before someone verbs it!

That does convey a certain sort of attitude. I rather like your verb.

Thanks for your info, I am totally new to the language, as is obvious
    by my question.
