269.0. "A novel idea, so somebody probably though of it already... :-)" by DDIF::MACK (Embrace No Contradictions) Mon Aug 27 1990 21:19

There's less than a month of "official" summer left (and probably less of
practical summer), and thoughts are beginning to tend toward school days
and winter.

Some of the organizations like NENA will sponsor two or three events for the
winter, but otherwise, based on notes from previous years, it looks pretty
bleak.

What if somebody with a good-sized living room and either a very private lot
or better-than-average curtains sponsored a nudist noters' party? If it can't
be a notors' party as such, some of us could still keep a calendar and arrange
for a rotation. Some of us aren't in a position to do it because of our
location or the size of our house or apartment, but if we had a rotation of
house parties to break up the winter doldrums, it could make for a refreshing
change, and make the time until spring not seem quite so long.

While Lorraine and I are in a difficult position, renting a detached condo with
a small living room (capacity: 4 really, 6 in a pinch) in the middle of a
complex with no trees, I would be glad to help out in any way if anyone else
is thinking of doing one. (I don't think Lorraine would go to one of these
yet, it's kind of a big step, but maybe after one or two more visits to Cedar
Waters...) I am willing to put any energy into this that is necessary to see
it become a reality. (If I had the money, I'd buy the house to have the party
in!)

What are the legalities of nudist house parties (particularly in Mass & NH)?
The cops can't bust up a private party as long as it stays private, can they?
I've never been to a nudist house party. Does anything make a real "do"
impractical? Since I scarcely wear clothes at home anymore, I can't imagine
such a party being unpleasant or undesirable.

								Ralph

P.S. You long-time nudists are going to have to put up with the unbridled
enthusiasm of a neophyte who has suffered forever from a lousy image
of his body and is finally FREE!

Actually, the NENA swims occur every third Saturday during the fall
and winter season. I don't remember if they start in September or
    	October.

I think Solair stays open until October or mid-November...

There's a place called Phoenix in upstate New York that is open
year-round and has all sorts of stuff (including nude cross-country
    	skiing...brrrrr).

There are occasional CO parties that happen but they're usually
just a bunch of friends who get together. I would think that
having an open CO party for the sake of having a CO party wouldn't
generate that much interest; there needs to be some other theme,
like a hottub party, where there's an excuse to be nude.

At the CO parties that I've been to, either the neighbors didn't
care or the house was secluded enough so that someone really had to
look in order to be offended. The best CO parties that I've gone
to (which means all of them) focused on something other than
nudity. Someone had a party and there was skinny-dipping, or
someone had a hottub and/or swimming pool, or they were teaching
people how to give massages. The fact that it was CO was not important.

269.2I never need an excuse to party, BUT...BAGELS::SKINNERFirst Place in Nude Costume Contest!Tue Aug 28 1990 01:568
There's a place near me that rents hottubs to go for $100 for the
weekend. If we all pitch in, I'd be willing to have a party sometime.
It will be hard to party without Molly, but I guess we'll have to make
    the best of it..

Too bad we can't go nude ice skating on my lake!!

269.4Anyone else have a hottub??BAGELS::SKINNERFirst Place in Nude Costume Contest!Mon Sep 17 1990 17:3611
I called the hot tub rental place and they no longer are in business,
so I guess we'll have to see if someone with a hottub already installed
would be willing to have a party.

Otherwise, the first NENA swim of the season is on October 20th..

Course, if anyone is offered the buyout and can't think of another
business to go into, maybe you'd consider a hottub rental place for us
displaced Naturists to get through the winters!! ;-)

There is a place in Grafton,ma that rents hot tubs by the hour.
It is called the Oasis Hot Tubs. Some of the tubs can seat up to
    6 people ......

Hmmm...Molly's tub probably fit around 6, eh? (so what if we got
    18 people into it? :^) )

Could it be that Ron is volunteering to host a little Halloween
hot tub party? (We'd all have to wear masks, of course!)

Well I called the hot tubs to find out how many people they can fit
in one tub. They told me for safety regulations they can only have 4
people to a tub. But they do have 2 tubs in 2 room with a door that can
be opened to go back and forth. The price of the tubs is quit a bit.
for 4 people it is $40. You do have to make reservations in advance.
    (masks are optional)

269.9Do we all have to fit at once?FSTVAX::HANAUERMike... Ice~Cream~to~BicycleWed Oct 10 1990 20:216
Many people (me included) can only take so long in a hot tub.

Shifts would therefore probably be ok, thus a smaller tub might be ok.

I second this shifts idea. Is there a limit on number of people/room? I
like to be in for 10 minutes, out for 10minutes to cool off, etc.

(I'm up for the idea and my s.o. would probably be into it as well)
