182.0. "Cape Cod spots" by AWAKE::WESTERVELT () Fri Jun 30 1989 21:16

Has anyone recently visited the Truro section of the
National Seashore? How about other Cape locations?
Is naturist use still common at these?

I visited the Cape this past weekend at Dennisport. It was nice to be
nearly nude and sun/swim for the weekend. I didn't hit any isolated
areas so g-string was as nude as I could get.

At one beach, I got quite a reaction from a group of college kids that
were into some heavy beach-partying. Other than that no problems.

182.2Truro and P-townASIMOV::DITOMMASOI cant get use to this lifestyleFri May 29 1992 19:2421
While down in Truro last weekend, a couple people directed me to
a beach in Truro. We visited it, .. parked where all the cars were
parked and walked onto the beach. As far as we could see, people were
clothed. The beach was beautiful btw, and not crowded at all.

According to more than one person, this beach was supposed to be C/O.
Does anyone know about this, ... did we go to the right beach or just
not walk along the beach far enough (which we didn't do at all actually).

We were also given directions to Newcomb beach in Welfleet. Is this a
C/O beach. We were told it was.

We finally wound up on Harbor Cove beach in P-town. Most of the women
were topless, and a number of them were completely naked.
The beach is OK, and crowded. Also, if you feel uncomfortable about being
in the minority as a heterosexual couple, than this beach may not be
for you. (we did not have ANY problems, comments or so on at the beach
at all, everyone was really quite nice).

You need to walk to the right, way past the clothed section. A few years
back the rangers were harrassing people so I'm very curious what the status
is now. It's a beautiful beach, big gorgeous dunes etc.

    This floated in on usenet.
Does anyone know the real name of the beach he is describing?

<elided stuff [jlb]>

As far as nudity goes, I stumbled across a CO beach in Provincetown,
MA, a couple af weeks ago while vacationing there with my wife and
daughter. We were looking for CO places, but forgot to pack our
World Guide, so we just checked out each of the various beaches in the
area.

We figured that people must be trying to go nude somewhere, because
several beaches specifically mentioned on their rules sign, "NO NUDITY",
right along with the typical "no glass containers", "no camping", etc.

Just when we thought there weren't going to be any co places in the
area, we stumbled onto one while sightseeing. We hadn't planned on
going to the beach that day, our challenge was to walk the mile long
breakwater across to the lighthouse at the very tip of Cape Cod.

At the other end of the breakwater, there was a path through through the
dunes that led to the ocean side beach. Lo and behold was our long
awaited co area. There was only about ten to twelve people on the
whole beach, but three of them were young women sunning themselves
in the nude. One man was swimming nude, but his companion and all
the rest of the people on the beach were fully clothed.

My three and a half year old daughter and myself took advantage of the
freedom to strip down for a refreshing nude swim. (My daughter gets
nude any old time anywhere whenever she feels confined by her clothes,
usually I'm not free to join her). My wife was a little shy because
of the high percentage of clothed people, so she stayed dressed. When
everone is nude, she joins right in.

The beach was very clean, relatively big, and probably tolerated as
a nude area because of the long walk it takes to access it. Apparently
the prudes who would complain are too prissy to make the effort to
walk across the rocky breakwater. Next time I go to Provincetown I
plan to make that beach the one where I spend my time.

182.5Herring Cove?ASIMOV::DITOMMASOI cant get use to this lifestyleMon Oct 05 1992 14:1016
It sounds like Herring Cove Beach, .. right at the tip of P-town.

Amy and I went there over the memorial day long weekend, .. we were staying
in North Truro, and although we were staying on a nice beach area,
we wanted to go to a beach that allowed nudity ...

When we were there, I'd say about a couple dozen women (out of hudreds
of people on the beach) were completely naked, and many more were topless.
Very few of the men were naked.

Supposedly, every once in a while, the patrol would come along down the
beach and tell people to put some clothes on, but that didn't happen
  while we were there.
