135.0. "Interesting Priority of Values" by BLKWDO::GAFFNEY (Paul) Sat Feb 11 1989 15:13

In the Feb. 9 Wall Street Journal page A16 There is an article about
Germans on vacation and how it is now popular to sue someone ( tour company,
hotel, travel agent etc. ) if the vacation is not perfect. Because their
are so many suits, a judge came up with guidelines for refunds. Example:
brochure promises a heated pool and the pool isn't, the client gets 5% to
10% back. If hotel is suppose to be on the beach and turns out to be far
from the water client gets 5% to 10% back. IF THERE IS NO PLACE TO SUNBATH
NUDE CLIENT GETS BACK UP TO 20%. I thought it interesting how much more
value is put on nude sunbathing over location of hotel to the beach.

    Of course, if you're a mile from the beach, you can still get to the
    beach. If there's no place to sunbathe nude, and that's what you
    wanted on your vacation, you're just out of luck. In that sense, it
    seems pretty reasonable.

135.2Of Course!HPSTEK::SHERMANWed Feb 15 1989 11:328
    Hi:

    It seems most silly, to me, that such conveniences have not been
    made available virtually everywhere simply as a matter of course.

    What's the matter with people anyway!
