100.0. "Colorado Party?" by GENRAL::KILGORE (The Desert Rat) Wed Aug 24 1988 22:33

Oh Boy! Note 100! To tell you the truth, I never thought we'd be able to
come up with 100 topics to write about concerning Naturism! ;-)

I'd like to thank Neil for the guts, system and time to start it. It has
been and will continue to be a place to learn more, interact with others,
relax, and feel uninhibited. It is a joy to know you aren't the only weirdo
out there that likes to NOT wear clothes 100% of the time.

Since the warmest season is starting to cool down, I got to thinking about
having a Naturist party, before it gets too cold. Course it's going to be a
little difficult for those people in far away places to come to Colorado,
but according to the "roll call", Colorado has enough people to have a party.
How about it? Anybody interested? Depending on the amount of people, we
could possibly make it a weekend at Valley View... Anybody game?

If you go ahead with your party, the least you'll have to do for

>> Gee I'd really like to come but what should I wear??

Well, I like my guests to wear what is most comfortable for them. I prefer
nude but that is completely up to you! ;-)
100.7When is the next question?GENRAL::KILGOREThe Desert RatFri Aug 26 1988 23:2451
>> 1-HOW DO YOU GET THERE?

Is Valley View where everyone wants to go? I think we are limited to 10
guests...but will check on that number.

Valley View is located south of Salida/Poncha Springs in the San Luis Valley
on the western slope of the Sangre de Cristo mountains.

>> 2-WHERE DO WE MEET?

We could meet just about anywhere...hotel parking lot, a city park...

>> 3-WHEN AND HOW LONG?

Not Labor Day weekend....to busy. Any weekend after Labor Day would be OK
with us.

We like to leave either Friday after work or early Saturday morning and get
back home Sunday evening. We sometimes stop at a restaurant in Salida for
dinner Sunday night on the way home.

>> 4-WHERE CAN WE STAY?

You can tent or car camp or sleep under the stars, or if you prefer indoors
there are cabins available (reservations required and $$, but $ is minimal...
will find out prices) but you provide bedding. There are stoves (either
wood burning or electric) to cook with. I think some pots and pans are
provided, but we always provide our own and also car camp out of our van.
We usually bring along a mini-BBQ and cook chicken, pork chops, or steaks
over coals. It is small but would probably work for 6 to 8 people...1st
serving.

>> 5-WHAT SHOULD WE BRING?

Towels, suntan lotion, a good book or magazine read while sunning, frisbee,
hacky sack, hiking boots/shoes, mountain bikes, food, wine or other drink...
whatever suits (or unsuits) you! A warm robe is handy at night to wrap up
with to walk back to where you are staying.

We could probably go together on food unless someone has a special dietary
need, then they should bring their own.

>> 6-DO WE NEED A MEMBERSHIP?

Since my hubby is a member you (and me) will be his guests. You do need
to be a member if you wish to visit VV during a weekend if you are NOT with
another member.

If you think of anything I might have missed, feel free to reply.

100.8Clothes are optionalGENRAL::KILGOREThe Desert RatSat Aug 27 1988 06:2023
Thought I also might add Valley View is a clothes-optional place. There
is no pressure to particpate nude or dressed. If you and/or a friend/
spouse is not completely comfortable with the "being nude" aspect, this
might be a good time to experience the feeling!

There are 5 pools (sitting in type) that will hold anywhere from 4 people
up to 30 or so. There is a swimming pool that is so deep you can not touch
the bottom and still have your head above water (unless you are 7 ft tall!).
There is a volleyball net set up but I think you will need to bring a ball.
Restroom is coed, with 4 stalls, a couple urinals, 1 complete bathroom (stool,
sink, and tub/shower), one shower, 2 bathroom sinks, and one kitchen type
sink to wash dishes/pans. There is also a sauna if anyone cares to use it.
Electricity is provided by a hydro-electric plant run by the spring run-off
water. Firewood is provided free of charge. Wildlife is usually abundant
...deer especially.

And if someone is interested in joining in on the weekend and you don't
feel comfortable publicly letting everyone know you want to attend, send
me mail (GENRAL::KILGORE) or give me a call at DTN 522-2162.

Hope you can join us!

100.9Sept 24th and 25thGENRAL::KILGOREThe Desert RatMon Aug 29 1988 14:1218
Since most people want to know when, how about setting aside Sept 24th and 25th
as the weekend for Colorado's 1st Naturist party? The weekend of the 17th is
definitely out since the CXO DEC picnic is that weekend.

If there is someone that would like to attend but can't make the whole weekend,
you could meet us there (Valley View?), either Saturday or Sunday.

There is an over-nite use fee of $8 per person I think, (I'll put all this info
in tonite regarding what the fees are...), less if just staying the day. The
use fee allows you complete access to all the pools (swimming and soaking),
firewood, sauna, the "hotel" (see below), showers, and thousands of acres to
hike on including an old iron mine. Again, there is a small fee for cabin
usage but no charge to use the "hotel" (a dorm like building, beds provided
and community kitchen) or camping (either tent, under the stars or car).

More questions? Please respond!

Which weekend would we have more people attend? Either Sept 24th, 25th...
or...The next available weekend will be Oct 15th, 16th or Oct 22nd, 23rd.

We are going to be out of town and unavailable during the first 2 weekends
of Oct (1 & 2, 8 & 9). We can't go any other time in Sept because there
is alot of conferences going on regarding getting my mother-in-law out of
the hospital (after being in there since May).

If you'd like to send me mail, we can determine which would be best for
everyone that wants to attend. Just keep in mind, the later the date, the
cooler it is. We have enjoyed Valley View in the winter so it may not be
all that bad. :-)

100.13Another idea...GENRAL::KILGOREThe Desert RatWed Aug 31 1988 13:214
We could still make it the 24th and 25th of Sept (for those that can attend)

I like the idea of 2 weekends! That way, people who can't make

Bob (hubby) likes the idea of 2 weekends also. Let's go ahead and plan on
some of us going on the 24th and 25th of Sept and then another in one of the
last 2-3 weekends of Oct.

Just think, if we keep this up it could become a monthly thing! :-)

A friend brought me a brochure from VV so here are the prices.

Overnight use... $10.00 per person per night, so if we got there Friday
night it would be $20 per person thru Sunday evening.

Cabins ... if you wish to share a cabin, one that would house more than
2 people, is $20 per night, no matter how many people use the cabin.

I'm really looking forward to this weekend! :-)

For those people that want to go to Valley View in October, please let me know
ASAP. I called VV this weekend to reserve a cabin for the weekend of the 24th
and found all are taken!!!! They go fast!!! I can call VV and ask them what
weekends are free in October and let you know. When I call then, it would
probably be smart to reserve the cabin then and if no one can make it that
weekend, call and cancel the reservations.

It's a shame you going to miss October.
100.20The Weekend GENRAL::KILGOREThe Desert RatMon Sep 26 1988 12:5240
Was GREAT!!! Weather had to be the best I'd ever seen at VV....could have
been a tad warmer Friday night, but other than that we had bright sunshine,
no rain or snow. The temps were probably in the 70s during the day and the
40s at night. Considering we forgot our ponchos, I was real surprised it
didn't rain! :-)

Our group contained 6 people, Phil and Ellen, Bob and Linda, Bob and Judy.
Everyone met at our house Friday evening and left about 5:30. The aspens
are in their prime of turning colors and it was a visually pleasing trip.
The only bad thing about the trip up was the dinner at a small diner that
we should have passed up, :-(. We got to VV about 9:30. 4 of us were
going to sleep in our vehicles but Phil and Ellen didn't quite have enough
room in their Vette, so we helped them set up a tent in the moonlight.

As soon as that was done we proceeded to the party pool, which is maybe 3 feet
deep and can hold many people (not sure how many). There was only 2 people
there, so we spoiled their peace and quiet! ;-) We stayed in the pool until
1:30.

Saturday morning, everyone took hikes. The guys went straight up the mountain
behind VV. Phil, I'll let you relate the climb to everyone....I do know it's
a tough one. Us girls went over to the Orient Mine, an old iron mine, which is
part of the VV property. We visited a ventilation shaft that has COLD air
pouring out of it year round. Natural air conditioning! There is a mine shaft
near the ventialtion shaft which appears to go forever into the hillside.

We later swam, ate lunch, soaked in the pools, and ate a great steak dinner
(thanks again for the steaks Phil). Most went back up to the party pool, I
was a party pooper and crashed for the night.

Sunday, everyone 'did their own thing'. Swimming, hiking, napping, reading
and soaking was on the agenda. We all left early to mid-afternoon to enjoy
the great scenery on the way home. The full moon rose over Colorado Springs
as Bob and I returned home.

A few of us got somewhat sunburned but other than that it was a successful
first outing for the CXO Naturists. It was a very relaxing weekend. We are
now ready to plan for the October trip. Anyone game? :-)

100.21READY FOR NEXT MONTHFTMUDG::RAYERMon Sep 26 1988 16:5822
I have never really injoyed camping until this weekend. The weather
was great like Judy said. The people we went with Judy,Bob,Linda and
Bob were great to be around. The facilities at VV were supper.I have
never seen a camping facility as clean and in such good shape.
The climb Judy was taking about was to about 9,000 ft. elevation.
The view from that eleavation was breath taking, and I've got a roll
film to prove it. Are legs were so week from the climb that on the way
down they would start shaking when you started to put your foot down. Instead
of coming strait down we took an alternative route down.
This weekend the wife and I signed up to be put on the waiting list
at VV. Yes we are going to make the next trip in Oct. and yes Judy see
about those cabins my butt is still sore from sleeping on the ground.
By the way don't make the 10 mile drive from the highway in a vette
that has a $2500 paint job. It took my heart 20 min. to settle after
the coming and going of VV but it was still worth every bit of it. Next
time I told Judy that I would be driving another car.
If there is anybody here in the Springs that reads this file and
would like to make the next trip but is a little uncomfortable with
clothing optional don't be .

Aw, Phil, you didn't look THAT bad when you climbed out of the tent! :-)

I have a cabin reserved for the weekend of Oct 28th, 29th. It sleeps 8 people
in 4 double beds. The restroom is right across the road...nice and convenient,
instead of down the hill. ;-)

I forgot to mention earlier when I spoke with Doug (the caretaker) about
reserving a cabin, he said there were 85 (!) people there this weekend.
Considering how many people were there, it was very quiet.

So let's plan on leaving Oct 28th Friday evening, around 5-5:30. Send me a
message if you want to "potluck" food for meals. Remember LONG robes! ;-)!

The discriptions of your VV party sure bring back some wonderful
past memories for me. I was a member for two years and if the top
pool hadn't cooled down I would have been one longer. Its my favorite
mainland CO resort. And I had great fun doing all the things you
folks mention. By the way did they ever enlarge the sauna?

>> if the top pool hadn't cooled down I would have been one longer.

The top pool cools down during "spring run-off" which last thru June. Then
it starts warming up again and is very warm in the winter.

>> By the way did they ever enlarge the sauna?

Nope. It's still the same dinky place.

They have upgraded the cabins somewhat by adding electric lights. They
started doing this after a defective gas light burned one of the cabins
pretty bad. All electricity is generated by a hydro-electric plant that
uses the water from the hot-springs that flows down the mountainside.

They've also upgraded the 'hotel' with tile/linoleum and maybe carpet.

We do have the largest cabin reserved for the last weekend of October,
so if you find yourself in the area, come join us.

For those people interested in going the weekend of Oct 28th, 29th, please
contact either me (GENRAL::KILGORE) or Phil (FTMUDG::RAYER).

We are beginning to plan food and drinks and want to make sure we have enough
along. The cabin sleeps 8 people in 4 double beds, you will need to provide
bedding or sleeping bags. If we have more than 8 people that want to come
along, there is the possibility of getting the connected cabin next door or
if that isn't available there is plenty of floor space to sleep people on
mats and sleeping bags.

We'd like to leave on Oct 28th Friday evening, around 5-5:30. If this is not
convenient for you, we can give you directions how to get there and meet you
when you arrive. You can come for the whole weekend, just a day or a few
hours. Whatever....VV is a flexible place! :-)

We've got 8 people going to Valley View this weekend. Weather is supposed to
turn cold due to an Pacific/Artic (?) front coming thru Colorado beginning
this afternoon thru the weekend. What timing! Since we've got the cabin we
shouldn't be hurting but if you hear about snow in the San Luis Valley of
Colorado, we'll probably be in the middle of it, freezing our buns off! ;-)!

If anyone can go to VV on the weekend of November 11, 12, 13, contact either
me (GENRAL::KILGORE) or Phil (FTMUDG::RAYER) so we can reserve a cabin at the
earliest time possible (to insure we get one!).

More people had wanted to attend this weekend but were unable to make it and
will be there in spirit...as I imagine alot of you will be since you also
can't be there. Will give a report Monday. Have a nice nude weekend!

Hi Everyone! It snowed! At least that's what Phil claims. Sometime during
the wee hours of Sunday morning anyway...it was gone when I woke up!

The weather was best on Saturday with warm temps and breezes were at a minimum.
It was even nice enough to get out of the water and walk around without toweling
off first. Saw lots of deer while hiking. Phil got loads of pictures of the
deer and sounds like an interesting shot from the highest pool.

Only six people made it to VV. It was a quiet weekend due to all the Halloween
parties being held back in the big cities. It was a little chilly during the
nights...made it down to 40 degrees inside our unheated van. The water in the
party pool was a little too chilly (not enough people warming it up!) at night
and so after freezing Friday night we decided to stay in and play games Sat
night....so it was a quiet night for us.

Sunday was cloudy, cool and breezy. Bob took a swim in the pool that stays 89
degrees year-round. And he said that was too cold to be enjoyable. We forgot
about the time change until we got to town. Darn, we could have stayed another
hour! ;-) Over-all, it was another fun weekend at Valley View.

and bringing munchies. I've invited another DECcie to come along also. Should
be another `warm' night in the tub. See you there!

It is that time again....Hot-tub party at Phil's!!! Let's make it this coming
Saturday night,

	January 20th,
	around 7:30 pm.

Bring munchies and drinks if you want them. And towels, robe, etc. :-)

At the last party we had ice accumulate around the tub which made getting out
very slippery. It was still alot of fun! Nobody got hurt or froze their feet
to the deck.... ;-)

Contact Phil (FTMUDG::RAYER) or me (GENRAL::KILGORE) to let us know if you are
interested in coming. I also have a map of how to get to Phil's house. I will
be at CXO3 this Weds, Thurs, and Friday so I could drop off if you are `up on
the hill'. Looking forward to another tub party!

Well gang There is 7ins. of snow on the deck for Saturday. This should
be worth 10 bonus points for the test. There is 4 more inches + coming.
Now we see who the real diehards are. Everything is still on for Saturday.
See you there.

And boy was it fun! I made TWO nude snow angels last night. Does that mean
I get 2 points, or does that only count as 1? The hardest part was getting
up the nerve to lay down in the snow. I think I danced around on the deck
trying to get up the nerve longer than I layed in the snow! :-)

Great time Phil! Thanks!

OK, I'll ask.

What is a snow angel (nude or clothed)?

(I have imagined a number of possibilites)

Oh Mike, you must have had a deprived childhood! ;-) Just joking, of course.
A snow angel is where you lay down in the snow, usually on your back, then
start waving your arms and legs against the snow. When you get up from the
snow, the areas where you waved your arms are supposed to look like the
sleeves and where you waved your legs is the robe of an angel.

Has anyone tried it `face first', in other words laying on your tummy? That
would make interesting impressions. ;-)

This was a new experience for me! First time I had ever seen `bun' prints in
a snow angel! ;-)

This message is for those in Colorado that need a little lead time when
planning activities. Ben Wong will be coming to CXO during the week of
February 4th. We are planning on another tub party at Phil's house on
Thursday the 8th so everyone can meet Ben.

Phil mentioned getting together for dinner at Giuseppe's Depot Restaurant
for dinner somewhere around 5, then going out to his house from there.

So if you can make dinner, but not the tub party, that will be great. Or
vise-versa. Let me know if you would like to eat dinner with us, so
I can make reservations. Please notify me of your intentions to dine at
Giuseppe's by no later than 12 noon, Feb 8th.

Let Phil or me know if you can make the tub party.

So far we have 8, maybe 9 people getting together on Thursday night. Should
be a good time! :-) Hey, Phil, we are going to have a full tub!

BTW, Ben will probably `up' his score on his nudist test tomorrow. We are
heading up to Valley View. Think sunshine and warm weather for us. :-)

Judy, I was going to fill the tub after the last gettogether but changed my
mind, I'm glad now I did'nt. With the cool nights the water when it over
flows tends to be a little slick.(like ice) Someone, not mentioning names
almost had a sex change two gettogethers ago.

I turn it on when I leave in the morning so it will be nice and warm that
night.

staying at. Bob and I could pick you up and bring you back if you'd like.

Tuesday would work best for both Dean and me.

Remember Ben Wong? He will be arriving in Colorado Springs on the 23rd of
this month to spend a few days....he has a friend's wedding to attend on
Saturday evening. We will then head off to Valley View for a couple days.
We will leave Sunday (the 25th), spend Sunday and Monday nights at VV and
return to Colorado Springs on Tuesday (the 27th). If you would be interested
in joining us for the trip to VV, please contact me and let me know. Bob and
I will be camping in our trailer but Ben will be staying in a room with 2 beds.
Not sure of the size of the beds tho but there will be one available.

Ben will be leaving VV and heading south from there. Saturday during the
day would also be a time to get together for a picnic if anyone would be
interested. Let me know.
