71.0. "New England Sites Guide" by MOIRA::FAIMAN (A goblet, a goblet, yea, even a hoop) Fri Jun 17 1988 13:15

The latest NENA _Sun Times_ reports that a New England site guide
    is

now complete and ready to go to press. This Guide contains all
of the latest known information on sites throughout New England,
and was gathered from NENA members and other publications,
condensed and updated for this season. Now you can have updated
information, directions and maps all in one source. There are
listings for over 80 sites and more will be added.

The guide can be ordered by sending a check for $8, made out
    to "NENA", to

    	NENA
	P. O. Box 3209
	Wayland Square

has anyone ordered this? Is it any good?

    Thanks,

    Sandy
71.2It's in the mail ;^)SALEM::JWILSONMon Jul 11 1988 21:035
In response to Sandy's query - I ordered it on the day after .0
appeared. I *STILL* haven't received it! When I do, I will be
happy to fill everyone in on MY impressions.

I just got my copy of the New England Sites Guide.

What I got in the mail appeared to be a photo-copied version
of something that was printed from a laser printer, after being
put together by a type-setter or word-processor. It's like some of
    the output from DOCUMENT.

It includes maps of the major public nudist areas which is very
good, but I was expecting something in a book form. It's just a
bunch of stapled sheets of paper.

Information? The information looks very good...on par with the
    World Guide. No pictures. :-)

I just received the 1989 version. The cost is now $12.50 (or free with a
contribution of $25 or more to the NENA legal fund).

As Ben noted in .3, it is best described as a pamphlet, apparently computer
type-set and photo-copied. The information is quite comprehensive. (I know
of a few New England sites that aren't listed here, but only a few.) They've
collected information from all over. If you have the _World Guide_, the last
five years of _CwS_ and _The Event_, and a complete set of _Barefoot_ and
_Clothing Optional Life_, you won't get much out of this ... but even then
you'll probably find somethng new.

They do a good job of indicating site status, too: which ones are established
sites, and which ones are random swimming holes where someone went skinny-
dipping once.

I would recommend it to anyone who lives in New England and is interested in
looking around for new sites to visit.

71.51988 vs. 1989??SALEM::JWILSONTrample Lightly on the EarthThu Jun 15 1989 17:5215
Neil, Do you know if the 1989 version is different from the 1988?
The places I checked out in the '88 edition were as represented,
and the directions were quite accurate. (Two of the sites were
within 15 miles of where I grew up in Southern Connecticut, which
    I found pleasantly surprising!)

I would be happy to provide, upon request, information relative
to the "Closest site to ..." but would strongly recommend readers
purchase a copy of the guide. It's a good cause, and you may be
as surprised as I was about the number and locations of C/O swimming
    areas.

    Hoping for sunnier weekends,

    Jack
